Some reviews suggest it's closed but it's just moved over a little while the main restaurant is under construction - check their website for the latest (they have details in English). Nice ambience and staff all speak English and are good at suggesting dishes to try! Beware portions are large - even by American standards!! My partner and I got 2 apps and a main to share and could not finish. We got the hand cheese music(?), beef sausage salad and a mushroom schnitzel. The schnitzel was by far the star of the show (as we should have expected)! The cheese is famous so we had to try it but sheep's cheese is a bit too strong for me and it had a harder texture than I prefer. My partner liked it though so I'd recommend giving it a shot if you're adventurous!! We also got their homemade lemonade which was a fizzy raspberry lemonade. Meh, the new place feels like any other upscale new restaurant out there. Just has no feel or character. They're trying to stick to the monastery beer vibe but it doesn't hit the mark in that regard. The old place was cozy and old and felt authentic, this place is new, loud and generic. Maybe it's not so bad and I'm sore because I miss the old place but it just doesn't feel the same. Service was good, food was good, beer cold but it still feels like every other place out there. Probably won't be back, unfortunately. If you like well lit, upscale, generic restaurants try this one out. The food is good but the ambience is off. read more

We really enjoyed the schweinshaxe mit kartoffelklöße/kartoffelknödel (ham hock with potato dumplings) and holzfällersteak mit zwiebeln und bratkartoffeln (woodcutter's steak with onion and fried potatoes). We walked in without a reservation and got seated at the bar while we waited for a table to open. Great selection of food and drinks and a nice casual place to hangout. My husband & I were looking for a restaurant that served German food while we were in Frankfurt. We wanted someplace that we could walk to, & I found Klosterhof (on Yelp) with lots of good reviews. We walked to the open door of the restaurant, saw the sign "wait to be seated". A moment later a friendly staff member waved us in to a table for (2). We started looking at the menu which was in German (but also English) with the items they had. My husband asked for a beer, consulted with a our wait staff & ordered up a tall glass of cold beer, I ordered a large Coke Cola. We asked if they had any chicken on the menu, she politely said no, but they had several turkey dishes. We then asked about pork & she said "yes" so we ordered up a pork schnitzel with roasted potatoes & mushroom gravy to serve one person. When the meal came to the table we thought "there's no way we could each have finished off a plate full of food that they served up for one person". It was a delicious pork schnitzel, my husband poured the mushroom gravy all over his pork portion (a full chop). I had mine just the way it was cooked. There was plenty enough food for us to share including a heaping portion of roasted potatoes that would be yummy with any Sunday roast style dinner! Later she brought my husband a bowl of cooked sauerkraut with more mushroom gravy. He was rolling his eyes in absolute heavenly pleasure. He told her he hadn't eaten that much in several years (and I concurred). Later she brought us out a delicious chocolate pudding dessert (that's what she called it). It was delicious as well, they brought (2) spoons with the dish. It was a plateful of a round chocolate pudding style mound, surrounded by a vanilla crème type of dessert that had crunchy (walnut I think dunked in some sugary concoction) that then had some whipped crème dolloped on each side of the plate. All I can say is that the plate was clean when they took it back. Everything was delicious from start to finish. The staff was attentive, but not overly so. The food was delicious & served hot or cold (depending on what the item was). We were both so full when we left that it was a good thing we needed to walk back to our hotel (to work off some of the calories from that dessert). We would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great German food with a good portion sized meal. You can tell this is a new building, I'd read a lot of reviews about their beer garden (she said that was at their other location about a 5 minute walk from the one that I found on Yelp). The seating was nicely done, they adjusted the lighting before we left for dinner mood. We arrived before 5 so it wasn't crazy busy, but it was getting more crowded before we left. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a good dinner without breaking the bank. We are so glad we found this gem of a restaurant while we were in Frankfurt. read more

Great beer garden! This place was authentic and a diamond in the rough. I'm so happy I search on Yelp and found this gem. The best brat and sauerkraut I've ever tasted and I'm not the huge fan of sauerkraut... these were delicious! My fiancé ordered the schnitzel, which was a lot heavier but pretty good as well. The house beer was superb... coming from a non beer drinker too. I love the decor and history of the place too. It's been around since the war. It use to be a place nuns and priest frequent. The staff was helpful and friendly, slightly rough around the edges but great sense of humor. This place is worth a gander... This was excellent. We were here at the end of Aug 2022. We came here with a party of 6 of us and just walked in (kinda). It was like early afternoon. We first were told (and it was not that crowded at all) that there was no table (not true - maybe they had no servers). This was told to my daughter from the young lady at the bar. One of the guys went in and talked to a nice guy and he was he gave us a table outside. I'm glad he was able to work it out for us because we had a very nice lunch outside. Very cute and authentic Biergarten in Frankfurt. We stumbled upon this place on Yelp and figured why not? The weather was great and we were hankering for some schnitzel. First and foremost this place is popular. We were number two in line and there was a queue out the door behind us and an additional two parties waiting bar side. The system was a bit confusing as someone who doesn't speak German, but essentially they ask patrons to wait at the bar until seating becomes available. If there isn't room to sit at the bar then you simply wait outside until space becomes available. A couple in front of us got discouraged by the lack of explanation and left, but within 2 minutes the place had moved two parties from the bar and we were promptly asked what we would like to drink whilst waiting for a table. Less than 2 minutes later a table was open outdoors and we were seated. Y'all it's not going to be American style customer service - you will have to flag down a waiter at some point - it is Europe, but by European standards the service was friendly and prompt. We started with the farmers bread and cheese which came with lovely caraway seeds full of flavor. Sampled the Hefeweizen and the house beer. Then we each had a schnitzel. The hunter schnitzel was tasty, but as someone who makes schnitzel with mushroom gravy at home - I really wanted more mushrooms. The spätzle though truly shined in this dish. The schnitzel with cranberry and apple with potatoes was also tasty, but I would probably go for the pork knuckle next time. My only regret was that we didn't have room for strudel. Truly a very lovely place for a romantic date or a group outing with friends. read more

Found this place on Yelp during my trip to Germany and it had great reviews. We sat on the outside patio in the back on a beautiful sunny day and it was great! I love the greenery and the European courtyard feel. Sam was our server and he was stellar! He was funny, accommodating, and very nice. I ordered the Hunter's Schnitzel w/ fresh mushrooms (no breading and substituted the dumplings for fries) and a Small Salad. The Hunter's Schnitzel was so good and the creamy mushroom sauce was a nice touch; I even dipped my fries in some of it! To drink I ordered a glass of Riesling and a glass of the Apple Wine. I'm pretty sure this place doesn't need my review, but everyone here was just so fantastic. We went here after our food tour guide in Prague recommended this restaurant, and they were spot on. When we arrived, there was a bit of a line, don't let that turn you away, the line moves fast and the wait is absolutely worth it. When we were in the doorway and we were going to be next, the bartender made eye contact with us, we said hello, and then he asked us if we wanted to sit at the bar and have a beverage while we waited. Not a single group before us did that, we felt so special! Note to the reader, make eye contact with staff! Not long after we were seated in the garden, and our server, Manuel took such great care of us. The food here is great, but the service was spectacular. The portions are huge! We shared 2 plates with 3 people and we were stuffed. The beer might have something to do with that too.. It is communal style so you sit anywhere you'd like, even if it's with a random person.. that's the German way.. Some people that walked in weren't expecting that so just letting you know.
