Solid but spendy restaurant. My wife got very good mussels - not quite as good as Spinola, but still good - and I got a spicy seafood stew. Location is almost too good, right off the Burg, heavy tourist traffic. Crowd was a mix of locals - who almost all got mussels - and tourists. We had no reservation on a Sunday night and we kind of conned our way into a table for two without waiting, but I'd recommend reserving.

Food was great, everything was very good and tasted fresh. The service was Ok, we went on a busy time which I think didn't help with the service level as they were under stress. The waiting time for the food was short.

The second best restaurant we ate at on our European trip and it filled my desire for mussels and frites! I found Breydel-De Coninc on Yelp and interesting enough it was one of the two restaurants that the owner of our hotel recommended for us to eat at. We made a reservation which is critical for dinner time if you want a high end or popular restaurant in Brugge or Brussels. The restaurant is very close to the main square so it is easy to find being centrally located. I ordered the mussels Provincial with frites and my wife had the garlic and butter mussels. The flavor and freshness of the mussels were outstanding in each of the large orders. Some of the best (both of our orders) I have ever had. They came with complimentary breads that were great to soak up the respective sauces. We finished with Meringue and ice cream with raspberry coulis. This was quite good, but I am not sure I liked the hardened meringue as it was tough to cut with a spoon. Food 4.5 Excellent Mussels that are prepared at least six ways. Service 4 Knowledgeable and attentive! Atmosphere 4 Pleasant surroundings Price 4.5 The food is very good, though not inexpensive. The value is there with the quantity and quality. You won't go away hungry if you have mussels! OA 4.5 A great choice for seafood if you are in Brugge.

The moules frites for one can be intimidating, but it's really good

Don't skip this place because it's a very touristy place. The food and ingredients are top notch. We asked our innkeeper where she would recommend getting the best moules frites in town. She said that although this place is very touristy, they had great ingredients and made good food. The owners were also people she thought highly of. She was right on all accounts. You just can't come to Bruges without having moule frites. It's tempting to eat them on the patio of a cafe on the plaza, but you'll be doing yourself a disservice if you do. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. I've had the moules frites enough that I wanted to venture out a little. I had a creamy broth with fish and shellfish. It was really good. You don't wan this to be your only meal in town, because it does not show the character of some of the smaller places away from the tourist throngs, but it should make your short list for seafood.

Two locals recommended this place when I wanted to eat moules & frites Definitely the best moules & fritte l have ever had! We had the garlic butter and the cream and wine. Outstanding did both. Their mayonnaise are all homemade. The garlic sauce was outstanding. And so was the cream with white. Located in the heart of the square but a little off near the Belgian waffle store. The atmosphere is wonderful and both food and service were very good. It gives me an idea of old Belgian food.

Okay, this place is REALLY expensive, but their mussels were so good! I can't say that they're WORTH it, but I really enjoyed my experience here. The servers are a little bitchy like people have said ("Can we have more fries, please?" "These fries are enough for everyone"). If we're paying that much, I'd expect great service... or a little more fries at a table for 5! But the mussels really made up for it. My favorite was the fried mussels in garlic butter sauce. You don't get the cool individual pot, but it tasted the best. The Aphrodisiaque and white whine are also really good. And their fries are really fresh! I'm really craving their mussels & fries now that I'm back in the states...

After asking around to some of the locals about where to try great mussels, they all suggested one spot and this was it. Hesitant at first as we always seem to find bad mussels back in the U.S. we were pleasantly surprised! We asked the waitress which type to get and she told us that the mussels with cream and white wine sauce are their specialty, so we tried those. THEY WERE AWESOME! We ate the huge pot (which is big enough for 2) and decided to order another flavor. We then tried the spicy ones. They were also good, but not quite as good as the cream sauce. My only small complaint is that some of the mussels were a bit gritty, but I would recommend this place to anyone traveling in the area and if we visit again we will be sure to go back here!

Came here for mussels, which were really good. Ordered the ones cooked in Zot. They are expensive, I think over 30€, but the portion size was huge. They also came with fries with some tasty dipping sauces and a basket of bread. Service was slower than I would have liked, but that's only because I'm used to the fast pace of restaurants in the states.

Delicious!!!! The Mussels and the Lobster!!!! Nice place!!! I will recommend this place if you happen to be in this beautiful small town!!! The ambiance and decoration makes it even more attractive to the passing tourists looking for a good place to eat mussels and fries!!! My husbands Lobster was a little on the expensive side but as he said well worth the price!!!

Our host suggested this place for the famous Brugge mussels. Overall experience was okay in terms of food. Service was really good and server suggested very good wine that would go well with our food. I had ordered a vegetarian dish with white asparagus that was okay and husband ordered mussels in white wine. Some Mussels were a bit sandy but the sauce was very tasty. I tried mussels for the first time and really like it. except for the sandy part the food was okay so giving 3 stars for the experience.

Great moules and frites. Convenient location. Got in without a reservation. Staff was extremely friendly. Highly recommend.

It is all about the mussels!
