While it is a historic hotel, it's not without modern amenities and comfortable rooms. The room was warm and inviting. It needed a little updating and the doors don't close too well, but you'd expect that in a hotel from the late 1800s! Although we were only there overnight, I can see its potential for all year round stays, and even has the space and amenities for weddings. I will definitely consider the Historic Brandon Inn should the need arise in the future!

We were the ONLY guests at the Inn this evening. Pretty cool. We started a fire (everything supplied), watched a bit of tv, found the bed quite comfortable and slept well. There is a Keurig coffee station on the floor supplied with coffee, cocoa and packaged biscotti for guests to enjoy anytime. We woke to enjoy our made to order breakfast (included) of blueberry pancakes, bacon, sausage patties, eggs (any style), home fries and fruit along with coffee, oj, cranberry juice and water. We had a chance to eat dinner at the restaurant on site and we were pleasantly surprised at the caliber of the food, well above standard "hotel" dining. This carried through to the food which was served to us at the wedding, again well above what we expected. There are a variety of activities available, but we felt that the property didn't quite rise to the "resort" bar. Again, winter might be completely different.

It was a blast and the hotel was quite pleasant for the genre (mid-range, family friendly). Pros: - There's a nice common room downstairs with a fireplace, where we were able to gather with a big group of friends and share dinner. It's also where breakfast is served in the a.m. - Breakfast service begins at 6 a.m. -- great for those who need an early start. - My kiddos love "Hotel Breakfast" as they call it, and this was no exception. There are two DIY waffle irons with lots of wonderfully unhealthy toppings; hot mini omelettes, sausage, and potatoes; muffins, bagels, toast; cold cereal and oatmeal; fruit salad and whole fruit. - We either had very quiet neighbors or the walls are reasonably well soundproofed. - There's a small, heated pool. It's hyperchlorinated as most hotel pools are, but a nice place to congregate and relax with friends after skiing. - There's a small, but adequate gym -- and a conference room should you need it. - The hotel adjoins a shopping complex that includes a Hannaford's supermarket, an Office Depot and a Michael's. Convenient for friends who had to find poster board for a school project due the following Monday. And we picked up fruit trays and dessert for our team dinner. - The hotel is dog friendly! We traveled without our pup this time, but did get to hang with some great guest canines. This is a massive plus in our book. - Beds were quite comfortable and staff were nice! Two people even dressed up as Santa and Mrs. Claus to say hello to the kids at dinner. :) Cons: - The elevator was out of order during our stay, so those of us staying on the third floor with lots of ski gear to carry up and down got a GREAT workout. - The pool is quite small, more of a cooler-than-usual hot tub than anything else -- so don't expect to swim laps. - There's no fan or ventilation in the bathroom. After four showers, it gets pretty steamy. Neutral: - It's about 30 minutes from Killington Mountain. There are more proximate, dog friendly hotels (e.g. Killington Mountain Lodge) and Airbnbs, but Hampton Inn Rutland may be better priced. - Our room temperature defaulted to 68 or 69 F. I love that it's eco-friendly and it was a good temperature for putting on ski gear -- but we usually keep our home a bit warmer than this. You can change the temperature of course, but ours kept defaulting to the cooler setting at night. - We're not big TV watchers, but for those who are, I think you need to sign in to Netflix, Disney+, etc... with your own account logins. The hotel does not have its own subscriptions. Overall, this was a great, budget-friendly place to stay with a group!

There is a small TV if you feel like watching anything, but definitely enjoy the area instead! The Vermont Inn has a bar inside that closes at 9pm. We didn't try it, but it looked so nice and cozy. If you purchase directly through the website, then breakfast is included each morning. Every day they offer pancakes, french toast, or eggs and bacon, and then there is a daily special omelette. We tried omelettes, french toast, and pancakes, and all were quite good. And the coffee is surprisingly tasty. It appears to be a family operation with the kids taking orders. They are cute and do a great job! Definitely a great place to stay if you're in the Killington area!

The location is perfect as it is minutes away from Killington and Pico mountains. The views from the lawn of the mountains are stunning. Rooms were excellent and there was plenty of space. There is a Sauna and pool outside during the summer months. We met a couple that were staying there and planning their wedding with the hosts and it sounded like it was going to be fantastic. This hotel was listed as A premiere Star Trek Tour Partner on the Star Trek tour website which is why we picked it. Again, we were happy with our choice. I always bring my own shampoo & conditioner because I prefer them, but I didn't see any shampoo in the room, so you might want to bring your own. If you care about indoor pools, room service, reward programs, brand new "trendy" furniture in rooms, and "luxurious" bathrooms with salon quality shampoo and conditioner products...frankly you won't find that here. Although word is, the new owners will be updating some rooms and maybe even expanding. But if you like a VERY clean room with everything you need waiting for you after a long day, this is the spot! The staff are very friendly as well. I booked a full bed room as I'm traveling solo. As shown, it's got: -modern LCD TV. -a desk area with a chair. -another sitting/reading chair. -microwave & mini fridge/freezer. -an alarm clock (many lodgings have gotten rid of these) that had TWO USB ports. -several drawers and a half dozen hangers for your clothes -good strong heat (and a wall air conditioner for summer). -firm bed (I don't mind this) that is in decent shape, doesn't feel worn out or bowed in the middle. -strong internet (speed test results posted here) - much faster than the super 8 in town. I work remotely and this is a necessity. -park your car right outside your door in true "motor court" fashion. As an added bonus, I can walk to my mom's facility from here. Heck, I can see it from here, it's that close. There's a diner right across the street, and all the other stuff downtown is about a 10 minute walk. The town has an awesome public beach right on Lake George that's a "hidden gem" as well, just a couple of miles from the motel. So skip the chains and give Circle Court a stay. It's a great home base for whatever activities you have in the North Country, Lake George, Lake Champlain, or over in Middlebury/Rutland.
