So I'm an ignorant American who talks too loud and eats too much. However, I know what a good burger is. Holy Cow is not a good burger. This chain claims to use grass-fed Switzerland beef, yet for some reason, my burger tasted more like a hotdog? Like what's the cut of meat? Not from the Swiss cows that I know! Also, there was clearly BBQ sauce on the burger, even though I got a regular cheeseburger. You do not put BBQ sauce on a burger unless you have a specific BBQ Burger on the menu. Did we not consult anyone from the BBQ nation that is the United States of America? Third, why could I not get just a regular Coke with no sugar? Why did I have to get the Holy Cow brand soda? Picture this: You're an overweight American who has been traversing all day through an uphill city in the hot summer sun. The only thing you want is a cool, crisp Diet Coke to tickle your throat and quench your thirst. Instead, you get a kitschy restaurant-brand knockoff that tastes like a Diet Coke's cousin who smells like mothballs and has a staring problem. I was looking for a place to invite my friend for dinner, and as a burger addict, I had spotted this place during my visit. Once again, you have to know that for a foreign visitor, Switzerland will seem really expensive. At Holy Cow, you can have a burger + fries + a drink for 20CHF. Trust me, it's a good deal when you know that a kebab + Coke is 12CHF ! Good point : the recipes are very original, even as a burger aficionado, I've never seen some of this recipe ! I had one with salsa and avocado, while my friend chose the special Montreux Burger with Gorgonzola. The burger is huge and the meat is juicy : perfect ! The fries are also very good, and you have to try the different syrup/drinks from the "self service" drinks station. Fleur de Sureau is amazing and not too sweet. Cool place for kids and adults. Reminded me of the typical upscale/themed American Burger joint. We just arrived in Lausanne and the kids were starving (according to my 9 year old). We typically don't eat fast food because we live in Paris and try to eat healthy however, Holy Cow was a great indulgence for all of us. There are strange and pleasant favors of drinks for the kids and a large variety of bottled teas and other drinks. Service: 4/5 - The cashier was nice and very helpful and spoke to the boys to help them order. She also did not mind my Franglais as we switched back and forth from English to French. There were not extremely busy and had maybe 10 people eating at the time and no one in line. The order was brought to our seat with a smile. Atmosphere: 4/5 - Reminded me of a scaled down Fudruckers with a Holy Cow theme. There were large tables for group seating so small and large groups should have room. There is also a bar at the window if you are eating alone and a couple 4 person tables. Appearance: 4/5 - The restaurant and the bathrooms were clean. Overall a cool burger and fries place that I would recommend. The food was fresh and home made (not frozen patties). Decent price and much less expensive than the meals at our hotel. read more

Came here not expecting too much, but the burgers are much better than they look and the frites are super crispy and delicious. While the burgers look dry, they are actually super moist and well seasoned. We tried the Big Smokey Cheese and the chicken burger with bacon and avocado. The chicken burger was amazingly not dry at all and the basil mayo was tasty. Burgers are around 15 francs, and you can add frites and a non alcoholic drink for 19 all in. Amazing burgers (my favourite is the Elvis Blue Cheese), very good fries, and even artisanal beer. It won't set you off a lot more than McDonald's, and it's a million times better. Definitely great bang for your buck, amongst the best quality/price rapports in Lausanne. Communal tables (so not a place to linger), boisterous atmosphere, and ridiculously fast service make this the ultimate quality fast food spot. read more

Wow, from the meat, blend of flavors, roll and fries, this was truly outstanding! I ordered the montreux jack and blue. I had to eat 1-3 of my fries, then started eating it with a fork and knife to be able to pick it up! Hilariously large burger! The fries are not skinny fries but rather meaty and done perfectly with a tad of a crunch when you first bite into it...anotherwards, not at all soggy! I highly recommend eating here. It's a chain it's a chain! Not the best to be honest. I had the vegetarian burger avec chèvre, which has a sweet chutney sauce on it. The burger patty itself is pretty tasteless, and the bun (which is the same for everyone) is dry and also tasteless. There was just a huge disc of goat cheese, too much. A little bit of arugula to round it out. I wouldn't recommend this place as a vegetarian or any other kind of eater. On top of the disappointment in the food, the prices are unreasonable. Over $14 CHF for just a burger with a dry, almost indigestible bun. Do yourself a favor and don't eat here! read more

It's a fast food restaurant and it's using only local products. So the products such as potatoes, meat, vegetables, bread, salad etc. are fresh and the food is homemade. We enjoyed vegetarian burgers with delicious French fries. There are drinks to enjoy too, like ice tea, fizzy drinks and so on. The service is friendly. But there is a space problem there. It's always crowded and people are sitting so close to each others that you can hear someone's eating noise and it's noisy. And not to forget to mention people who are moving behind your back and touching you all the time because it's really narrow there. And there are other guests who are waiting for a free place. So, it's better to take the food and to go away to a public park. The price is the average and the food quality is good. read more

Great place for burgers! We had the cambembert and cranberry burger and also the montreux jazz burger, which were both very delicious. I like how they use diffrent flavours like the camembert. Staff is very friendly and they have the best iced tea I ever had. I would definitly come back! read more
