Dr Warnock is top notch and very skilled. The entire staff is very attentive and hands on. I am very happy with my experiences here.

I have been taking my horses here for several years. One of them had severe COPD. Texas A & M recently developed a treatment by using my horses plasma to treat his severe COPD. They made it available thru Brazos Valley Equine Hospital by using my horses plasma to nebulize with equipment I already owned. The protocol was to administer 6 vials of his own plasma every other day. The nebulizer sends the plasma directly to his lungs to grow new lung tissue! After about 4 months, results indicate his COPD symptoms are no longer there! It was a successful treatment! Many thanks to Dr. Ben Buchanan for making us aware of this new treatment! read more

I have been to numerous vet clinics and Brazos Valley Equine in Navasota is by far the worst clinic I have ever visited. The staff (Kaitlyn, Jessica) were rude, unorganized and unprofessional. My fellow animal lovers and I will never return or recommend this clinic to others. read more

I had mixed feelings about my experience here. Dr. Ben Buchanan oversaw the care of two of my lifelong, beloved horses throughout August and September. In the end, I ended up losing both horses within a month of each other and am beyond devastated. Dr. Ben has a good heart and cares about his patients. He is optimistic and advocates for the horse and is compassionate in dealing with the owner. The interns were generally kind - particularly Dr. Sarah. Dr. Sarah was great and invested in both horses. Both Sarah and Ben were always open to questions and took good care of my horses. Ben is extremely bright and gives you his personal cell phone number to contact him with any questions, etc. The individuals in the front office are also very kind and friendly. However, there were some concerns that I had with the hospital itself and the billing in particular. The main indoor stalls and the stalls in ICU are nice. The main stalls are not air conditioned, but they do have decent fans, and the staff is accommodating in that they are willing to set up additional fans, etc. that the owner provides. The thing that really bothered me about the main stalls is that the floors were wood. The first horse I brought to the hospital was severely neurologic, so he stayed in the stall with the sling, but the floor of that stall was so slick that he actually slipped and fell and really struggled to get back up because there was just no way for him to get any traction on that floor. I was brushing him in the stall when he fell and got trapped up against the wall as he was struggling to get up. Fortunately, neither of us were hurt, but it was super traumatic, and I immediately went to buy stall mats to be put in the stall for him. The outdoor (pavilion) stalls are a different story. There was one stall with a fan, which was not the one my second horse ended up in. Those stalls were unbearably hot and full of flies. The horse stalled next to my horse had his head hanging in her stall all the time and was covered in dry sweat for a whole week. The waters in the outdoor stalls were not dumped regularly. I tried to be cooperative and tolerated her being in there, but when the bill came after I had lost her, I saw that they were charging $53 per day for those crappy, outdoor stalls with an additional $12 per day for administering antibiotics that I had already purchased. I believe the indoor stalls were $78.50 per day and went up from there depending on the number of "exams" they were charging for. Having been accustomed to indoor, air conditioned stalls at Texas A&M that were $35 per day for prolonged hospitalization, I just felt that the pricing was unreasonable. I provided all of the grain and hay for my horses, so the hospitalization charges were literally just for use of the stalls. I have felt a lot of guilt since losing my second horse because of the conditions she stayed in during the last days of her life. Even at home, I have certain standards for my horses' accommodations and was just not satisfied with the conditions in those outdoor stalls. Additionally, my first horse was euthanized at around 9 am; however, I was charged for three "exams" that day on top of being charged for the actual euthanasia, etc. The clinic opens at 9 am, and I was there with him from about noon the day prior through his euthanasia and he did not receive three exams that day. I was also charged for Intranasal oxygen that day, which he did not receive, and despite Ben agreeing that the charge was an oversight, I never received a refund or credit for that charge. Furthermore, all of the drugs from the pharmacy at the hospital were overpriced. They were charging $63 for each tube of Gastrogard, when I could go a mile down the road to Tractor Supply to get Ulcergard (same drug) for $35. Lastly, after bringing up my concerns with the bill, spending nearly 10k at the hospital, and losing both horses, Ben told me via email that I should not bring any more horses there, which is just super upsetting because he knows how difficult this has been for me. read more

We used Brazos Valley Equine for a couple of years. On routine inoculations and minor problems they do an ok job (not exceptional by any means). We had an emergency where my horse spit his ear from top to bottom. I called Brazos Valley twice trying to get a vet to give me guidance on whether to bring my horse to their facility or if anything could be done to help. I never got a return call even after two calls and promises made (but broken). I called to talk to the owner of the Brazos Valley (Ben Buchanan). The front desk put me on hold for 17 minutes so I hung up and called back. After 6 minutes, I was told that that Mr. Buchanan was at lunch and he'd call me back. Three hours later and Mr. Buchanan hasn't returned my call. This treatment after spending literally $1,000's of dollars with them in the past. I was hoping the failure of Brazos Valley to return my emergency call was an anomaly, but it's become clear it's their standard way of doing business. Take your chances with these folks if you must; but if you've got an emergency you're likely in big trouble (or more importantly your horse is). read more

Dr. Kellerman is absolutely phenomenal, he treated my horse as if it was his own and checked him from top to bottom. He listened to what I had to say and was very understanding and informative. 10/10 recommend this Veterinarian. read more

All the staff at BVEH have been very customer service oriented from the minute I walk in the front office and ending with a post visit call on my sick or injured horses. Excellent Clinic! read more

My experience with Dr Pluhar and Dr Kellerman on two separate occasions was very positive. Dr Pluhar handled my mare expertly without stress in taking X-rays. He was compassionate to her buddy sour nerves. Dr Kellerman gave a detailed explanation of my TB hoof issues and explained the recommendations that left me informed and with a plan of action. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would! We took our pregnant mare in because she had colic. She had been carrying her foal for 365 days. The mare needed emergency surgery due to a twist in her small intestines. The mare made it out of surgery just fine and was in recovery only for them to somehow BREAK her leg which caused her to be put down. The foal was able to be saved and was doing well. Standing, nursing, etc. then somehow it mysteriously stopped breathing over night and died. If you love your animals do NOT send them here. They caused us to lose our beloved mare and now our little foal is gone too! Awful service. Will NEVER go back! read more

Brazos equine is my favorite vet clinic in texas. Their new vet on staff is absolutely wonderful. The whole staff is very friendly and always seems to do everything the can to make your horses happy. Their prices are fair and even on a day when I arrived late and after hours for an appointment, I was not over charged. I always recommend this clinic. read more
