Earlier this year, I said a little prayer for my buddy who was getting married. I told him I could plan an escape to Canada if he just gives me the OK. He told me not necessary. He also told me his bride to be had picked out a wedding photographer. That was a news to me considering I know most of the local wedding photographers in Long Beach. He then told me about this group of women photographers that will be their photogs. Automatically, I was very skeptical. Wedding photography is a male-dominated industry for a reason. One, for a take charge types, man tends to be more assertive in terms of getting the type of shots they wanted. For a physical role, it's not easy to mount all these equipments and carry them from one location setup to the next location. If a family wants a pre-wedding photo at a beach, then wants to go a park for a post wedding photos. Three locations in one hour, it can really take a toll. Then comes the emotional abuse where criticisms sometimes mounts on the photographer by the parents of the bride & groom. Worst off, the biggest whiner can be the bride herself. You not only have to do the job, but you also have to put up a lot of stress, energy, and a lot of unwanted criticisms from people telling you on how to do your job. I know it only because I worked in two weddings, a prom, and a graduation as an assistant to the main photographer. I have seen a lot of breakdowns. It's not just women that can be seen crying at the end of the exhausting day...men too. So you can guess I'm more cynical than ever about the choice of having not one, but three female photographers for a wedding. To my amazement, the reason this company got chosen as the wedding photographer was that their photos was featured in a wedding magazine my friend's future wife have seen and instantly she felt in love with the photos. Then to my horror, I found out that they charged a lot more than some of the more reliable and reputable wedding photographers in the same area. Needless to say I am getting anxious about the whole thing. I bought those concerns to my buddy. Guess what?......he has no say on about this. Apparently, it's HER wedding. LOL True to form, on the day of the wedding, some of my concerns were subdued. Also they were positives on having female photographers over male photographers. For one thing, they get more access to the bride. Hate to even admit it, the photos on the bride are more important than on the groom (hahahaha, guys, you'll find that out real soon). The other advantage was that they are a little bit more subtle on the way on how they carry things without being abrasive or aggressive. Instead of being the paparazzi, they are more in the backgrounds taking photos without interrupting the guests or taking photos on every click. The main photographer that day was Andrea. I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to her since I was the Best Man in the wedding. I got a big sense that she was much better at reassuring the parents and having things under control. Even if she didn't, she would never let it be known to the wedding crowd. Probably I would be the only one that would know since I would make the same mistakes when I was working as a photographer. The wedding itself was a beautiful event. Right afterward, the photographers gave a little preview or review of the photos that would be on the album. They shown a little slide show teaser on the portable laptop. Wedding guest can see the slide show of chosen photos on the monitor. It's a smart move only because it gets the guest excited and wanting to order the photos down the road. If you scratched the comments about what I thought and my biased eyes on the quality of the photos, it would be totally up to the one important customer...the Bride. The lovely bride love the photos and the caring attentions to the details. She appreciated the communications about the concerns or questions she might have. My pal and his new wife have interviewed a few potential photographers, but she felt more comfortable with Red Loft after they presented details about on how they will approached taking pictures for the wedding and what packages will be included. So far they have kept their words on all the arrangements of photos and the preview of the photos. Believe me, there are horror stories you want to avoid about certain wedding photographers. It was a satisfaction that made both the bride and groom happy about the memories that they will cherish for the rest of their lives. That was the only thing that matters the most at the end. I definitely would recommend any couple of looking over their work and considered them for taking photos of your precious moment in your life. For once, Lawyers wins out the punchline to that joke.

I was married last November and found Red Loft Studios through a random Google image search. From that moment on, I was pining over them. Honestly, it was more than I wanted to spend on photography, but it's the most fresh, classy, and fun photography I've seen. As they put it it's "not your mother's wedding photography." I had to have them! Andrea was our photographer. From the moment I met Andrea I knew I was hiring her. She "got" me completely. She is fun, enthusiastic, smart, and so creative. She is someone I would be friends with. When we took our engagement photos she made us feel relaxed and we laughed all day with her. On our wedding day, she was able to get all of the shots we wanted without being intrusive or making anyone uncomfortable. They were able to generate a preview of some of the photos during out wedding and the guests were raving. Once we got all of the proofs we were ecstatic! They listened to what we wanted and incorporated their skills and taste. What we loved most was Wally was with the groom before the wedding and Christina was with the bride. They took amazing shots of us before the wedding, during, and after. Additionally, our wedding venue didn't feed them on time (if at all) and they still put us first. They didn't miss a moment. If we wanted a shot of a group of people together, I could find one of them instantly. They were the first ones there and literally the last people to leave. We never had issues communicating with the before, during and after the wedding. If we had a question regarding our album and/or prints, they were VERY responsive over text, email, and phone. We're saddened to write this review - we had hired Jessica for our engagement photos and for our…read morewedding, and it was a very negative experience unfortunately. While her website and Instagram is beautiful, and she is lovely in the first initial call - once we signed the contract and paid the deposit, her customer service drastically changed unfortunately. First, when it came to finding a time for our engagement photos, we had to chase for avails, and when she did finally respond, we had to work around her inflexible schedule. She includes 'styling and location assistance' in her contract, but when I asked her for suggestions, she barely had any input. We felt like an afterthought to her. Then comes the actual photos, we received the gallery on the last possible day before it would've been a breach of contract, and we were truly shocked at the results. Please find the attached photos - they're washed out, the skies are oddly grey (I've attached photos of the real colorful sunset that day), and the coloring doesn't seem to be in line with her portfolio at all. We gently reached out asking if she had any solutions to bring back the colors to the sky and she responded defensively with no willingness to address our concerns. We would have been okay with any kind of editing ideas but instead, she cited "skin tone" as the reason why we didn't have accurate true-to-color skies. For context, I'm a woman of color. I work in TV, and accurate white balance rendering was extremely important to us. We then realized that her portfolio on her website is very selective - there are many galleries that she doesn't publically share. We then connected with another previous client of hers who shared the same greivances about her customer service and professionalism. The other bride (also a person of color) said Jessica was "very uncooperative" on the wedding day and that there was drama with the other vendors. The other bride also mentioned she didn't get all the photos she asked for. Furthermore, our contract included 'minor retouching' but she didn't seem to have retouched anything at all - she didn't edit any blemishes (a small skin spot) or tan lines. When we asked if she could soften the tan lines, she said I would have to pay her "photoshop expert" $30/photo to get the tanlines retouched. I work with editing houses for work, and when I asked them, they were surprised and asked what would be considered "minor retouching" in her eyes. We also later learned from a few other planners in the industry who had bad experiences with her - they said she was unresponsive and uncommunicative. Our own planner at the time, in her experience of over ten years, said she never experienced such defensive, cold, and unprofessional customer service from a wedding vendor before. Usually editing or offering a reshoot is one of the many ways to resolve the problem. Please take a look at her emails, her language, her tone, and her work attached - they speak for themselves. If you're a couple looking for a wedding photographer, I'd be wary of dealing with this much unnecessary stress. We lost $6,000 in our 50% deposit to Jessica as she refused to find any solutions or provide any kind of partial refund despite the clear issues she created. We were very willing to work on a solution with her, whether it was some sort of editing answer or a partial refund, as I truly didn't want to write a negative review, especially for a small artist business. But when I advised her that I may be leaving a review, she threatened us with "legal action" (please see the email screenshot) - which is very strange and actually impossible, as the Consumer Review Fairness Act states that it is illegal to penalize or threaten customers when they post an honest review. She also immediately blocked us on Instagram pettily, when our emails to her have always been civil. We are now reluctantly pursuing the necessary legal action as she sent us a cease-and-desist letter for writing a review (which is the kind of customer service she provides). I am not happy with my pictures to be honest...for the amount of time it took for us to get our pictures, I would think there would be photoshop/ editing of imperfections,people,background stuff etc. and there was none. We reached out to Jose a couple months after our wedding to check in, and see when we would receive our pics & video, and we kept getting the run around. I understand life happens, but I would also see him booking other photoshoots and just wondered when we would receive our pictures . We never got a sneak peak of our pictures either. We reached out a couple more times and as mentioned we would get push back/told to wait so we would, thinking he would come through. It wasn't until my husband messaged him telling him to reimburse us because it was taking too long, it took for us to send that message & Jose all of a sudden had our pictures ready. When I went through the pictures I was so disappointed. I felt like editing was rushed and noticed many things you think he'd edit out or fix. I think only the lighting on some pictures was adjusted because we asked for our money back, he just sent the pictures how they were or did a few lighting adjustments. Some pictures are darker than others. They took so long and I expected perfection thinking that because they took long he was really working on them smh. It's been 2 years since I've been married and just to put it out there I don't have any of my wedding pictures printed or hanging on my walls. And 2 years after I am still bothered over my pictures. I didn't even want to post or share my pictures on social media because it was a whole year after my wedding that I got them. We ended up booking a photographer out in Greece for our 1yr anniversary because I wanted a redo for my wedding pictures & although I am not in my wedding dress those are the ones I love & have up. So sadly, I haven't and won't recommend Jose to friends & family.

For our newborn session, Ashley lets you use her maternity wardrobe if you'd like. We chose the posed newborn session with a few family poses. She spent a few hours posing our newborn. Found Hau on a Facebook group where he was advertising to work with people's budget to offer build…read morehis profile. So I reached out and Hau scheduled a video call to meet with us to explain his passion in filming and that he would like to bring that style to his wedding videos as well. At that time we were just looking for a videographer that is within our budget so we were not being picky at all and we did not talk to any other videographers. As the wedding date approached, Hau suggested all of us should hang out and he can also get some footage of our everyday interaction and maybe use that in the final video. What a great idea! Hau took us to pho and it was one of the most delicious pho restaurant we have been. (Pho Thin in Westminster). Hau asked what we usually do as a couple and we said shop at Costco LOL so we went shopping at Costco and he got his footages. It was a great time hanging out and also to meet Hau before the actual wedding day so no one feels awkward. On the actual wedding day, Hau brought his assistance and also a drone pilot as we requested. Everything went so smoothly and Hau was great at being on the side, working with our photographers and also actively cueing us as needed. And I appreciate that Hau actually looked like he was having fun at our wedding despite carrying heavy equipment and working a 10 hour day. The mood of the people surrounding you matters that day because no one wants to see sad/angry faces when they look back. We got our video about 3 months later and we were very happy with how it turned out. 10 mins of highlights from the wedding day in a film style that is high quality and thoughtfully edited. I even added a extra request for the raw footage of our first dance because my cousin was singing live for us. Hau delivered and even edited the dance video so the quality remains high. We are overall very happy that we met Hau and we still have to try more Viet food with him!
