Yes! This is a great day to spend the day with friends. If you love beer and even if you have already been to all the breweries on the cruz this is just plain fun. You get 20% off beers at all the stops so you can try them all! I went with samplers at every stop and most of the places had food offerings as well. We took the public tour on "Slowboy", a 64 VW Split window bus. Neither built for comfort or speed but rather style and that it has plenty of. Being public you sgare tge bus with others that also signed up online up to 8 people. Chris our driver was a local with lots of knowledge about the stops and luckily could drive the manual transmission... There is also a larger school bus available for rent that can be booked privately with a minimum of 8 folks. This tour costs more but I believe they actually pick you up at your house which would be nice. The public tour starts and ends at the Dream Inn so you have to drive home from there... (pro tip: show up early and start with bloody Mary's at the Jack O'Neill lounge) One gripe is the tour promised to meet the brewers at each stop but that never happened. There was the opportunity to take a brewhouse tour at discretion but it was offered to us just as we got our food and beer and sat down to enjoy them. The timing sucked as I would have really enjoyed that. Local or not, this is a good time for sure and I will do it again soon. Book your tour today online! read more

We had great time. Annie is amazing. I recommend this to anyone who is planning to have a group gathering/event.

We had an excellent time with Annie driving us on Betty Jane to 3 different breweries. She had arrange with them ahead of time to get us a tour and tastings. We loved our first stop at Sante Adarius - both the beers and the tour - it was informal but very interactive and we got a pour straight from the tank! The next stop at Discretion Brewing also featured a tour by Rob, the owner. We got to choose 6 beers to taste, and ate some wonderful Italian food. Last stop was at Humble Sea - here, there was no tour (nor were we ready for more), so we just got 4 tastings. There were food trucks to get snacks. It was the least interesting of the 3 places, and perhaps we'd have more fun at Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing next door. Annie was a great host. She regaled us with stories and was a font of knowledge about the local brewing industry. She was an amateur brewer at one time, and her love for beer comes across in the tour. The bus was super comfortable. The ride was slow and scenic. We didn't even realize how time passed, and we got to the end of the tour in a little over 4 hours. So. Much. Fun. We filled up Slowboy to the max and headed out for the afternoon. Chris was our Chauffeur and he was the perfect piece to our puzzle. We hit up 4 places.. 3 were scheduled and the last placed was a quick walk around the corner from Humble. We were at each place for about 45 minutes to grab a beer or two and then head out to the next. Chris would give us a 10 min last call warning.. and then we'd all pile back in the VW bus and cruise. Slowboy has Bluetooth connection to hook up your own tunes but the sound system lacks as speakers are only up front. So if music is super important.. bring your own block rocker to bump. Also, make a playlist before hand.. you don't want to be messing with your phone in the bus the entire time and miss out on the views of Santa Cruz. We would do this every weekend if we 1. were rich and 2. can handle getting hammered often. Definitely would recommend!! read more

Had an amazing time and would def do it again. It's def an experience everyone who likes beer should try.

This is a 4 star review, but it's not because of the Brew Cruz Bus itself. So Annie (and I believe she said her friend Chris had a big hand in the restoration project) has a great thing going. As far as I know she's the ONLY Beer Tour bus serving the Santa Cruz area. Standard tour runs around $50 per person (if you get 15 people), but she also does non-private tours for $65 per person. The tour is for 3 stops at local breweries from Highway 1 Brewing Company up in Pescadero, down to Corralitos Brewing Company in Watsonville. Each tour stop includes a pint or a flight included in the price. Annie won't drive all the way up to Pescadero and then down to Watsonville, so you gotta pick 3 breweries that are kind of close together. Don't worry, she drives the scenic routes. The bus is a great little 1989 "Short Bus" (Betty something-or-other) that bounces along the road while you and up to 14 other people enjoy libations (Beer OK, hard alcohol not OK) and snacks (chips/water provided, AWESOME). The bus has very comfy couches and the most awesome "Captain's Chair" that lets you taunt the poor sod who's stuck in traffic behind you. We bought our own beer to enjoy, and the bus has a nice cooler that's deep enough for growlers and 22oz bombers. Annie has a great mix tape that seems to play all the great drinking songs, which we found ourselves singing out loud to more often than not. Good fun. The bus is kid friendly! Our 3yo daughter came long for the ride and LOVED every minute of it. I think she mainly loved that she didn't need to be strapped into a car seat for the journey. With me so far? If riding the bus was the whole review, then 5 stars, I can't wait to go again. Now here's the ONLY problem that we all noticed, and if it wasn't for this small (maybe big) thing it would of been a perfect outing. It felt like the breweries we went too... Weren't expecting us. So I got this Brew Cruz from the New Bohemia Brewing Company Kickstarter. I pledged for the free brew cruz for me and 11 friends, and while the brewery didn't make their proposed January opening, when they finally got up and running in April 2015 I was finally able to cash in my Brew Cruz reward. The Cruz had a lot of dates filled (calendar on their website), so me and my friends decided a Sunday (April 19th) afternoon would work. We decided to meet up at New Bohemia at 1pm, then tour to Corralitos, Sante Adairius, and finish back at NuBo. Annie told us she'd let Nubo (and presumably the other 2 breweries) know of our schedule so they'd expect us. The Brew Cruz and the Nubo kickstarter hinted at brewery tours, which got me excited. My entire group doesn't drink regularly in Santa Cruz, none of us had been to Corralitos or Sante Adairius, but I love to hear anything I can about the breweries were visiting. The fan faire at all 3 places was less than I was expecting. I can't complain too much as all 3 places looked like they were swamped with business (always good). Maybe it was because it was Sunday and none of the owners were on hand, but I never got any inside scoops. I struck up a slightly drunken conversation with the folks at Corralitos and got some back story, also the guys working the counters really knew the beer they were pouring so that was cool. But come on, 12 people just got dropped off at your business, and in our case we'd all never been to any of these breweries before, and you can't jump over the counter and say hello? Nubo thanked us for supporting the kickstarter, reserved the upstairs big table for our group, but then said we could order our beers at the counter (instead of taking our orders). Nubo gave us 2 cheese boards which were very nice, but it was all a very sudden end to what I thought would be a grand finale! No one showed us around, no one asked if we wanted to purchase discounted merchandice, glassware, etc. Honestly, we all had big wads of cash in our pockets at the end of the day. It was quite shocking. Most of us were still buzzing hard. I could of easily bought 3 Tshirts and 4 of Nubo's cool drinking glassware... We decided to just take off. Breweries are dropping the ball, and I don't know if this was just rotten timing (Sunday), or something else, but I'm planning to put up some reviews for the 3 breweries we visited so someone is alerted to the oversight. I do know that we WILL be going on another brew cruz in the future, and I also know that we will not be visiting Nubo, Sante, or Corralitos next time. (well maybe Corralitos, their beers were cray cray!) read more

At last, I was able to use my Xmas gift for the Brew Cruz and it was everything I dreamed of and more! Our guide, Annie and driver Zane, were very knowledgeable and friendly. It was a great selection of breweries. We loved the Brew Cruz and it is "must do" whether you are a local or a visitor. First off, it was super easy to book the trip and also very affordable for a full day experience. We did a private tour for my husband's birthday and all I had to do was send a link out to our friends and they were able to book their own ticket for the bus. I had some questions leading up to the tour and Annie was very prompt in responding to my emails and helping me decide on which breweries we wanted to visit. The cruz itself was incredible and such a fun time. Annie was so friendly and welcoming. Group of 10+ friends and I went on the Brew Cruz for the love of beer. Annie is an amazing and knowledgable host who has A LOT of patience (especially since our group got quite drunk and rowdy). Bless this woman for dealing with drunks as her job hahaha. She is extremely welcoming and easy to talk to. Her bus is something straight out of Pinterest! It's super cute and comfy for our large group. THE DEETS: For the price of $70 per person, you get your own PERSONAL beer tour guide and chauffeur (the lovely Annie), 3 brewery visits (spend about ~1hr ish at each place), and either a flight of beers or a pint at each brewery. Annie allows beer/liquids and snacks on the bus. I recommend bringing lots of snacks and water to combat hangovers! P.S. Bring some cash to tip Annie! She deserves it! Annie picks you up from wherever you want in Santa Cruz. She then drives you to each brewery. Before each visit, she gives a bit of history on the brewery, details about all the beers and her recommendations. She accompanies you in the brewery and then she cleans after you!! What a doll! My favorite brewery we visited was Beer Thirty. It's an outdoor brewery with plenty of seating and fun games to play. I highly recommend adding this one of your list of weather permits. SO MUCH FREAKING FUN! We just did the West Side Cruz on Sunday 11/4/18. I surprised my boyfriend with this for our five year anniversary, he loves his beer lol. I felt like this was such a fun way to explore breweries and also allows you to meet other people. Everyone on our tour was super cool and we had a great time. Our driver Chris was really cool and being a local, he was super informing on the area and the places we were going. Shanty Shack and Humble Sea were probably my favorites on the tour, although Humble Sea was pretty crowded. On the way back to the hotel we took the West Cliff drive and it was beautiful. Originally we were supposed to do a spa day for our anniversary but are SO happy that we decided to take a ride on the slowboy instead. Our family from Maine was in the area for a wedding and short summer vacation. Hoping to create a surprise and unique memory for my wife and teenagers, I was fortunate enough to be referred to Annie. Always a believer in the "it can't hurt to ask," approach, I inquired via email if Annie might be able to accommodate our family and take us on a couple hour tour of the area in Slow Boy. Sure enough, she solicited the help of her husband, Adam, to take us out and about on the morning we were to leave California. To the surprise and delight of my family, Adam rolled into the hotel parking lot right on time. He was personable from the get go- greeting us with a smile, walking us around and telling us about the vw bus. Slow Boy's two tone paint scheme (original green I think) is beautiful, and the recent reupholestry of the seats and wood laminate floor provided a comfortable, and vintage feel. Adam invited us to sit where we wanted (of course I was happy to ride shotgun to start), turned on a great play list, and headed out. Our first stop was at a little coffee spot, where we fueled with some dark roast, an iced coffee, and a hot chocolate for the son. Adam, described some of the places he intended to take us, but always encouraged us to let him know if there was something specific we wanted to see. We traveled for two hours, taking in sights, and learning about the area's history. When the moments struck us, Adam would pull over and we'd get out for a closer view and/or photo opportunities. Throughout the ride, folks in cars and on foot would smile and stare as we passed by. In two hours we saw more than we knew existed or that we would have discovered on our own. We appreciated the chill and personable approach of Adam. He talked to our senior daughter about her college interests, and was able to relate to her in their shared soccer experiences. Adam, also provided us some recommendations for shopping, burgers, tacos, and more sites that we might catch on way back to SFO. He was kind enough to write them down on a beverage coaster, and we referred back to them several times that day. We had spent some time in San Francisco and Carmel, and traveled the Highway 1 south to the Big Sur area. These two hours, however, proved to be the highlight of our vacation. read more
