I stumbled upon this park when I was pregnant with my daughter in hopes of finding a safe park that I'd be comfortable bringing her to and Roe Park is just that plus more! My daughter has been here since she was 1 month old. After taking her first steps, she walked the trail of roe park. So it's safe to say that this park not only gives you a fun time but there are great memories built here too. They have a play area for the littles and for the bigger kids, a walking trail for walking and bicycling, tennis courts, baseball field, open yard space for both soccer and football, benches and shelter area, and when it's hot out...a water park! I highly recommend this park to parents and guardians, I guarantee your kid will walk away happy after visiting. read more

Visiting some family members in the Overland Park neighborhood around mid-October, I had a few hours to spare and thanks to YELP, found this wonderful park. These are the kinds of parks that make my heart warm. As for activities, there's a couple playgrounds, tennis courts, baseketball court, soccer fields, a walking trail with a small creek surrounding it, and plenty of space for kids (and adults) to run amuck and enjoy the outdoors. Other things offered are covered seating areas, picnic tables, and restrooms that surprisingly are clean! Speaking of clean, the people here make sure to do their part and keep things tidy. This involves the basic human acts of courtesy such as picking up and throwing away their trash and picking up the crap left from their pets. It was quite busy when I arrived as there was a kids birthday party, several people walking the trail, and a few couples having a nice picnic. On a Saturday when the sun is out and there's a nice cool breeze, I'd expect nothing less! read more

what a great use of space and way for the community to gather together to use the outdoors. I have only been here a few times and am always amazed at the amount of people using it. On top of multiple play areas, there is a splash park, over covers for picnics, a large walking trail with pavement, and exercise equipment. We used this space for a birthday party and it was the perfect size. While setting up, kids were able to play within watching distance on the park area. The equipment is updated and new. It also offers unique activities that you might not see at other parks. Lots of swinging options. Lots of parking as well. I love this park. read more

My granddaughters and I visited this park for the first time today. There were a lot of fun playgrounds. There is one as you enter the parking lot to the left that is large and the kids enjoyed it. Also connected to the splash park, which has a variety of nozzles that spray off water and varying degrees, there is another large playground with a variety of climbing toys and equipment. There is a bathroom located right next to the splash area. There are a variety of benches and picnic tables next to both parks for lunches or shade. It was a well-maintained park. We do not try any walking areas because it was extremely hot on the day we visited. read more

We love stopping by Roe Park when we're in the mood to be social! Always hopping with kids and moms, Roe Park is a popular play place. My kids have fun being around other kids and I have fun empathetically nodding at all the other tired moms. In the summer, they have a splash pad available and there are plenty of benches for a picnic or a snack. read more

I used to love going to this park, nearly every week. Then the updated it...AND totally made it better! Great park. Two playgrounds, what feels like 6 baseball fields, and a tennis court that I'll have no humility in saying I've made more than a few competitors cry. I don't believe this has lights at night, last time I checked. But The proximity to a miles-long paved trail path is convenient to say the least, the shelter here is nearly second to none; alas, it is second to the oak shelter in lenexa. Unfortunately. It's a nice place, cops frequent the parking lot for some reason, and the water park for the kids is just swell. Really, they have a great couple of playgrounds, and the trees if you'd be so bold are labeled for your perusing and education. I really love this park, and as a resident of Johnson County is only a few bucks to rent out. It's huge, and it's only a stones throw from Blue Koi - what with it's handmade noodles paired furiously with their sinful ginger chicken! Try the Gyoza with dipping sauce too! After a bike ride near the Indian Creek trails, I couldn't help but think, "My kiddo would love this area." We brought her out here that same evening for a picnic and a "hike" (aka, a walk) on the surrounding trails. Now I will say this was happening during Covid-19, so we weren't able to take advantage of the playgrounds on either end of the park. They one on the north end looks awesome with stones, logs, a splash park, and a general nature area surrounding the playground. Instead, we opted to just walk the trail and see where it would take us. One trail, just over a bridge, has some narrow wooded offshoots that you can explore -- I would guess they're mountain bike paths? Either way, it's fun when things are as vibrant green as they are in mid-May. The rest of the park is really just a big open green space; a few baseball diamonds, a picnic shelter, and overall fine. I'm glad this is all here, and it's certainly an upgrade over a decade ago when there wasn't as many interactive things for kids. read more

Parking was easy, it wasn't crowded, there's a nice long path to walk on that's stroller friendly, and it seemed to be well kept / maintained. There's a little mini playground with a mini slide that my 11 month old had fun on! read more

Great park! It's huge! There are 2 playgrounds, a splash park, tennis courts, soccer field, baseball diamonds, picnic shelters, real bathrooms (!!!), and an asphalt walking trail with exercise equipment along it. Really, this park has a lot to offer. One playground is brand new and consists of a huge playset for the big kids and one for the toddler age. There's a nature play playground and splash park as well. The second playground is across the massive parking lot and is older, but still well maintained. This park is busy when the weather is nice. Lots of people use the trail and playgrounds. Plenty of parking is available. read more

Loving the new renovations to Roe park. They have added new restrooms, playground, picnic area and splash pad. This area is perfect for all ages. Enjoy the features aimed for the toddler age so smaller kids don't get trampled by big kids. Park is clean and well maintained. Tip: get to the splash pad early so you beat the crowd. read more

This is a nice park on Indian Creek Trail. Amenities include a paved trail around the park, a play area, two covered picnic areas, a public pool, a nice piece of art (see picture), two tennis courts, three softball fields, an open area for soccer fields, a nicely-sized parking area, a drinking fountain, and restrooms. Unfortunately, there was some noise from local traffic, which drowned out any sounds of nature. read more

Ever since I was a child I've had arachnophobia. So, when a huge spider decided to drop down right in front of me this morning at Roe Park, I had to separate out the icky feeling of Mr. Spider from the comfortable ambiance of the park. Roe Park has a few athletic fields surrounded by a trail that connects with the wonderful Indian Creek Trail. Alongside the fields sits a large parking lot and a pool along with a few picnic shelters and a small playground. The tree cover and the cool breeze coming from Indian Creek are the highlights of this park. You can also easily connect to Nall Park on the trail, honestly it's hard to tell where Roe Park ends and Nall Park begins. A great spot for an early morning walk or an afternoon picnic, just watch out for spiders. read more

Roe park is a nice entry point onto the Johnson County trail system. The trail system goes for miles and miles and connects several parks along the way. I routinely jog from Roe Park to Leawood Park on the trails and my wife will jog from Roe Park to 103rd and Metcalf to Prairie Life Fitness. The park itself has numerous soccer fields and baseball diamonds that can be quite busy on the weekends. The park also has a pool and a playground. I typically ride my bike to the park, the nearby sidewalks have entrance paths into the park if you know where to look. The park also has plenty of parking if you drive a car. read more

This park was recently renovated and they did a stellar job! You've still got the baseball fields and other open fields perfect for soccer or football. There is a large shelter on one side of the parking lot perfect for hosting a get together/cook out. The other side they've built a nice restroom building with water fountains, a great play ground, suitable for children of different ages, there is an in ground water splash pad that was very popular during the summer, and then there is another shelter that has been the sight of many birthday parties. The last piece are the two tennis courts. Great quality and they've recently installed a wall that allows you to practice drills. The only downside is that they opted not to install lights, which does make sense since this park is basically in the back yard of some houses and I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate the lights coming into their windows until 10:00 pm. There are lots of parking spaces available so I'd definitely say to check this park out! read more

Roe Park is a favorite for our three and a half year old son, both the splash pad and the playground. He loves to play in the fountains, and the playground is challenging him to develop his motor skills and improving his confidence. He also likes the engineered "natural" stream and water pump. We live pretty close to Roe Park, so it's one of our regulars. read more

WARNING. my 5 year old granddaughter got 2nd degree burn on her bottom when sliding down the slide at the splash park. Serious and painful for this sweet little girl. Please don't let children in swimsuits go down that darn slide in this hot hot weather. Makes me so mad the park would have a slide w material that gets that hot! Shame on them. read more
