I am writing as both a concerned loved one and a mental health professional. Our family's experience with Brentwood Springs in Newburgh was deeply concerning and, in my opinion, reflected serious gaps in communication, discharge planning, records handling, and continuity of care. During and after treatment, family members were left without clear information while the patient was still experiencing confusion, cognitive impairment, and withdrawal-related symptoms. In that context, communication is not a courtesy. It is part of safe care. One of the most troubling issues involved the release of information. Family members were told the patient had declined or had not authorized communication. However, after waiting approximately 30 days for records, the release-of-information paperwork appeared to show that the patient had provided the necessary signed authorization. That is not a small misunderstanding. That is a serious contradiction. If signed authorization was on file, family should not have been told the opposite. That misinformation directly affected our ability to support the patient, ask appropriate questions, understand what was happening, and help coordinate safe follow-up care. The discharge process was also concerning. A patient should not leave inpatient behavioral health care while still cognitively impaired and symptomatic without clear referrals, medication guidance, safety planning, follow-up coordination, and communication with appropriate supports when authorized. We were also told records could take up to 30 days to release. In the context of ongoing symptoms and discharge needs, that was unacceptable. Families should not be left chasing basic information after discharge, especially when that information may be necessary to support safety and continuity of care. This was not simply poor customer service. It felt like a breakdown in care at a moment when the patient needed structure, clarity, communication, and follow-through the most. Patients deserve better than vague answers. Families deserve better than being kept in the dark when authorization appears to be documented. Discharge from a behavioral health facility should come with more than confusion, delays, and unanswered questions. I strongly urge Brentwood Springs leadership to review its communication practices, discharge planning, records-release procedures, and how signed releases of information are verified, honored, and communicated to families. I would not recommend going here if you don't have an addiction problem because it seems that is their primary focus. The only addiction I've ever had was with cigarettes. The therapy they use is group therapy, sharing in front of strangers. I've had a very abusive life and I don't want a bunch of strangers knowing my struggles. One woman, when she found out in the meeting that everyone was going to hear her story, she left and never came back, I don't blame her. She drove all the way from another state for treatment. There is a serious mental health crisis in the USA, if you haven't noticed from all of the school shootings, and it's not getting any better. I have been searching for years for treatment for PTSD, anxiety and depression with very little luck. Doesn't surprise me when you consider the father of psychiatry was a cocaine addict. read more

Does NOT even rate a 1! Everything is OLD, The food is so Nasty, and you pay a high price. It is a total JOKE. They expect you to take a shower, and you don't even get a dribble out of the faucet! Same in sink, not even enough water to wet your toothbrush to brush your teeth. The Whole place is a Total JOKE. I was treated for depression because I lost 3 daughter's in death. They gave me 5mg. anti-depreciates, like that was going to help!! The Therapy classes were a joke as well. Unless,,, you have lost 3-children, you have not a clue what a person feel's like. Drawing and Coloring, WTH!!! Nurses were RUDE, I would not have fed my dog the food to my dog. Could not wait to get out of there to see my regular therapist. They have bed bugs! My friend just got out of there and she is more traumatized then when she went in. She said she had to lie about her mental health status to be released to go some please different. My friend was raped they made her strip down naked in front of them to perform a "skin test" which just involved waving a metal detector over her naked body. Then they had her in a room that they new was infested with bed bugs. She woke up to bites all over her. Then she kept complaint she was dehydrated they did nothing u til it was too late her heart rate is really high and BP is low she ended up on the er 12 hours after she passed out in the shower. They waited 13 fucking hours. Today she's at her regular fr and they are refusing to fax over her vitals so the dr can figure out what they did to her. Seriously a horrible place . read more

Had a family member that got checked in. It took 4 days to get a report on his medical condition. When checked out, he told me about the horrible conditions, the obscenely rude and neglectful staff, and the general disregard to the patients health. I am suicidal, the worse I have ever been due to a lifetime of abuse by my own family. My appointment was at 7pm, nobody at the front desk to help me for over 40 minutes! The employees I did see behind the glass (2-3 employees) wouldn't even acknowledge me at all. Once I finally got back there (7:45pm) they put me in a theatre room and the employees from the office kept SLAMMING the office door like every 30 seconds, the same 3 employees just to fray me even more, it is now 10:40, no bed, nothing. Covert harassment at its finest! They are purposely doing this to upset me even more. Sounds crazy, huh? Nothing but the facts. read more

I recently checked into Brentwood Located in Newburg, from a relapse on alcohol that occurred 2 weeks earlier. On 3/10/2015 .I had gone there for alcohol issues. They kept me there For 10 days, due to my concern of being released too early. I stayed sober for 3 years. Stepping Stone admissions was 8 times, obviously not useful for my needs in recovery. I have ran 9 marathons, play tennis, etc. I lived in Florida for 26 years, sold my home in Boca Raton that I purchased in 1995 in 2005 due To extensive business travel & therefore having to hire contractors for the pool & grounds keeping. Decided to Rent @ a whopping monthly payment of $1600 per month until I had an idea what The housing market was doing. I have worked as a Financial Analyst for 22 years. My grandparents were both 92 & my grandmother's health was starting to deteriorate. Mom & I made the decision to relocate here. Every job I interviewed for I was told I was over qualified Or would leave if I got a better offer. I think my Harvard education may also have been a fact. After three years my grandparents passed & caring for them depleted most of my savings. I got a supervisor position offered @ The Goodwill on Greenriver Rd in the Shop Goodwill .Com initially and then was told they needed me to supervise in Housewares. They had promised me upon acceptance that I would get 40 hrs a week & full health insurance benefits. It never happened, I developed severe Carpal Tunnel Syndrome that was so painful I couldn't sleep. Soy only option was to go to Urgent Care across from Gateway. For 14 months I went to have a steroid injection in the hip. I couldn't get a primary care Doc cuz of no insurance. I was treated as if I was a drug addict(which was strange since I wasn't asking for anything but the steroids) one female doctor even made the comment "Have you even been tested that you have Carpal Tunnel. The other doctor made a comment that I had Lupus????What he was basing this diagnosis on was nothing more than a rude remark that was unprofessional & unwarranted. This past Sept I was told I had Avascular Necrosis, that my femur ball joint had no blood flow, all the tissue was dead & I needed a hip replacement. I found this out 2 weeks after I got accepted into an RN program which really sucked as I had to deal with tons of pain & be unnoticed in fear of an instructor black listing me. In two weeks the other hip is getting replaced. Brentwood of course would only prescribe IB Profen, and other drugs that I had no idea as to the reason for. At one point when I questioned the psychiatrist about an ointmemt needed for an allergy I had developed on my face that was almost healed when I arrived, Both doctors lied about ordering another prescription(even though I had brought one from home) So for 3 days no prescription & the healing regressed. I simply expressed my concern as to why I keep getting told It would be delivered that AM & the nurses would tell me more order had been put in. He got so angry, told me to get out of his office now! I told him I didn't mean to offend him. He just said, "Im done with you! Now get out!y therapist didn't want to hear about this because as he said I was being negative. Told her I wanted to leave immediately I was told I would have to sign a form stating that as t I was leaving "AMA" And only the doctor had the power to make the decision of that date. Of course by the time they got the paperwork to him, he was gone until the following day. This basically took away The ability to go out(even though I don't smoke)I was not allowed to go to the cafe with the 7 people left (I was the only female) which be came pretty obvious in group therapy in which she was speaking to the guys in a total different mannerism, praising them, etc. At the end of the therapy she had a plan to to do whatever it took to humliate me and started making accusations that she didn't believe for a second that I hadn't been taking the 7.5 Hydrocodone & drinking. I had already told her that I stopped the pain medication almost two months ago. Never liked taking it in the first place. I also mentioned if yu you would have checked test results from my urinalysis & blood test you would Clearly see this. I finally said Erin, I am trying to remain positive, & I Absolutely refuse to let you or any other staff member take any power away from me that will jeapordize my sobriety. She kept asking when My discharge date was. Told herI had been there 6 days, felt I needed a couple extra days. We left the er meeting & no sooner than I walked in my room , the nurse was knocking saying "you need to get packed, your out of here. It was an awful experience. Since I couldn't leave the unit I not only did not get breakfast nor lunch. This is not a safe place any longer. This was the worst experience ive had at the time I checked in I went to the hospital by ambulance instead of being able to take my vehicle for medical clearance for treatment i was cleared then stranded at the hospital with no way back Brentwood was called by the hospital and my family to find out what's going on how im supposed to get back for treatment my family is over an hour away the hospital arranged for a cab and pd for it so I could return to my vehicle when I got back to Brentwood still no communication only the secretary would talk take my number for their business department to call me considering I was now in full responsible for the complete ambulance and hospital it was nor an emergency even as im standing there I still get NO TREATMENT Or even the so called safe we want to help environment called back the next day to speak with someone about what took place and what I came for in the 1st place TREATMENT nobody had answers wanted me to come back start all over with a new assessment I wasted a entire day cost me 3 grand out of my pocket not my insurance bc of how this was handled entirely unacceptable you can't help someone if you put them in bad situation in this stage of needing help look around this is not the place as advertised they are not sincere in your needs or care very disappointing read more

This is BY FAR one of the worst so called "mental health" or "drug rehab" hospitals I've ever been to! I check into Brentwood because of alcohol problems and left hooked on 4 different types of pills. My roommate was sent to the hospital because the nurses over medicated and neglected him. This "hospital" is in extremely poor shape and disgusting for being "brand new". All they want is your money here! You'll be better off at Crosspoint....I know I was! read more
