Great experience! I met a friend for a beer...okay 3 beers. We were greeted at the door by a very friendly server/hostess and offered the many seating options. This is a fairly large bar and restaurant with indoor, outdoor, and even event space. It's very deceiving from their modest front door entrance. We chose to sit at a high top table upstairs. Colton was our server. He greeted us at the top of the stairs and welcomed us in. We ordered local IPA beers on tap from a decent selection of beers. We also ordered their Fiesty Tots to share. Crispy tots with pico, grilled jalapeno slices, and bourbon bacon bits. Very tasty! Without prompting, Colton brought us a sample of their potato soup. It tasted amazing. So much so, my buddy and I each ordered a pint to take with us. Super nice touch. This was my first experience at Bruno's. The outstanding friendly greeting and service (to say nothing of my limited experience with the very tasty food) will bring me back to Bruno's. Stopped by Bruno's Bar & Grill for my birthday all the way from Burlingame on our way to Monterey. We had a great experience. Would have been perfect if the patio was open. It was closed due to a private party upstairs. The food took some time to serve, but it taste really good. Love my full back ribs and Jalapeño Cheddar Cheese rings! Was not able to take pics because we were hungry lol. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome without being overbearing. We had a fantastic lunch at Bruno's Bar & Grill. Our furry kids were welcome on the lovely rooftop deck and they were promptly greeted by the staff and given a large water bowl. Madison (our server) was super attentive and on top of everything. I had a gorgeous Ahi Tuna Salad with a sesame ginger dressing. The tuna was very fresh, and came with spring mix, peppers, avocado, tomatoes and carrots and topped with wonton crisps. Delicious!!! My husband ordered the Bruno's burger and he ordered it with a side salad instead of the normal fries. The burger was huge, and our dog kept eyeing it - he was so jealous! The best kind of neighborhood bar! Bruno's is such a happy and lively place with so much community. I especially recommend their trivia night on Tuesdays for a fun and happy time. From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming and accommodating. We asked if we could sit upstairs near the band, and they immediately made it happen for us. That alone set the tone for the night -- no hesitation, just great service. Sitting upstairs by the live band made the whole experience even better. The energy was fun, lively, and perfect for a Valentine's celebration with friends. We were able to enjoy the music, laugh, and really soak in the atmosphere. I stopped in with a friend to check out this spot for the first time and we had a wonderful time. First, I love the fact that this spot is multiple experiences in one. Downstairs, there's a family style American restaurant and a bar with its own separate entrance. Upstairs there's a cute little enclosed bar called the Vault (small, lounge style) and a larger sports bar with some games and lots of TVs. We ate downstairs at the restaurant. Our waiter, Elias, was welcoming, friendly and patient with us as we asked questions and engaging in appropriate and friendly conversation. The entire menu looked great and we went with a Notorious BLT burger with fries, and the Vally Dip prime rib au jus sandwich on gluten free bread with garlic fries. The fries were cooked to perfection. My only feedback would be to toss the garlic fries (we just had garlic clumps on top of the fries). The burger and steak sandwich were delicious! The burger tasted flame-broiled in a wonderful (and nostalgic way). The burger was very filling! The prime rib sando was also very tasty. I enjoyed their gluten free bun (it was soft). I did feel like the ratio of prime rib to bread was off and there could have been more meat (I would order double meat if I went back). The horseradish cream was not overly spicy. In terms of the seating and ambiance overall well done with minor suggestions - the booth backs felt like they were at a sharp 90° angle which was slightly awkward, and were thin enough so that everytime the person behind moved their back against their seat I could feel it on my back (kinda like airplane seats). Love the tree in the middle, and the aesthetics overall! I would suggested turning off the lamps that are hanging around the tree for two reasons: 1) dimmer lighting (but not too dark) and 2) the light bulbs bounce off the inside of the metal lampshade into the peripheral eyesight and can be a bit annoying. All in all I would continue coming back to Bruno's to try more items on the menu - I'd love to try their meat plates and their wings! read more

This was my first time ever going to the particular restaurant and I knew about Eric's deli being in the same plaza, but I had no idea how long/how big this plaza was and how it wrapped around towards the back. Which is exactly where the particular restaurant is!! It was a pleasant surprise to have a holiday party here, and I rather enjoy the food and entertainment! Not to mention the double wide staircase and the old-fashioned attire/environment of this saloon style bar! It had that old country western style yet still modern! The upstairs bar was very warm and cozy and I really liked their seasonal drink. What a fun place this is! Not what I expected when I got to the front door. The downstairs is a formal dining hall with a bar. The second floor is where the party is. My friend has told me about the drag shows they have so I decided why not give it a go? It was a birthday edition show and was very lively and fun. They had candy on the tables and cupcakes as little treats. The bar had great music and vibes to it and the girl bartending was hustling! The only thing that was kind of a bummer was how early the kitchen closes with an event that goes late. Eventually, a kind waitress noticed us and immediately stepped in to help she was great once she took over. Food wise, it was a bit underwhelming. The burgers were very plain with no condiments, and the pesto chicken lacked much flavor even after adding mayonnaise. The food was not great. The biggest surprise was the bill. A 20% gratuity was automatically added for our group of four, (large group service fee) which we found unusual since that's typically reserved for larger parties. This is a local business so I am more like to go here than a chain but their style isn't my speed and the food did not wow me. We went on Sunday in the summer and sat upstairs. The waiter was overwhelmed and service was slow. He disappeared a lot so I think maybe he was juggling another section or downstairs. I got the steak sandwich and wished I didn't. It was soggy on the bun and the steak was pretty tough. Next time I'll try the burger. We got the artichoke hearts and onion rings for the table and they were okay. It's all typical bar food. A DJ was setting up for over an hour and played some reggae music. Overall it was an okay experience but I won't be craving this place or seeking it out. read more

We have recently come to love the Bruno's rooftop. Great vibes, food and ambience. Tonight was a much different experience. We came in as a larger party but mentioned we were absolutely willing to be flexible to sit in the patio and split into multiple tables. There were many open tables, but she mentioned they were reserved. We asked if we could be placed on a waitlist and the host refused to do so. It was honestly very strange. I felt like our presence was an annoyance. Much of our party was confused as we all were excited to go there. The bar was empty but very hot so we wanted to sit outside where it was half full. We were very willing to wait but no solutions were offered. There was no live music either. It was 5:30pm on a Sunday. It felt very odd, and left a bad taste in our mouth. Cute little bar and grill with decent food. Visited Santa Cruz for a little Mother's Day getaway and we decided to stop here. We came during dinner and got here around 5:30 pm on a Friday. Had a giant faux tree with light up leaves in the center of dining area that set off a cute aesthetics -Ample seating areas available -Margarita portion was pretty big -Decent pricing for the area -Pear salad was good. Not the best I've had, but it was a good portion with generous amount of candied almonds, cranberries & blue cheese Cons: -Dining area was pretty warm. Not sure if they didn't turn on AC or the heat from the open kitchen warmed the room.
