Every single person that our son has worked with at this center has been so sweet, attentive and most of all encouraging. Cassandra and Bethany are the sweetest people who are always just so understanding and attentive to all your child's needs, strengths and accomplishments. They notice even the smallest gains and achievements and work to put together a plan that will work best specifically for your child. Although we haven't been able to access the inside of the location much at all since the pandemic started (only to ensure the most sanitary conditions for all the kids at the center), we know the center itself is super clean and well taken care of inside. Ms.Maura is an amazing teacher/director for the day program and is super knowledgeable on what works best for the kids here. She has extensive experience working with children on the spectrum and with any social/developmental delays and is such a sweetheart. She always comes up with the cutest projects and themes for the kids to focus on every week and tracks their progress thoroughly. She gets to know each of the kids individually and is a wonderful asset to this place. I have consistently recommended this place to people and will continue to do so, as this has been such a blessing for our family to have come across. Our son was enrolled at this daycare from approximately 6 months old until 2.5 years old. For most…read moreof that time, our experience was acceptable. That changed following a leadership transition, when the full-time director went on leave and an acting director assumed responsibility. During this period, several concerns arose. Most notably, our son was removed from his classroom and placed into a younger class so that the classroom teacher could supervise her 9-year-old son, who was present on school grounds but is not enrolled at the daycare. This occurred during normal operating hours and included times when routine care was taking place, including diaper changes, while the unenrolled child was present in the classroom. We were informed of this by administration and personally observed the unenrolled child on site. As a result, our son missed instructional time in his assigned, age-appropriate classroom. Shortly afterward, we were informed in writing that our son's continued enrollment required providing a full-time one-on-one aide. Our son has a speech delay and receives early intervention speech services; however, licensed medical and developmental professionals evaluated him and determined that he did not qualify for, or require, a one-on-one aide. When we explained that we could not meet this requirement, we asked hypothetically whether our son would be permitted to remain enrolled if a one-on-one aide were provided. We were told that he would not. Our requests for clarification did not result in further discussion. His enrollment was then ended, and no alternative accommodations were discussed prior to this decision. This resulted in sudden loss of childcare. We are sharing our experience so other families can make informed decisions, particularly those with young children who receive early intervention services or may require additional support.

I spoke to the guy who sets up appointments for the Nutley location. I had a conversation about my 18 yr old child needing tutoring to pass the HiSet test. I specifically explained how they have special needs, and really need one on one tutoring with someone who can teach them the math needed to pass the test. I was assured they could definitely provide this. So I made the appointment. My child shows up on time and no one knew why they were there. After straightening that out, payment was discussed. We only paid for one session. During this time my child mentioned how they have special needs, but no one ask what their needs were. If they did, they could have concluded that Sylvan Learning center is not going to accommodate them, this way I could have saved the $65 I wasted that day. It was crowded and noisy in the center. They got zero individual attention. They were put into a group of other students and given a tablet to work on. A child next to them had her tablet turned up on high, and it was very distracting. Very disappointed, and I feel like we were lead on to believe they understood this student's needs. But on the day of the appointment, the only subject discussed in detail was payment plans.

If you have trouble breastfeeding I highly recommend speaking with a lactation consultant. Being a…read moremom is hard and stressful. You need support and guidance on breastfeeding. With Aliza, I was able to find someone who I felt comfortable talking to and working with. She was patient and responsive to my emails. She was also detailed in her explanations. After Aliza, I no longer feared breastfeeding because of the pain. Both my milk supply and the latch has improved. Breastfeeding is no longer something that I hate and fear. Instead I cherish the bonding time that I have with my little one. Because of Covid, we did a video conference instead of an in-house visit. I thought it would be inconvenient and hard to explain things but it actually turned out ok.
