Adj: Treasure Trove of Yummylicious Yarn and More!…read more Another incredibly special and quite exclusive store in Sacramento that I somehow have only visited once or twice long ago, and which I've not really appreciate until now. I'm so glad that I have finally paid a meaningful visit to Rumpelstiltskin Yarn Store recently. Rumpelstiltskin, located on the R St corridor, is quite a long-standing establishment in Sacramento that has been providing the Sacramento fiber art community with supplies and knowledge for over 50 years! Rumpelstiltskin sells a wide selection of high-quality yarns, fiber art tools, and other supplies for crocheting, knitting, spinning, and weaving, so there's definitely a great variety of products offered here for various interests. Perhaps because the skill level of my two fiber art hobbies, crocheting and knitting, are quite elementary and have not improved much over the years, I've so far had all my yarn needs met at the more conventional arts and crafts stores of the big box variety. But as I am getting more serious about my yarn hobbies, I'm now interested in finding stores that offer more specialized products and even provide classes that will help me improve in my crafts skills. I am also looking to connect more with the fiber art community in Sacramento because my venture into joining that community so far has shown me how warm and welcoming fiber artists are and it is totally possible to learn from seasoned hobbyists and pros/teachers if one puts their mind to it. I've even connected with some very local yarn enthusiasts at my local library and I'm sure they all have visited Rumpelstiltskin. On this visit, I saw lots of exclusive brands and types of yarn made of much better material than I'm used to using. From basic wool to more specialized Merino, Alpaca, and Shetland, there were many different kinds available. One I particular liked was the cashmere wool which felt heavenly. I learned that Rumpelstiltskin makes it a point to partner with fiber farms and other small boutique fiber suppliers to source yarn and other fiber products that are not only exclusive, but that are truly local and US-made as much as possible. Rumpelstiltskin even shares the stories behind each brand they carry and even hosts "Farm to Needle" events to introduce some of their thoughtfully curated products that are specially selected for their quality and uniqueness. As such I noticed that the prices of their products are definitely several times higher than that of regular arts and crafts stores, but again Rumpelstiltskin sells really high-quality yarns and supplies. I did not have any questions for staff during my visit, but I saw a class taking place and noticed that besides the looks of concentration, it was smiles all around as everyone was really enjoying their class, so I'm also going to look into taking a class or joining in one of Rumpelstiltskin's events. Just from a quick glance at their website, I see offerings of beginner's knitting classes for adults and kids, an embroidery intro class, a felted slippers class which sounds super interesting and practical, a sweater class for those who are ready for bigger projects, and even basket coiling, spindle spinning, spinning wheel, and weaving classes. Besides the classes that have costs associated and private lessons for those who want 1:1 instruction, there are also monthly and periodic free knitting circles for kids and social stitch events. I did not interact with staff today, so I can't speak on customer service, but maybe on a future shopping trip, I'll hopefully be helped if needed. In short, Rumpelstiltskin really is a wonderful staple in the Sacramento community for fiber art beginners, hobbyists, and pro-level enthusiasts alike and I'm so glad I know more about Rumpelstiltskin now so I can feel comfortable to come back for higher-quality yarn and supplies for more serious projects as well as for classes and events to connect with our local fiber art community.

On top of that, I've been coming here for years and been met with nothing but experienced, thoughtful interactions that help me to complete my projects! Independent yarn stores are a dying breed. I urge you to support your local economy and put your money in the pockets of REAL people, not Joann, not Michael. Rumpel FTW

This is one of the best if not the absolute best school in Northern California. My friends and I passed the exam all on our first tries and all got jobs within a month of our testing dates. I started with a different school and after two days I realized it wasn't as advertised and pulled out. Came straight to Easy CDL after reading the Google reviews. It was a night and day difference between the awful first school and Easy CDL. Since then I have had more than 5 friends become truck drivers and they all went through this school. You can read their other reviews on here. Every one of us passed first try and are now happily making good money. Thank you for making my transition into my new career easy for me.

Just as you may be doing now, I did my due diligence & looked over all the positive reviews that former students had. After calling & speaking with Ali, I knew this was the right school for me to attend. Eventually I made the 3 hour drive up there & spoke with him in person regarding the whole process & about his program. After discussing everything & receiving a tour, I signed myself up. As a former student, I can attest that the whole experience & training here are beyond great. From his generous hospitality to his great instructors, Ali provides YOU the student with all the tools needed for you to obtain your license. Sometimes in life we can encounter individuals or business organizations that can care less about providing a great service & only care about taking our money BUT that is far from being the case here. Ali genuinely cares about the student becoming successful in passing & obtaining their license. If you have any questions or need assistance, there is always someone in the office to answer them. Outside there are numerous instructors that fully engage with the students & assist them with the pre-trip, skills or driving as needed. There are also several yards provided so you can practice your skills & pre-trip. Overall, if you want to obtain your commercial license & in the process be properly trained, this is the school you want to enroll yourself in. In the end, those long 3 hour drives to & from the school were well worth it. Ali, may God continue to bless you & prosper your business. I highly appreciate you brother, thank you & your nephew for all of your assistance during this process. Best Regards, Rudy

From my very first phone call with Marcus, the professionalism and dedication really stood out. He was supportive and invested in the process from start to finish, and it was clear that he cared about helping his students succeed. The program itself is well organized and very student-focused. The school works hard to get graduates scheduled for their DMV tests as quickly as possible--often within about a week after graduation. The cost of the DOT physical, permit and two DMV drive tests is also included in the tuition, which is incredibly helpful and takes a lot of stress out of the process. They offer both morning and evening classes, which makes it much easier to fit training into different schedules. Students also get the opportunity to train in both manual and automatic trucks. The instructors were excellent. Bob and Zach were both friendly, professional, and encouraging. Bob brought many years of experience to the classroom, and the practical advice he shared is something I will carry with me throughout my driving career. Zach is a very effective teacher and takes a calm approach which allows the students to look to themselves for what to do next. This builds confidence which is vital for testing and driving in general. Overall, this was a great learning experience and I'm grateful for the guidance and support I received at Western Pacific Truck School.

Treat it like your own experience because it is basically a way to learn and practice to apply for licensure/certification. I was in a phlebotomy technician course, and I liked it because we practiced blood draws (including capillary puncture [finger stick] and venipuncture) so many times on so many different vein arrangements and on both the antecubital area (inside of elbow) and dorsal hand (opposite side of the hand's palm side - "veiny" part). I feel like when I came in a lot of people did not have background on health care (e.g., anatomy and physiology, terminology, etc.). I was so happy that I took classes at CRC and SCC (Los Rios) before coming here. After the phlebotomy technician course, I ended up getting my license in phlebotomy and continued to do courses here (medical assisting). It's nice because with the cost of tuition for medical assisting (MA) we get textbooks/supplies (a big textbook, a workbook, a medical terminology book, 1 set of scrubs, and a stethoscope). It's nice to work with all different backgrounds and ages. I would say it is getting better, and I do like the job workshops held by the staff (Lindsay Cosgaya, Jim Wirick, and Mr. Dan Davis). A lot of people should read the license (Certified Phlebotomy Technician I) / certification (for MA it's a certification not a license) requirements and try to get some basic anatomy down! You gotta do lots of work on your own even before. Also: phlebotomy (blood draw) makes people feel weak - make sure you have lots of time to eat and drink and rest because it's a quick course but you have to practice a lot (get 50 successful draws).
