The doctor did not feel my neck and jaw to detect cancer. The hygienist did not have the standard extra person to call out the 3,2,2,1 gum health numbers to which slows down the appointment.

I am the only person in the reviews who's noticed that the office doesn't answer their phones. You also see my first name clearly at the top of my review. Rather than calling, I went in to see my doctor after a weekend in pain. I was informed "that he was going into a procedure," and the staff member escorted me back to her desk. I explained my issue, which was that from the medicine I was finally prescribed, I had an infection. I had an emergency, and the care I received when I was in the office didn't extend to after-hours.  Providing exceptional customer care and service can't be your top priority when, in fact, your phone calls--I know "customer" calls--go straight to voicemail. I sit in the office at every visit, and I do not hear or see anyone answer a phone call. No one. As the staff member listened to my concerns, in hindsight another staff member (brunette, with a ponytail) came and sat right next to us. Pretending to stare at the computer screen, "being nosey" and "eavesdropping," which was unprofessional, especially when your customer realizes what you were doing. On the contrary, this woman could have been answering the phones. This is a pretty large office, and it looks like they have ample enough staff that could also cover the phones, as in other smaller dental offices with smaller staff. Whenever I ask why phone calls are going directly to voicemail, I get this look as if the individual doesn't know how to answer because I've heard all the lack of excuses. As here, you're telling me to call the office, but you don't answer the phones.

He did so for me even though the tooth he worked on had a root canal and could not feel pain any more. I had to get a crown worked on right before surgery and he got me in and worked out a fix in order to avoid any dental issues being a problem. He tries to keep costs down and is so nonchalant about it. I trust him with my and my daughter's teeth and would recommend him to any and everyone. He is a genuinely caring person and will listen to your needs! I'm grateful for him.

Called the office when they opened . On hold long enough to drive over and be IN the parking lot when they FINALLY picked up. They told me to have a seat and they would get to me. Went in and waited until 9:27. Told them I was leaving. They called me in the parking lot and said my appointment was for 9:30 and they would never give me another emergency appointment! They NEVER told me they worked me in!!!! I wish Dr. David Konikff had never retired.

Fair warning this review is long, but thorough. I don't think I could heap any higher praise on the staff that I've worked with in the last two days at the Foleck. I called in with a medical emergency situation. Basically, my situation was that I needed to get my teeth fixed as quickly as possible, so I could medically clear, and then start a Covid shelter in place on Sunday so I could go back to the ship. Not a lot of time. I had developed tooth pain while I was working on a ship offshore and Chesapeake Bay. It was to the point where Ibuprofen wasn't working, preventing me from sleeping and, I had to get off the ship. Once I got to shore and to my vehicle, I called them and they brought me right in. This first appointment was with the Hygienist Katelyn and Dr. Hamlin. Katelyn was really polite and understanding of the situation. Very easy to work with and patient. I chose Hamlin because I had seen a video she had done, talking about when you come to Foleck, it's a judgement free zone. I haven't been the best with my teeth, so I found that very comforting. When Dr. Hamlin came in, she was very nice and I could tell she knew her craft. I felt at ease. During the exam they could see that I was going to need a Root Canal. So I left and went to the Endodontist, and out of sheer luck, and the Dr. Becker understanding the emergency of the situation, decided to do my root canal that day, instead the following day. This is on a Tuesday. Come Wednesday morning, I called Foleck and Becky was able to move some things around to get me in for a temporary crown and fillings, again super short notice, but Becky moved the heavens to get me in. So I started with my appointment, this time with Hygienist Nicole. Nicole was also really nice and a joy to converse with. I certainly felt at ease with her. She got me prepped for the crown surgery. Very important note, they use a extra strength topical that numbs you up pretty good. When Hamlin did the numbing shots, I barely felt any sharp pains. So lets roll in to that, Hamlin starts doing the numbing shots and my nerves get the best of me, I reached out my left to hand, looking for a hand to hold. Nicole immediately recognized the gesture and allowed to hold her hand. Mind you this is the second time in today days that I'm the shit poked out of my cheeks. I don't think Nicole realizes how much I needed that and how much it calmed me down. I'm super grateful to her for it. The crown procedure went smooth for the most part, there a couple times Hamlin to do some more numbing, I guess I'm one of the lucky few that am resistant to numbing. You really get to see how skilled Dr. Hamlin is with her craft. She was super patient, anytime I needed to ask a question, she would pull the rubber piece holding my mouth open so I could ask it clearly. Speaking of which, Nicole was really good at understanding what I was trying to say with stuff in my mouth. So in closing, I have a hard time trusting a dentist, probably the trauma of bad visits as a kid. But with Katelyn, Nicole, and Dr. Hamlin, I felt safe and in capable hands. The Foleck Center, Becky, and Dr. Hamlin came through for me in my moment of need. They got me taken care on extremely short notice and time. Plus I'm from out of state and a new patient. I was so thankful I asked Hamlin if I could give her and Nicole a hug! So I most definitely recommend this place, and will definitely will see Hamlin again!!!

They give you a lot of reminders before your appointment and they email you paperwork to fill out before your appointment. My hygienist was so awesome. She was thoughtful, and thorough and explained everything that she was doing and even took the time to explain my X-rays. She was so amicable and made me feel so comfortable. This was the best and most painless cleaning that I've ever had. When the dentist came in after my cleaning, he briefly talked to me listened to my concerns, and was able to refer me out to an orthodontist. I am so happy to have found this establishment.

For all the years Ive been in Va Beach, his practice has to be the best Ive been to. There scheduling is always good. They try their best to accommodate you with your chosen time. When you get into the office, you rarely have to wait long because they work like clock work. Don't get me wrong though, their hygienists aren't rushing you because they always do a great job and make me teeth feel squeaky clean but they're just fast hard workers. When it comes to the billing process, they make sure they check with your insurances and make sure they get covered but if its not they offer payment plans. And if you ever been to a dentist you know how pricey that gets... Another thing, if you're like me and you hate when you get dental work and they need to administer anesthesia, Dr. Bergano for some reason does it so good I barely feel the pain of the needle. I cannot say enough good things, especially about the pediatric department and Dr. Spruill! Late yesterday afternoon, we called to get our daughter seen following a playground mishap. They graciously agreed to fit us in at the end of their day. Dr. Spruill evaluated our daughter and was glad we brought her in immediately. Though we had initially been told any procedure may have to wait, he stayed well beyond closing to make sure she received the surgery she needed. He and the assistant made sure she was comfortable throughout and called back today to check on how she was feeling. They communicated easily with my husband and I, ensuring we understood what was being done as well as follow-up precautions needing to be taken. We absolutely love this practice and I have frequently recommended them to friends and family! It is clear that they truly care about their patients.
