The property is right on the lake with water toys available to play with (including kayaks), and docks for you to park your boat (or to rent one of theirs). There's also a heated pool, and a lodge with free wifi. The best part is that the resort is close to town so you can easily go and grab anything you forget. This is one of the only (maybe the only) resorts on Lake Winnie that have showers and bathrooms for families like us who have a pop-up camper. Most other resorts have vault toilets or outhouses with no showers. This resort is unique in that it is on the Southwest corner of Lake Winnie and on the Mississippi River. While the rest of the lake is getting pounded with wind and rain you'll be shielded from most or all of it. Besides serving us some awesome ice cream in his store; Tom was kind enough to save the day AFTER we left the resort. Our 17 year old daughter was "helping" us pack the car when she took a trash bag full of our dirty clothes and threw it away. I called Tom and he went dumpster diving for us. He found our clothes and held them until a friend at a nearby lake could grab them for us. Tom went above and beyond. We can't wait to stay here again.

And our grandmother has been going to Dixon lake resort and was a customer for several years, as we have been for 10 years now. They would rather not honor our deposit and lose our, and our families future business. None of us will be back because of this. This speaks highly to their character and told our entire family they don't care about us as a family. It's all business. This is how small businesses fail because they don't treat loyal customers well. Also, we had multiple issues this year which WE were very good about, took in our stride and didn't complain about. Because thats what you do for family, so we thought we were family. We and our family rented 2 cabins. Not inexpensive. We went without running water in our cabin 4 for an entire day, I cleaned cabin 5, vacuumed and removed spiders and spider webs, prior to being able to occupy, we continued to deal with spiders the entire week in cabin 5, we had no hot water in cabin 5 and unable to shower for that day, we never could connect to the internet because the connection was so bad AND the "clean" cabin 4 we used for over a week, had an empty condom box under the bed that we didn't discover until leaving today. These are all amenities that are to be included and amenities we paid for and did not receive. Then Karen sends and email to us stating "We all know if you had not sent us a deposit we would not have seen you this year". Implyinf we would not have shown up if we thought we knew we lost the deposit. Not true at all! We even rented more boats and things while there. Neither of them making it clear we lost our deposit. Such an insult after losing our grandmother, their loyal customer of several years, and all the years of business we and our entire family have given them. Couldn't be more hurt and disappointed. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere before you get sucked into their "family" resort.

The staff and owners were above and beyond helpful and nice. Their docks and dock boys were so helpful, I had surgery in January on my ankle so i needed a little help on and off the boat and they were more than helpful. I watched them help a elderly lady with a breathing tank on and off a boat. They have a swimming pool and a playground for the kiddos. There is also a beach across the way at Lost Lake for your use. Tracy, Ron, Joe, Lois, Liz and all of the rest were the best hosts and made us feel right at home. The only reason I downgraded to 4 stars are the toilets. They are far to short for anybody. Need to upgrade these. Saying that though we will be back again.
