I have been terrified of the dentist for some time. Kind of like the car dealership, you have a go-between who talks billing and insurance with you away from the nurse and dentist. It's discrete and comfortable without pressure. My nurse (dental hygienist) was Susan? Or Sandy? God she was an angel. She was so kind to me breaking down and upset and in pain. She made me feel so comfortable talking about stuff and offering anything I might need. My dentist was Dr Taylor who was incredibly knowledgeable and proficient. I got out what needed to come out and I even scheduled an appointment for regular maintenance later this month. I was made comfortable to be there, whether I needed nitrous or a valium, either are available. And they make sure you are physically comfortable with numbing. Mentally comfortable is hard, but true kindness shines through in the folks who work there. I got a kids "reward" (shark plushie) to hold while I had my procedure. When I left I got a "goodie bag" with full instructions on what I had done, extra gauze, and an emergency card. It's a little hinky getting in with the road construction on witchduck road. But soon as your turn on Grayson, by the church, it's there. There's an employee entrance on the witchduck side and another saying Ste 200 on the side, even though the dentist is Ste 100, this is the door you go in.

The procedure only took about an hour and Dr. Schreiber and his assistant, Aidan, made sure I was comfortable and pain-free before leaving the office. I used to love coming to the dentist (we all have our quirks, people!), until I had a bad experience at our prior dentist. I decided to give Smile By Design a go, and I love it (although I can't say I LOVE getting dental work done- I'm now a normal person that dreads the dentist). I've had filling removal & re-fills done, and I expressed my fear & anxiety to Dr. Santos, and she was so calm and patient with me during the entire procedure. That first experience I had with her made me feel totally comfortable and I trust her completely with my teeth. I think they do offer a lot of options, and some people are put off by that, but I'm gonna tell you- I bought that expensive Bluetooth toothbrush they offered me, and while the Bluetooth part is whatever (IMHO), my teeth have never felt better and my hygienist notices a difference in my teeth (which I totally believe!). My teeth feel like I just got a cleaning every single time I brush with it (which is nightly). Dr. Santos also suggested I get a soft night guard, and while my insurance doesn't cover that, I saved my pennies and got fitted for it. In summary, I do feel as though this dentistry has my teeth in their best interest, and I would recommend anyone going here! If you've had bad experiences at the dentist, be honest with them about it and I think they'll baby you like they baby me. We need it!

The front desk staff was welcoming right away and even thanked me for completing my forms ahead of time, which was a nice touch. The dental assistant who took my X-rays (I'm assuming that's what it's called) came out to get me and was super kind and easy to talk to. She explained everything as we went and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. After the imaging, Dr. Hernandez came in and went over everything they found. I honestly don't remember ever having a dentist be that thorough. He took his time, explained things clearly, and made sure I understood what was going on and had all my questions answered. This was just the first visit--they'll do the cleaning and anything else at a follow-up--but overall, everyone there was wonderful. It's hard for me to even say this, but I'm actually looking forward to going back. I told my youngest son and his wife (who are local and looking for a dentist), and they are eager to be seen by Dr. Hernandez and his staff!
