Broken tile, shampoo and conditioner, crazy old military bathrooms, plastic glasses, yucky old water jugs near garbage in lobby.

I must complain. This has been the most ridiculous hotel experience. I will have to review on yelp. The room is two flights up and there is an elevator but no one offered for us when we checked in. So we and all guest walked up. Also we were not told that our phones were not working when we checked in. Apparently it's been that way for a while though. Thry still are not working. But you need them to request any services so....? There isn't actually glass glasses, water, or a coffee or coffee pot. Two plastic cups and an old reused water jug by the garbage near lobby. It's impossible to get fresh towels and room cleaned even if you request it. I guess you need a phone.?? The bathroom has military/school style toilets, again plastic glasses and miss matched shampoo and conditioner. This is a spa hotel? No. The room is dirty. Behind the bed ( I tried to plug in my phone) it is disgusting back there. The obvious carpets are filthy and the room is old and tired. Why am I spending the big money? The breakfast was ridiculously expensive and terrible. All in all. Bad. Why is this so expensive and so terrible? Someone must tell the truth. I was told by locals to stay away. For sure avoid. Best

The Middlebury Inn has been part of my childhood. My family and I used to go up to the Inn every Thanksgiving when I was younger. I've been going up less and less, just because of logistics and finances (a room in the Porter Mansion is over $200 a night), but this past Thanksgiving I went back up with some of my family. I was so excited to bring my daughter to Middlebury, Vermont to experience our usual room in the Porter Mansion. It was just as I remembered it. The room I stay in is small and quaint, and the bathroom is tiny too, but it has so much charm to it. The room just makes me so happy. We arrived late on Wednesday night and were able to check in just fine because they have someone at the front desk 24/7. I called in advance and asked that the pack and play be set up for my daughter since she'd be sleeping when I arrived. Everything was set up in the room and it made arriving late so much easier. The bed was a tad bit uncomfortable for me (a bit hard) and they had the largest pillows on the bed, but I just used one of the couch pillows instead and it was fine. The breakfast buffet is always top notch at the Middlebury Inn. They have lots of options and keep the food coming. The Thanksgiving buffet was a bit sparse, but I understand. I just wish they had a few more vegetable options. My husband was a little annoyed that they 'fancied' up the stuffing with blue cheese and cranberries. He just wanted some old fashioned stuffing. In the end, I still had a really nice dinner. We had a handful of miscommunications when it came to paying our bill at the end of all the buffets. We paid in advance, but they charged us accidentally a few times. Everything was solved quickly though. The little town of Middlebury is adorable too. There are a handful of locally owned stores and everyone is so friendly. If you are looking for a quaint, relaxing vacation, Middlebury is the spot. I felt like I was able to get away and enjoy my Thanksgiving. Also, if you eat in the Inn, have their salad with their Maple Balsamic Vinaigrette. It is to die for!

Beautiful Victorian hotel, has kind of an odd-layout especially upstairs, but otherwise charming. For ameneties: hair dryer, desk with stationary, refrigerator, phone, air conditioning, wifi (with password), cable TV, iron/ironing board. What I did love, was the blackout curtains. They were lovely. Staff were very pleasant. Rooms were immaculate. I had woken up around 2 or 3 in the morning, so I went to the lobby to read. The clerk was watching something on his tablet. It was a little loud and distracting. But this person is working the graveyard shift and the poor should is just trying to stay awake, so I didn't want to complain. I'd be doing the same thing too, maybe with headphones though. The room we had was on the top floor. Water was hot for the shower, but otherwise had low pressure. Hey it's a Victorian, not going to knock it! I wish I had time to use the bath jetts, it would have been so nice. But we were only there for the night. What was great was the veranda overlooking the common, and this place is right in the downtown area. We were a 5-10 minute walk from most restaurants. I would love to come back. I wish we did breakfast, it sounds like it's really good.

My upgraded room's King sized bed.

Really great clean, comfy, and courteous. Super good place to stay right in the middle of town. Some say it's haunted

I needed a handicap accessible room due to severe arthritis, so we stayed in the attached motel part (rather than the main inn).

The Vermont Wedding Barn, aka Champlain Valley Alpacas, aka a Little Slice of Vermont Heaven, was…read moreeverything we could have hoped for and more for our July '19 wedding. Jenny and Les, owners and host extraordinaires, are incredibly friendly, sweet, easy people to work with. Les' brother, Bill, was also on site all weekend, lending his hands and just being friendly. They went above and beyond their normal wedding weekend duties to make sure everything went smooth on our weekend. And look at those alpacas! They are such unique, cool, cute animals that were all much more sweet than we had imagined. They really provide a lot of character to this beautiful Bridport venue, and the 'Running of the Alpacas' is something we will never forget! When we booked this venue sight unseen, we had been a little apprehensive to see it in person for the first time, but the barn itself is much more spacious than some of the photos make it seem (we fit 140 people, buffet tables, a 5-piece band, bar, and more in there), the manicured lawn all around it provides tons of room for lawn games, appetizer tables, cocktail hour, etc., the pool cottage is a charming, spacious studio with a nice shaded deck and, of course, the pool to hop in when it got too hot was a big family favorite. There are a few different options for ceremony site depending on your preference, which is a nice thing for a venue to offer. We chose the sunny spot, next to the vineyard with the Adirondack backdrop. Can't beat it. It's worth noting that when booking at the Vermont Wedding Barn, you are booking the space to use for your wedding. Unlike some other places, you are not hiring a team to help coordinate, set up, take care of the logistical aspects. As I said, Jenny and Les were very helpful to us in so many ways, but just remember there are a lot of moving pieces that go into a wedding weekend! Planning and executing our wedding ourselves, we learned this first hand. Be sure you have help arranged for the weekend (recruit your family + friends!). Of course, this makes the Vermont Wedding Barn more financially viable than a lot of other VT venues! Overall, if it isn't obvious yet, we loved this place and would certainly recommend the venue to anyone looking for a beautiful, outdoor Vermont setting. There is something about a barn wedding that is just so fun, the 60 or so alpaca on the farm give the property a unique, fun leg up on other Vermont venues, and Jenny & Les take it over the top with their hospitality and friendliness. We are so happy we tied the knot at this great family farm - it will always hold a place in our hearts.
