Our server suggested I try the Shrimp Salad with green beans & avocado. It seemed like an odd combination of ingredients, but oh was I wrong. All the flavors and textures popped. The butterfly shrimp were incredible. As someone who loves Mussels, I met my match with the entrée size bowl served in creamy white wine sauce and with french fries. I made a gallant attempt to finish it, but fell short. It was a feast and cost only 34 Euros. My daughter met her match with the French Minced Potato Casserole au Gratin. Super rich and delish. The portion was huge, almost appropriate for family style dining. I wish I could bring this restaurant back to the United States.

I was going to mention it, when he poured again. So, I thought maybe it was a regional difference in service. When the bill came, they charged for every tiny pour. Add great au gratin potatoes and fresh vegetables and we reached "fantastic." The salmon and gorgeous local asparagus were outstanding. They said the next available seating would be an hour, so I happily took the 8pm. I was shocked to see how empty the restaurant was, though when I arrived! I opted for the 5 course tasting menu which was the smaller of the two. Glad I did because their portions are quite big here for a Chef's Tasting Menu. The food was good, but no standouts of the night. There was nothing in particular about the entire meal that impressed me. However, the dishes were colorful and beautiful! What I REALLY enjoyed was the wine pairing. Each glass complimented each dish perfectly. If only they served it in a timely manner... so not a Michelin experience, IMO. Service was all over the place. I wasn't really checked on and one dish a server just came by and took it away without asking If I was done... and no, I was not done. They didn't really time my wine pairing with the meals which put me off. Not sure how Michelin rated restaurants in Germany go, but I was not really impressed with this one. Decent food, not so great service. If someone asked me to go back, I wouldn't be opposed to it... but certainly not a Michelin experience I'd recommend to anyone... just a restaurant to go to for a decent meal.

She also has nice delicacies imported from France like jams, honeys, candies, vinegars (from l'Olivier),... Her croissants etc look great and the dough is imported from France as she cannot get the right butter to make it here in Frankfurt, I was told. I will definitely be back to try her lunch next time I'm in Frankfurt over lunch time (and have passed a cash machine beforehand, as she doesn't take inter ational credit cards. Unfortunately, the service was about the worst thing that ever happened to us in Frankfurt or anywhere for that matter. Our children were not very loud and were flirting with the guests on the table nearby (who were flirting back). A few minutes into our stay, the waiter comes and asks us to "tune our children down" and to imagine we would be on a romantic dinner - "would you want to be disturbed by children's noise?" he asked. "And just to make it clear, nobody complained, I just want to make sure it stays like that." What should you say to that? Well, we tried our best and did stay calm. Until we (remember, all adults at our table had wine and a full meal) took out the drinking bottle for our daughter when the waiter came again with the words "I don't want to be annoying, but could you please be so kind and remove this drinking bottle from the table?" Sounds like this story is made up? That's what I would think, if I hadn't seen it. What is really sad about it is that we really liked the food, the prices and the restaurant, but like this, we sure enough won't come again.

More fluent in French than German, and authentically rude in response to questions uttered in English, it was after selecting five items that nearly 20€ cash was paid, the first beggar encountered before Food was even unwrapped with another following just after biting into a cloyingly sweet Almond Croissant sopping with Frangipane. Not about to subject even the homeless to such messy remnants, though the birds proved less discerning, it was fortunate that Chocolate Brioche proved better in terms of both texture and taste while a Profiterole with Vanilla Cream unfortunately fell short as it had clearly been frozen overnight with evidence in both chilly Choux and Ice crystals amidst the Filling. They are nearly always incredibly busy, and yet they make me feel so welcome I feel as if I am at home. The pastries, food, coffee, is just as it should be. I particularly love the quiche Lorraine and the bite-size (making them way too convenient to eat), soft, sticky canneles. The breakfast buffet is the stuff of fairy tales- it's open on Sundays upstairs in the restaurant with all you can eat croissants, baguettes, cheese, pâté, muesli, quiches, vegetables, fruit, Lachs, salami, and select bites of pastry. In the winter an all you can eat, made to order crêpe station is also included. The location is also spot on- right in the heart of Bornheim in a pedestrian zone that allows for a perfect vantage point to "people watch." Baguette Jeanette is really the place to go all year round and can lighten your mood no matter how down you may feel.
