Outpatient surgery. Staff is amazing. Bed is good. Doctor is fine. Was very well informed about each part of the process we were going through, but the television will not work with the remote, and it won't work with out it. I know that sounds like a petty thing, but honestly if they won't take care of something small like the tv, how are the other electronic serviced? I'm talking about the ones that help save lives. The television would have greatly reduced my family's stress as a good distraction, if it only would work. Coming 2hours early is a lot when you spend the majority of it just sitting thinking about your procedure. You need to do better St. Vincents . read more

This hospital is our preferred hospital in Evansville. They take good care of their patients. At least in the ICU and the 5th & 6th floors. And they answer family questions - whether in person or when we call on the phone because we're not at the hospital that day. Also, the chaplain(s) are great. read more

Assentions Rehabilation Center is the very best in the Evanville area and I have been in many in this area. From the doctors, nurseres, therapist, tec's, housekeeping, and bringing food hot and timely. I didn't have one complaint. The doctor's put me on a restritive diet and food services always tried to help. I will always try to stay at St. Vincent's Rehabilation Center if need be however they are limited in space's since the unit only has 24 beds. Most employees have been at this facility for many years and are very happy with their employment! read more

Care Quality or lack thereof. Seen in ER. Front admitting staff was caring and concerned. In the treatment area, not so much. I pushed the call button for help from nurse, they did not voice answer or show up in person, but I did hear about the vacation plans and airplane info. The 2nd nurse and the social worker were atrocious and even unprofessional. Along with a health concern, I also had some severe mental health concerns going on. The social worker took 3 hrs to show up and then had the nerve to snarkily ask me "well, what do you want me to do?" I was made to feel like I was unimportant and in their way. I have always checked "excellent care" and "highly recommend". Not after last night. read more

Pictures of room that was prepared for my Mother. When they wheeled her in there I immediately thought something isn't right. My shoes seemed to be sticking to the floor. I thought I had to be imagining this as the RN and two techs didn't notice. A hospital, especially a Covid room would be sanitized, right? I dampened some toilet paper and wiped a small section of floor and was sickened. Picture below along with two more. They did move her to a cleaner room and apologized and did their best to assure me they would get to the bottom as to why the room wasn't taken care of and was signed off as cleaned. read more

Worst ER experience!! Worst hospitalization experience! I took my 87-year-old mother to the ER on a Saturday with severe diarrhea and fever. My mom laid in the ER bed for 45 minutes (maybe longer) without ANYTHING to cover up with. She had fever and was shivering, but she asked 4x (3 different people) before she was brought a cover. During the 5 - 6 hrs she spent in ER she never received a pillow. In fact, she was told they don't have them in the ER. I could go on & on about the care she received, but it can be best summed up by saying the doctors and nurses lacked compassion and dedication to their profession. The ER experience was just the beginning of a long list of misdiagnoses and a 6-day horror-filled hospital stay that has ended her relationship (and the entire families) with St. Vincent's forever. It took 6 days to get test results back from a stool sample that was positive for a bacterial infection that she wasn't treated for while there. She went 36 hrs. without a nurse or Dr being aware her bladder was full (which could have caused death if left unnoticed much longer.) If her family wasn't there to speak on her behalf and advocate for her diagnosis, she probably wouldn't be with us today. Patient relations was called in the midst of all the misdiagnosis and 3 weeks later we haven't received a follow-up call. No follow-up calls after being discharged by anyone either. And two weeks after being discharged we are still trying to get her medications under control (they changed all of them while she was there.) DO NOT TAKE A LOVED ONE THERE!! I rate it "1" because that's the lowest option, but that's better than what it deserves. Please head this warning! KM read more

Will never go again. Took my daughter to the ER for a possible appendicitis at 10:30pm on a slow Friday night. We waited over 3-1/2 hours to even be taken back to an exam room. Well my 73 yr old sister taken to ER wasn't even given wrist band. Took one look at her, she had fallen, couldn't walk, confused. But she looked a mess, OH COURSE! They took blood, sent her home in less than 2 hrs. I requested further care. Something is wrong, this isn't her. Couldn't even get her in her apartment that they sent her home to. I went to the St Vincent Urgent Care Center on Rosenberger Ave on Evansville's west side yesterday. I made the appointment online. I had a nagging ear infection that just wouldn't go away. Dr Hunter gave me a thorough exam and recommended I add steroids to my drug regimen. I woke up this morning without pain! I was there for 40 minutes from the time I walked in to the time I walked out. It was a very pleasant experience. read more

My daughter visited for bi-weekly allergy treatments. They would process the bill through the insurance, then bill me for the remaining balance. I would immediately pay the bill online using their online quick pay portal. In Dec 2016, I made a payment and it did not get processed. I didn't realize until the next bill. I thought that was strange since I had confirmation of paying the December bill, but paid the new statement immediately. The bills were usually for around $15 to $17 each, and the HSA account I was paying with never had less than several thousand dollars available. The next two statements came, were paid, and cleared. On March 20, I received a bill for 3 Feb treatments and paid it immediately through the portal. I didn't receive another statement until June 5th, showing they hadn't taken the March payment until May 3rd. I paid the current balance on June 6 and received confirmation of payment through their portal. Great, done. On July 8th, I received an account past due notice. I looked at my HSA account and the June 6th payment was not processed. I went to their quick pay portal and made the payment again on July 8th. Again I received confirmation of my $32.55 final payment. The next communication I received was a collection notice dated October 3rd. I received this in DECEMBER because they sent it to the wrong address. When I called St Vincent they couldn't explain why I have confirmation from their portal, but no payment taken. They couldn't explain why they didn't try to contact me between July and October. They couldn't explain why the collection letter went to the wrong address. They kept insinuating that there wasn't enough money in the account even after I offered to show them bank statements for the entire period. Finally they said it was a collection issue, and hung up on me. If you must use St Vincent, I suggest calling them to pay a bill. DO NOT use their portal, or if you do, make sure you follow up and make sure they actually take your payment. Keep track of EVERYTHING. Also, their debt collector, Med-1 Solutions, is shady as heck. Whatever you do, do not give them any information other than to check the current balance you owe. You can pay via a web portal, through an automated phone system, or through one of their operators. If you pay via their operator, they will charge you a $7 processing fee. I would buy a gift card where you can load the exact balance you owe, and pay that way. Then they can't touch any of your bank accounts or credit cards. read more

My 73 year old sister who has been suddenly falling and confused was taken by ambulance to ST.Vincent ER. she also as a skin condition (so I believe was judged immediately ) . No wrist band was placed. They drew blood work came in and told her she could go home. I asked about a CT scan answer was won't show if she had Stroke or TIA. Family Dr. disagrees. Had to stay over night on 5 south. Can't sat enough good things about the nursing staff. I have never had to stay over night before these ladies and gentlemen did evrything to ensure i felt comfortable and had everything i needed to make a full recovery. My husband went there for lab work yesterday. The woman stuck him in one arm and couldn't get anything. Had to stick him in the other arm so he came home with band aids on both arms. Whether it's St. Mary's or St. Vincent's, there is a problem with the billing departments. I recently received a collection statement from 5 years ago! I called my insurance company to see if claims were submitted for the dates of service given; consequently, they showed no submissions. Now 5 years later, I am expected to pay the full balance with interest for something that should have been covered. Of course, insurance will not go back that far and St. Mary's/St. Vincent could careless. RI-DAMN-DIC-ULOUS!!!!! read more

No respect for the treatment of the elderly, looking over case records, releasing when should be admitted, admitting under observation to waiver your medicare and on and on. My grandma recently broke her ankle while going to the bathroom. She went to St. Mary's, and she is a Diabetic and it takes over an hour to get her food at lunch/supper time after she orders it! They are not FAST! She has been high several times, and they did not give her extra insulin to cover her high blood sugars! I am a type 1 diabetic and know how important it is to eat at a certain time of day, the nurses weren't on stand by for her. read more

What prompted writing this review is that I got out our hospital bracelets (from 4 years ago) for my son's baby book, and the ink is almost completely faded on them - almost unreadable. I wanted to go online and find a way to let moms know to scan those in if they want to save them, because in a few more years I am sure they will completely blank. Mine from 40+ years ago are still completely readable. But now I want to completely review my experience with St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, IN: I gave birth to my son at St. Mary's 4 years ago. First of all, I found out I was pregnant late in my pregnancy and I told all of the nurses and my doctor that I had no time to take pre-natal classes and I don't know anything about the birthing process. Then when I was in the hospital after giving birth the nurses drilled me, in an accusatory manner, as to why I did not know I was pregnant for 6.5 months, and why I didn't see the doctor during that time. Well, I actually saw 3 doctors because I thought I had something wrong and none of them said I could possibly be pregnant. One of those doctors was affiliated with the hospital. But those nurses came at me like they were trying to blame me for something - I'm not sure what. I couldn't believe it. I also said that I want as natural of a birth as possible. I asked about mid-wives and any other type of natural assistance, and they seemed to have no clue where I could find that information. On top of being induced, like I really did not want but was scared into thinking I'd harm my baby if I didn't, the nurses brought in nurses "in training." So every time I was probed and prodded, already miserable and trying to go without medication, it had to be done TWICE so the "in training" nurse could practice. It was just awful. My nurses the last few hours of delivery failed to call my doctor when they should have, and my doctor was really mad at them by the time she arrived and she scolded them in front of me (which I didn't mind, because they were awful nurses and deserved it). Another practice this hospital uses is to whisk your newborn away to the nursery if you say you are too tired. I had my husband in the room with me and he could have taken care of the baby. This hospital is too quick to take the baby out of the room and does not attempt to let you know how important it is to bond with your newborn the first several hours/days of his or her life. Of course any mom hopped up on heavy painkillers and sleep deprived is going to take the easy way out. I trusted them to do what was best for my baby, Not do everything for me because I was too tired. Some moms might like that aspect, but I believe it to be a horrible practice. It should be a last resort, not first thing offered. The saving grace were the nurses who took care of me after my son's birth, and the lactation specialist was AMAZING. This is something I have been thinking about for FOUR years - my son is now four and I still feel the same way. My husband and I both were very unhappy with St. Mary's Medical Center and our overall experience. We would never recommend it, and have often considered writing a letter to the Administrator to share our negative experience. I'm sure that letter would be buried and never see the light of day to the public, so that is why I am doing an online review. read more

Er visit for a migraine s few years ago was great. They treated me and it worked very well. Fast forward to this year. Same Er, same reason, very very different treatment. They didn't treat my headache with something that would actually stop it. They treated it with something that they KNEW would only lessen the pain then sent me home with the same pills I had been taking the night before that did not work (basically the entire reason I had to go to the ER). I will never waste my money going there again unless I am dying. And they treat you like you are some kind of criminal if you ask for something stronger than the medication they ate giving you. Horrible doctors. The nurses are very nice and try to help, but the doctors are just plain uncaring. read more

Worse hospital ever.. I recommend not to go there if I was u unless u had to. Last year whenever my husband had phnemionia they said he had double them switch it. Then said he had gallstones then said he didn't . Then about killed him by putting him on a oxygen tank and he didn't need it. He had to be on that tank to breathe for almost a week by them putting him on it. And today I went in for allergic reaction for peanut oil throat swelled and they treated me for mosquitoe bites . And I asked them why did they put that on the paper work. And I needed the shot and did not get a shot they gave me two steroid pills that are not working. I called the nurses were very rude and smart asses. I will be calling to turn st. Vincent in. They need to be tore down. They went from st. Elizabeth to st. Mary's to st. Vincent. read more

I had Surgery to repair bladder prolapse, it was scheduled for about a month because it kept being postponed by Dr Ali Azadi from suite 1100 in the womans department. I was told I would have my bladder tacked and then, I would be stitched back up, I was also told I would be admitted for 2 days following the surgery, for leg compressors on to keep from getting blood clots, and monitering & on the second day I would have my cathider removed, packing removed exc. to see how well I function. After this Dr rescheduled my surgery twice after I had to reschedule plans for it, for child care, exc. I go in for Surgery and was basicly patient dumped as I learned they have been doing to patients without top notch insurance! Nothing about the surgery changed except he added an anterior repair, that I did not know anything about! He told my husband 30 to 45 mins and I would be out of Surgery, my surgery started at 9:30am and I didnt get out of surgery until 11:15am, so my husband was scared something went wrong,I finally came out and I was being discharged, the nurses were very shocked, they couldnt believe I was being pushed out the door after almost 2 hours of Surgery when they had a bed ready to take me upstairs to be admitted like planned. I was released to go home with a cathider in and it kept gushing liquid and hurting severley everytime I stood or changed positions, peridium stained my couch, so I call his office and his nurse tells me he is out for 3 hours, so he finally calls me back hours later, My husband spoke to Dr Azadi, because I was in tears and trying to deal with the pain and the cath tube coming from inside my bladder was so long it kept backing up,gushing out instead of going to the bag and he told him that, and this Dr said it was fine it was suppose to do that, he said no its not! The Dr tryed to argue with him, so he told him we are coming back to the hospital ER because something was not right! The Dr got mad at this point,Im geussing because my insurance only pays so much for a surgery being HIP, he did not want to share it with the hospital for the stay or ER! We go all the way back to the ER so Im assuming thats why I was pateint dumped after a month of him saying I would be in the hospital 2 days.I spicificly told them I was there because my cath was gushing and hurt severley from an earlier sergery that day,and when I get back to a room after sitting in the ER for a while he tells me he was going to do an exam,I figured he was going to check out the cathider he did a vag exam to check my stitches and says oh your fine go on back home,I tell him the cath is not right, I had one before he yells at me to the point my heart rate and blood pressure was in crisis state, the machines were beeping like crazy, another Dr was standing there and I said I want a second opinion I was in tears and then he has the nerve to yell again saying I cant give you anything else besides hydrocodone 5 or it can hurt your bladder, then walks out mad, I guess he wasnt happy the ER was getting some of the insuranse funding! So he tried to act like I was just a pill junkie so the other Dr wouldnt wonder why he was treating me so cold after surgery yet not once would he listen and fix the cathider! I told him I didnt care and want a second opinion again! A very kind nurse then comes in and checks my cathider and he said it was not right, it should not gush all down my legs staining with peridium and tells me it was not suppose to be floating, it was suppose to be saddled and taped down! After he fixed it, I felt so much better besides my heart racing and bp in crisis from the Dr yelling at me arguing and trying to dump me again, refusing to simply listen! They had to scan my wrist band,he scanned the one from surgery and it told him I was in the computer suppose to be admitted up stairs to a room number recieving meds and said that was very odd being I was discharged! Then I was given 2 doses of Ativan to calm my bp and heart rate down, then I was doing better, they were getting ready to admitt me being I was suppose to be there and the Dr that refused to help me and shoved me out after surgery causing me so much distress walks back in my room and says so you think you need to stay! It was the hospital Dr who was admitting me I did not ask to be admitted, and being he was so heartless and uncaring treating me awful, my blood pressure and heart rate sky rocketed again, even after my husband had asked Drs and nurses not to let him come back in my ER room but he did! Then the ER Dr came in and says oh we thought you knew it would be under his care, I said NO after the disrespectful way he treated me, why would I want him caring for me? Then I was told he was the only Dr that could watch over me, and, I had to sighn myself out, I was so upset but my husband realized they discharged me with an iv in my hand and I had to go back to have it removed! Human rescources was contacted never called back its been 4 weeks! read more

Finally saw the light when arriving with a spinal injury, I was told by the dark haired nurse, with arms crossed that the ER was full up. I only thought that possible during a civil emergency. Learned later that evening that more staff was laid off. That information fit like a lock and a key! read more

I really didn't have any complaints about this hospital until almost a year after their services. I had paid off my balance of my share of the costs months ago. In June of 2014, St Mary's decided that they left off charges for a procedure done in July of 2013. They rebilled my insurance and as a result my co pay amount increased. They billed me for this amount and expect payment in less than two weeks. In my opinion this is criminal behavior and insurance fraud not to mention a poor business decision. They tried to blame it on my insurance company, but several calls to both revealed St Mary's was responsible for the revised amount. How in the world did it take them 11 months to discover an error in billing, then expect the patient to come up with it in two weeks. Shame on you St Mary's! read more

We have been to the center for advanced medicine twice this week. Once for labs and a few days later for a CT scan. The registration process is the worst I have ever experienced. Stand in line at the first desk to give your name then told to go sit down in a commons area where there is a lot of coming and going because it is just inside the main door. There is also coffee bar there and people are everywhere. After waiting there for 10-15 minutes someone has to come out and scream your name for you to hear them. They take you around the corner and show you where to sit then they have to go back around, through the door and back to their cubicle. Geez, there has to be a better way to do this. The computers and printers are slow. From there told to go around the corner to imaging where you have to register again!!! Today's registration process took 45 minutes and the patient is already in the system from earlier this week. There is absolutely no excuse for such unorganized chaos. On a good note, all the employees we encountered were courteous with the exception of the manager in registration, she could use some people skills. read more
