I've officially been a student at Brian Cutlers' Acting Studio for 8 months and can fully and honestly share my thoughts and overview on my experience. Look. This acting thing is tough (and rough)... Especially if you're new to the industry and starting out as a newbie. So much to figure out - classes, getting representation - the who and the hows, how to market yourself - the what and the where... and then what happens when you get an audition, or callback?! I've learned so much from Brian and the team at BCAS. Brian has had a long and successful acting career. He's figured it out and is passing on his wisdom. Lucky us - the BCAS team lays it all out there. I remember visiting (auditing) different acting schools as I tried to find THE ONE. BCAS was the third studio I visited. Being someone who has major social anxiety, it took a lot for me to put myself out there - but when I walked in, I immediately felt as if I found my acting home, my "family". Brian, John, and Jill knew each student by name. They even knew who I was when I walked in on Day 1. I was impressed. Observing the format of the class, how Brian led and shared raw notes throughout the session, his humor and/but also seriousness with his art, how the group was focused, supportive and positive, and the professional equipment and recording set up, I signed up for my first cycle that evening. I was done auditing any other class/schools. I'm still at the beginning stage of my career in acting, but I know with the Brian's guidance, the different courses/services that the studio offers (accelerated program, assistance on eligibility to become Sag-E, etc.,) my career will move forward. No doubt. As a note: BCAS won't do the work for you. They'll be there as a tool and resource for you to succeed. But YOU have to put in the work. So there's that. Get to work. I can't say enough good things about Brian Cutler Actors Studio. If you're new to acting, OR if you've had a ton of theatre training and want to transition to film acting, OR if you just want a place to learn and continue to hone your skills in front of the camera, this studio is it. Brian has a no-nonsense, practical approach to acting. His goal is to get you out of your head and in the moment. There's a huge focus on being able to cold read authentically and connecting with your scene partner in the moment. Not many studios in LA will film you every single class, but because he keeps the classes relatively small, you're able to work every class. Not only that, but the studio sends you your HD footage pretty immediately afterward, allowing you to watch yourself on camera and even use some footage to build your reel (if you'd like). It's a very small studio space, but there's a beautiful sense of family among everyone there. It's not cult-y, like a lot of other acting studios. There is a challenge with MOST acting communities in Los Angeles and it's this: how do you both offer training and education for actors that are at the beginning of their careers AND the seasoned professionals that are looking to level up their skills (and by extension, their careers). Brian and his team have the answer and it is surprisingly simple. They've fostered an environment where everyone can work... on camera and at a level that they will be expected to perform on set. (Actually, the way the class is structured, you will be expected to preform a couple levels above the "one-line" day playing roles that will first come your way.) I cannot say enough good things about this class. Price-wise, you'll find that it's on the slightly more expensive side, but it's an all-inclusive school. By this, I mean... you won't be nickel and dimed for "add ons." In addition to class, there are workshops discussing agents and managers and also tracks devoted to those interested in learning how to join SAG-AFTRA. If you are ready to get work as an actor in film and television, then this studio is where you need to be. Bryan is aimed straight at getting his students in front of the camera as paid professionals. From day one we spend every class training in front of a camera, (a good one), doing cold readings and short scenes, just like you have to do to get the jobs. That alone is pretty much unheard of among any of the other acting studios I've ever looked into. Maybe other schools shoot the occasional scene - but at the Bryan Cutler Actors Studio you get onscreen scene work EVERY TIME you go to class. But wait, there's more! This is a gem of a studio here in Los Angeles. I am learning about the TV/Film industry for Los Angeles and internationally. Brian certainly does know about the business in and out! I feel so lucky to have found this studio in my Google search. This studio consists of many actors and studio staff that are 100% supportive! They never judge anyone on their abilities and skills because we are constantly learning everyday. This is the main part of this studio that I love!!! I started attending this studio in October 2024 and I am still going full force with them until today February 14, 2025. And Thursday at 7 pm. Plus there are the occasional Monday evening pop us classes including a Voice Over class and an ABCs of auditioning class. This is the acting class you are looking for! This is the kind of acting class I wish I had found when I first moved to LA. Brian and Jill are great teachers. The class is not nearly as expensive as other acting classes, and you get all your footage emailed to you for free. Brian is demanding, but not demeaning. He only asks you to do 3 things (take the class, he'll tell you what they are). Brian, Jill, Kaigh, and Jon are all fonts of information. I've been to many acting school, some of which taught the Stella Adler method, which I'm not too fond of and another that was more about clowning around than getting the work done. Brian Cutler is a fantastic acting coach! This studio actually tapes classes and you can watch your scene-work or commercial(s) on playback. I even have a clip from class in my demo reel! I've sat in on a few other studios in the area and haven't found anything like it. They focus on drama so if that's what you want to work on, this is the place to go.
