The teacher of the week would forget to give my daughter the full lunch I packed, or routinely misspelled her name on her worksheets, or forgot to take her to the bathroom while she was potty training. One teacher was arrested, and I saw and reported a teacher being verbally and physically abusive toward the children. The response from the admin was blasé. They insisted they would keep an eye on that class, and then reported that they didn't see any signs of abuse. They also lied to me on the phone while I was watching the events unfold live on camera. When I would bring up an issue with the admin team themselves, they would blame the teachers and then tell the teachers I was mad at them, forcing them to apologize. Absolutely toxic. The playground has one play structure with one slide. During the summer, they took away the gymnasium room from the younger kids, so they were stuck in their classroom all day. Why am I paying over 100$ a day for this?

Our kids (2 & 4) had a tough time adjusting to both moving and new childcare - but the staff at Right Steps did everything they could to help them adjust, and both of my kids are thriving there. I'm really impressed that every room has all teachers, as opposed to a teacher and assistants, and all the teachers I've encountered have been wonderful.They're learning so much, happily talk about their friends and teachers, and my daughter has even eaten some salad! I was placed in the front of the school in a room with approximately 10-12 other children with ADD. We did well in subject matters but had trouble staying focused and seated. What I do remember very well were the beatings we all suffered from the teachers. One was named Lauer, possibly Alfred. Back in the 60s, they used old-fashioned yardsticks to keep us in order. They would beat us until we cried. We had nobody to appeal to, as we were just a bunch of 7 year old munchkins. How bad could we have been? Lauer would first verbally torture the children. Then, if we reacted in an adverse manner, he would take his yardstick, which was never far from him, and beat the living crap of the child in his sights. Although we were not part of the larger school with many autistic children, we did have lunch with them in the lunchroom. I remember quite vividly those poor souls being beaten and abused by the staff. They never tried to hide or cover up the abuse. Delta School and others have been successful for the past 5-10 years at deleting my eyewitness account of what went on in this hellhole. Every time I post what happened there, they complain and my review is deleted. Next time, I will file suit and testify in Philadelphia court. This is a truthful account and they want it quashed. If you love your children, DO NOT send them to this school.

In other words, just because they've been around forever and have a ridiculous contract with the district does not mean that they are remotely close to a quality care institution for children. I was horrified that I even let my child be alone there for the short amount of time we were 'registered' - a mere few days...and $800 later - only to be refunded a couple hundred. There is NO curriculum, they don't actually DO anything with the students but herd them into classrooms or a gym. I heard a thousand complaints from them about the 'new' facilities and how much they DON'T know, and every question I had about curriculum or process was met with the same - it's a new facility. I still have the SAME expectation and pay the same price - there should be NO excuses. How hard is it to take a tour, come up with a plan, and put on a good face for the parents and students! No checking ID's. No introductions or tours. Nothing. And can somebody please get their employees new ID badges? The torn up, taped up things they have dangling around their necks are a true reflection of the kind of service they provide. Worn out, sloppy, and sad. We are now scrambling at the last minute to figure things out. Don't go down that road. Or, see for yourself. Ask for a tour. Stop in and see the kids in the morning just sitting there or playing wildly in the gym. Homework you say? I don't even think they will know the child'd name by the end of a few months let alone helping them with their homework. Snacks? a few pretzels. Outside time? ONLY if they have certain footwear - otherwise - it's back inside to sit in a classroom like a dog.
