My family is known for our love, attention and dedication to our dogs and she treated us like we were the most irresponsible pet owners ever because we followed the advise of our dog's doctor. She went so far as to quote laws that aren't even fact. Another thing is they draw you in with pictures of dogs on their website then they are no where to be found. Also, I hope none of y'all are there if an incident breaks out as they allow people well beyond the capacity of the building limits in at one time. I think the purpose behind this organization is great. They should definitely look for a better "leader". One more educated and caring. All in all I can't be too upset. Their in compassionate demeanor lead me to adopt elsewhere and I have now given a homeless dog a family and home just in time for the holidays.

I filled out an application to foster the same day and received a call from Andrea not long after. From the time we took Beaux in, they have been so helpful to our family. They have taken care of all of the vet bills, meds, neutering, and just pure concern of a first time puppy owner. The adoption fee of $200 is a small price to pay for all that they do for the pet owner. I love that you have the option to foster or adopt. They always have events to raise awareness about adopting animals and not "shopping" for them. We love our baby boy and couldn't be happier with Adore Houston.

The rented space is large, airy, and spacious enough for several kennels to line the walls without overcrowding. Due to the high ceiling, warehouse style accomodation, it smells fairly fresh & clean in here. It's also dark and cool, and most dogs were found napping their way through the morning...a stark difference from other adoption places I've been to. It was easy to move through the space, and foster parents sat next to their pups like proud parents, eager to do a show and tell if so requested. What I liked most about this place is that the dogs here seemed to be happy! I rarely saw nervous, jittery dogs. Most were in their kennel, eager to play with visitors; others in their foster parents' arms, and some napping, barely opening an eye to peer at us. Though I did not come away with a new child that day, I wouldn't hesitate adopting one from this group. I spent a good 20 minutes talking to a foster mom about this organization and I'm completely thankful and hopeful that there are still many altruistic people left in this world. If you're considering adding a member to your family, please put Pup Squad Animal Rescue on your list as a must-visit.

This program is great when you think that most people want to get a puppy when they get a dog, but…read moreif you want to do your part and get a rescue dog, your chances of getting a small breed puppy decreases to about zero. They have dogs in all shapes sizes and colors and all (I'm pretty sure) in good health. Our first visit there we were just curious but pretty interested in getting another dog to play with our very energetic shih-tzu and one that was small enough to accommodate apartment living. We walked around a bit and they did have some really cute dogs, but it wasn't until we spotted this adorable pup that I had the "gotta have this puppy" feeling. They told us he was a puppy mill dog and that he was a Tibetan terrier and maybe about 3 months old. We personally didn't have all day to make a decision and were hesitant to commit on the spot, but they guaranteed that we could have a one week home visit to make sure that we wanted to keep him and that he was compatible with our dog. They would hold the $120 check and if we didn't come back, they'd cash it. So, for $120 you get a puppy in good health who's been socialized through the foster program with as many/all of the shots and exams needed for the applicable age an optional microchip to have put in later rabies and county tags You have to fill out an application form, but they review it on the spot and if you're a shoe-in (i.e. you have a dog or know the risks/responsibilities of having a dog) they let you adopt. It was a painless process and we are very happy with our puppy. These dogs are rescues so I'm attributing that to the fact that we weren't quite sure of the age, how big he'd get, and if he was really the breed they said he was (we thought he was a bit jack russell for a while, but now due to his size, we are back with the Tibetan terrier.) The other great perk to having a rescue is that I know at least the VCA will give you a free first exam for having just adopted a rescue. A great program and system for adopting puppies! Just a note, puppy mill dogs, as I later found out, can have a lot of health problems on their own due to poor/careless breeding. Do your research!

But when I brought the cat home she had round worms, so I don't like that they don't test them and deworm them. She also had ear mites pretty bad. The front staff at the desk when you walk in were not kind. They were pretty dismissive and seemed as though they didn't want to be there. Overall, I love the cat that I adopted. I got her taken care of at our local vet. :*)

His foster mother Vanessa did a great job with him and she also had his brother so we got to meet him. All medical records were up to date and impeccable really. I adopted a cat a couple of weeks ago from here, and I was very transparent with the fact that I have one at home already with anyone I spoke to. Not ONCE was I told that they DO NOT TEST FOR FiV or FeLV. Imagine my surprise and immediate worry when I email them during my new cat's vet appointment finding out these aren't standard tests. Not only that, but she is also showing a couple of signs of parasites, and has a paw with some sort of infection. This organization put my cat at home in danger because of all of this. I understand they may not have the money to test for two MAJOR diseases, but AT THE VERY LEAST they could have been transparent about it. I wish I could articulate better on how disappointed, upset, and angry I am. I can only hope my new cat isn't sick and my cat at home is well. I literally cannot believe this.

They regularly have a wide variety of pets available, including both small and large dogs with many different breeds. They also often have adorable kittens available for adoption. Pets here tend to get adopted quickly, so if you have your heart set on a specific dog or cat, it's a good idea to act fast because they don't stay long. Overall, it's a wonderful place to find your next pet and give an animal a great home.

Staff were friendly and kind enough to let us know the status of the opossum, apparently it had prolapsed anus with maggots :( but they did tell us with meds the prognosis was good! The transition was seamless and all we did was fill out a brief form. We also got to see a cool one eyed owl and a hawk in the window while in the lobby

I've been to my fair share of cat cafes in many states and continents, and El Gato is one of the…read morebest ones seen. Unlike many other locations, the cat room is the *central* focus of the cafe. Many other cafes will have a large room for you to sit and order food, but then a small room for the cats. Some of this is due to codes and sanitation rules about where food can be prepped or eaten vs. where the cats can be; El Gato circumvents this by providing food from a food truck in the parking lot, which you can then take into the cat room if it is covered. You can also buy Churu treats to feed the cats. There was a good variety of cats, from some very active and playful kittens to some more mellow adult cats. During my visit, there were probably 15 or so cats. I pet a lot of them, but particularly bonded with a little tuxedo cat. He looked absolutely terrified - was tiptoeing around trying not to attract attention, hiding under tables, and finally hid himself in a corner of the room. It was obvious he wanted to go out and play - he kept on watching the other humans waving their toys, perking up his ears whenever someone walked close, and poking his head out from the pen he was hiding behind. I spent a lot of time sitting next to him giving him gentle pets and speaking in a soothing voice. Hopefully it helps him get a little more comfortable with humans and he can come out of his shell :) Either way, whether you're more of a "play with the cats" or "pet the cats" or "simply sit and be with cats" person, there's probably a cat here for you!
