It was the perfect mix of competitive and hilarious, and it truly felt like we were on a real game show set. Our host Shawn and producer Blake were incredible. They kept the energy high the entire time, explained everything clearly, and made sure everyone felt comfortable jumping in. Even people in our group who had never really watched the classic shows were able to follow along and fully participate. It was organized, engaging, and just such a unique way to celebrate. We all left saying how much fun we had. I would absolutely book again and would love to try their Prime Time Showdowns next. Highly recommend for birthdays, group outings, or just a night out with friends.

When you get there, there is a video on the screen. That is NOT what it's like. Thank Goodness !! He looked at that video and was even more livid. I asked the lady can the scare actors not go hard on him. I pointed to the video and she said Oh, that's in L.A. where it's bigger and much more. After everything was said and done, my son loved it. He said Okay, that was pretty great. All of us agreed that it was the best one that we've done out of a dozen.

The basic premise is you and a group enter into a room or series of rooms with little direction and you must find clues to solve puzzles in order to finish the adventure. The complexity and difficulty are explained to the participants before purchase allowing the experience to be customized based on comfort level. Now that we've established a groundwork of what an escape room is, I'll describe my experience. I flew in to Kansas City to see my 17 graduate and spend time with her and my 14 yr old. It's somewhat of a tradition of ours to do an escape room. My daughter did some searches and based on rating decided to give "The Exit Room" a shot. I'm not sure how prices stack up for other facilities and I thought they were a lot higher than others however it was worth it. The Exit Room's location is fairly easy to find, parking is plentiful and the location in a safe area. Walking in is pretty neat with several areas great for photo ops. The guide (sorry if that's not what the person is called) was pleasant greeting us and gave us a run down of all the things we needed to know. He guided us to our destination, wished us luck and shut the door. I don't want to give to much away but, in the room, there's a monitor in case you're in need of hints. You hold up a sign for help and the "guide" will assist via intercom. We did need one hint and I rather liked the ambiguity b/c it wasn't to the point of "press that button" rather, "look closely at the puzzle and notice the direction." The carefully crafted responses were given to not ruin the experience. The puzzles themselves varied in nature. A physical slide puzzle here, a series of puzzles with colors there and several puzzles that had clues fit into a larger puzzle. Basically, the rooms are meant to challenge both sides of the brain but patience is a virtue. After successfully completing a puzzle an audio/visual cue is given thus a small shot of dopamine hits the brain simulating reward. While not only indicating the current puzzle is complete, it reinvigorates hope and focuses your attention on the next obstacle. I can't recall exactly but I believe my 60-minute adventure had a total of 15 or so puzzles. The only small issue I had was with the final puzzle but I'm not going to divulge my irritation with the implementation of said puzzle. Overall, my girls and I enjoyed the experience. While I'm a very deep thinking my greatest experience came from letting my kids take ownership and watching my oldest child take over, demonstrating leadership, organization and analytical thinking. This is an interaction occasion not a sitting on the sofa type of atmosphere. The Exit Room provides the perfect adventure for those willing to challenge themselves and try something different. I highly encourage everyone to take my "hint" and give it a shot.

First, it super cool getting to go to The Beast haunted house building to get to the escape rooms. It really sets the tone for the experience and we loved getting to appreciate such an old building in the day light. The younger gentleman that was working this day was great! He was very friendly, seemed to really enjoy working here, and did a great job explaining everything to us. The 6 of us were taken to our escape room and got our briefing. The room was a lot of fun and took some real brain power on some of the puzzles. Without any spoilers, the room was exciting, had some fun moving pieces, and we all had such a fun time. Now, all that said, this is my 7th or 8th escape room I have done. This one has some difficulty with solving certain puzzles but overall, I felt it was kind of on the easier side. I felt it needs a few more puzzles to actually solve because even though it took us 50 of the allotted 60 minutes, I don't feel like we actually solved "that" many puzzles. I was also hoping for maybe a little bit more of décor and stuff like that. I think some other rooms I have been to really put you into a more immersive experience. I definitely want to come back and try their hardest room(s). But overall, it was a blast and our group had a terrific time. But I think for the price we paid, I was hoping to be a little more impressed.

The staff should inform players that even if a room is occupied, they can scan their wristband and select their game to be placed in line. This would eliminate the next players eagerly waiting for the current players to finish their game to only have to keep waiting because they are hitting the green Replay button inside the room. 2. It would be helpful to clearly state that the doors open only when pulled closed and then pushed. Otherwise a push door indicates that we should push it. 3. If an adult must be present at the facility throughout the entire gaming experience for children aged 6 to 13, it would be beneficial to monitor this requirement. 4. And a lounge room with no refreshments for purchase?

I appreciate that each room had MULTIPLE options for game play. On top of that, you have the chance to play as a team and to play individually. I was not familiar with this trail so it was a little confusing to get to. Tip: you can access the trail by the tennis courts on Blue river rd. Tip 2: the bathrooms by the tennis courts were not open yet (March) and no bathrooms along the trail. Along the trail you pass lots of the park's amenities: shelter house, tennis courts, benches, playground, golf course, water, love lock bridge and more. If you do the entire hike it's about 5 miles. Parts of the path are secluded but I was with a friend and felt safe. I would recommend doing the hike with at least another person, although there were lots of people walking, running, and cycling on the trail. Good trail for all levels.

Honestly for being a younger woman with her kid I probably wouldn't go back by myself again, everyone was friendly though. Also a semi parked just off the dirt/ gravel way with a car and I didn't feel comfortable going that way so I had to just turn around completely. The people do come and clean the bathrooms which is good, I didn't go in there but I saw the guy going in at one point before my walk. By the bridge there was literally trash next to the trash can so like come on my fellow walkers do better.

We drove around for the better part of 20 minutes to find a suitable place to egress into the water, only to find trash in the water and around the land abutting the water. Honestly, I think the park service tries to keep it nice, because there was a bag in each trash can, and the cans were spaced 20 feet apart to give the hint that when a person has garbage, a person should place said garbage in the receptical. But to no avail - it was like someone had purposely emptied the trash can into the wind, fall refuse where ye may. I frequent parks in the greater KC area, and I'd say Longview is the most inhospitable of the lot. Additionally, we were trying to find a spot - as we like to do - for a picnic, and nearly every shelter was locked mid-day! We called and they told us it was by reservation only. Must be something to do with vagrants. Whatever the case, this was more government facility than oasis, and the wind rips nasty off the points if you find yourself so unlucky. No thanks. I'll never need a revisit.

It also offers unique activities that you might not see at other parks. Lots of swinging options. Lots of parking as well. I love this park.

First off, shoutout to Sydney W. What a fantastic guide. Since we were the last iteration for the day, she gave us a little extra time. We were so close to escaping Undercover (the hardest room), she new we would do it if we had like 5 extra minutes. We all appreciated this so much. So many other rooms we have been to would just stop you even if you were just one clue away. And nothing beats the satisfaction of knowing you did it and escaped. Went in to celebrate a friends birthday. We were the last group in for the night going in at 9 o'clock p.m. Ivy was great, incredibly funny and engaging. We had a great time so thanks to the Breakout crew, especially Ivy, for making the night so memorable. Both were labeled as Moderate Difficulty. I had a great time. The facility is clean. The staff were accommodating and very helpful. They only gave us hints when we asked for them. I would definitely go back. $10 for an hour of fun. You can't get much cheaper than that.

The room we chose was very clean and well organized. The game itself, titled "Betrayal", was not terribly difficult, but it was a definite challenge. Our small group was not successful; however the game made it very possible to succeed. There was a very small amount of mis-direction and extra information, but not too much. If you were successful in progressing past a step, you could figure out the next step without wondering if you were on the wrong track. On one hand, I wish the room itself was a little more decorated to feel more immersed in the theme of the game and add to the experience.. On the other hand, when you're racing the clock, you don't want too many red herrings throwing you off track. I still think that Exit Games could do a little more in this area without causing too many problems. My only concern about this room would be for a group of 8 adults; the Betrayal room was not terribly large and I'm not sure how comfortable it would be in there for 8. I think that "Betrayal" is great for 4-6 people aged 14 and up to complete without too much trouble, but it's certainly not guaranteed. The more 'puzzle lovers' in your group, the better. Our pre-teen children had a lot of fun and were able to contribute towards our progress. This was our first experience with an escape room, and we all enjoyed the experience. We will definitely go back to Exit Games to try their other room based on our positive visit.

The whole thing just felt like a stretch. I won't go into too much detail, so I don't ruin the surprise if you do decide to check this room out, but the locks were hard to open and when we did have a combination right sometimes we thought that we were wrong because we couldn't get the lock to open and ended up wasting more time when we in fact had it right. Many of us kind of gave up in the middle of the whole thing because it wasn't challenging or exciting; it was mostly just frustrating. I have been to other escape rooms in the past where the staff made us feel pumped and welcome when we got there, thus enhancing the experience. I did not get that feeling here; even when we received clues the lady who said she would be watching and listening to know where we were at had no idea how far into the puzzle we were or what we needed next. She gave us the wrong clues or clues that didn't apply yet because we weren't that far along. We spent more time explaining to her what we needed help with. And FYI they do not accept Groupon deals on Saturdays.

You know, a cipher with many layers of translation (colors, letters, numbers, words) which make it more convoluted but not particularly clever or intriguing. No coherent storyline. When we would ask for a hint (unlimited hints are offered) the Game Master would ask several questions to ascertain our progress. Questions which could easily have been answered by watching us through the video or noticing that, yes a drawer was open or an item was in a particular place. You should not have to spend that much time describing to the GM where/what is happening in the room. My biggest complaint is that after time ran out they would not explain how to solve the room. I would've been satisfied with a brief summary. We had two children with us and we were playing the game at a leisurely pace. If we had thought we would not be shown the final solution we would've asked for more hints during the game. We also probably would've chosen an easier room. Their website clearly stated, "If after 60 minutes your group is still 'trapped' our game master can show you the solution - if you want it!" We DID want it, but they refused. (The website was changed shortly after.) In an email response to my complaint the owner told me, "The website stated we CAN show you the unsolved puzzles but does not require us to do so..."
