I'm slightly embarrassed to say that yes, I have had McDonald's in Switzerland and also happy to…read moresay that it's far superior to any McDonald's I've been to in the USA. When you order your meal, you also give them a number and you will get fast table service; a server will find you and bring the tray to your table. This is such a great location because like most cities in Switzerland, Lausanne closes up really early (especially Sundays!) so this is one of the last resorts for late night eats as it closes just before 2:00 AM in weekends. They have a lot of things that aren't available on McDonald's menus in the US and the food tends to be really fresh. They also make great french fries. It is right in front of main Lausanne train station, which is a bit dicey at night, but I don't think it's dangerous at all. Just walk straight ahead and don't listen to anyone if they ask you silly questions. There are two floors here and the top floor has a nice view with windows looking out onto the beautiful art deco train station across the street. You can order everything on the digital screens and you can also use the McDonald's Swiss/European phone app to order on your phone, although if you have a US phone and are roaming it may not let you download it. The most delicious thing I've ever had here was the "Raclette Burger" which had real melted Swiss Raclette cheese and a brioche bun; it was absolutely outstanding, but they don't offer that very often. It was just for a few months. The current double "M Burger" is amazing but has over 1000 calories. So definitely check the specials when you're ordering.

I don't know about the other stuff here, but whenever I've ordered the "Cappuccino + Croissant"…read morebreakfast special from the "McCafe," it's always been good! The croissant is nicely flakey and buttery (made with real butter!), and is served warm with a very tasty cappuccino. It's not a mind-blowing breakfast, but for 4.70CHF, it's a tasty and inexpensive option if you don't have time to peruse through a bunch of reviews to find the best cafe in town. Service was friendly and quick. The location is very convenient - right across from the Lausanne train station. The hours are friendly toward travelers - 5:30am to 1am (other locations in Lausanne have more standard hours). I haven't tried lunch/dinner items at a European McDonalds in a while, so would be curious to see what the quality is like. But for now, I'd say breakfast is solid!

O.M.G. Brezel König,…read moreduring my recent stay in Bern, I got addicted to your pretzels. Being from NY, I LOVE a good salty street pretzel but these - oh, baby! I recommend the Raclette, which combines two of my favorite things - cheese and carbs. The bread products in Switzerland are off the hook. They have many options but my favorites were the cheese one, the pumpkin seed one (I can't remember or pronounce "pumpkin seed" in German) and the sesam one. No, that's not a typo, in Switzerland there's no "e" at the end of "sesame". They also have ones with salami and sandwiches as well, which we didn't try. The pretzels will cost you between 3.50-4.50 Swiss Francs (around $4.50 USD). Grab your brezel, say, "Merci veil mal!" and enjoy the delicious goodness.

Yelp Review 2026 #139:…read more Brezelkonig is in every major city train station in Switzerland. But the one in Bern has got to be the best location I've been to. Catching a super early morning train means having to grab something that will hold me over until I get breakfast at my next destination. This location is open by 5am and they already have all sorts of options. I've been to a Brezelkonig location that's open early but they only have 3 things ready! I like their jalapeño pretzel, and their croissant with chocolate. It's quite filling. The jalapeño pretzel has some sort of bacon/ ham and the jalapeños were pretty spicy . They have a machine that makes fresh bagels.
