I love this studio. I've taken the 1-day commercial workshop with Annie and the Advanced Intensive with Diane, and both have been incredible! The training and acting methods, the teachers, and the students all challenged me to grow as an actor in a safe and supportive environment. I highly recommend both Annie and Diane and their classes. Commercial Workshop with Annie: Even though the workshop is one day, Annie fills the day with such great advice and on-your-feet work. She gives great general audition tips and specific feedback to each person to help you grow. She helps to demystify the types of commercial auditions so you can focus less on "did I do it right" and more on having fun with the audition (which is why we do it!). Advanced Intensive with Diane: Diane is a gem. In a month, she was able to pull out such emotional depth in my performances. She is kind and nurturing in a way that is constructive without being judgmental or mean. You can tell Diane is a teacher for all the right reasons and really believes in all her students. Every student gets different notes and redirects, which also exposes the entire class to so many different tools to use when auditioning or preparing a scene at home. The students in the class also brought such a warmth and generosity to the class, which I think speaks volumes to the types of students that the studio attracts. After this class, I have a clear method for preparing for an audition and feel more confident in myself as an actor! read more

Highly recommend taking Intermediate with Will!! I have been in Will's ongoing class for a little over 6 months, and I have seen so much growth. Before his class, it would take me an hour or 2 (yikes!!) to record a self-tape. After studying with Will, I can do it in a take or 2. Because in Will's class you only get one or 2 takes, this trains you to make bold choices from the jump. Will has truly helped me to live the life of the character in a truthful and honest way. I looked at my self-tapes from before I started versus now, and it's day and night. I also have a much easier time just being and trusting because I've lived the life of the character, and I know that the emotional core will show up. I love the material he chooses every week. It's always a scene I would never pick for myself that truly challenges me. Being in his class and going up every week has given me such confidence, conquering roles I would have never thought I could. The takes are all recorded, I get to watch my work and see where I'm growing with my own eyes! I know sometimes actors have trouble taking in compliments, but it's another thing to see your work. I've not enjoyed my experience. I felt very much like the teacher type cast the class and we were given the same roles each class. I did not feel heard when I brought this up, rather was told it's the actors job to create for all characters not just the ones we like. Which I cannot argue with. My problem is I ended up reading virtually the same character types, with the same archetype and oftentimes reading with the same class mate. I walked away with little to no knowledge growth and little to no experience that can aid me in my path forward. read more

I've been taking classes at the Margie Haber Studio for about 5 months now and I can't say enough positive things about my experience. I'm new to the acting/entertainment world and the growth I've felt and seen in myself since starting classes here has been radical. I finished the Intermediate Intensive last month and I'm currently in the Intermediate Ongoings - Will Gressman was/is my coach for both and I can't say enough good things about my time with Will. Through Will's exercises in the Intensive I was able to break through and tap into some emotions that I wasn't sure I could even reach anymore (I'm emotional right now thinking about it lol). Having a level of trust and comfort with someone is really important for me when getting vulnerable and Will really created that safe environment. Yes he's got the years of acting/coaching experience, book knowledge galore, and can quote Shakespeare at the drop of a dime - but the most important thing I've experienced is that he TRULY cares about his students. He takes the time to make sure his feedback is landing with you and it's always individualized for YOU. He really wants you to grow like just in life in general. And there's sooo much to learn listening to his feedback for everyone else too! I feel like I'm growing as a person with Will and not just an actor and I'm so grateful for that. Also, I started with Jack Perry in the Foundation Intensive and then continued on with Jack's ongoing for a few months. I was TERRIFIED and you could see it ALL on camera lol. Jack was the absolute BEST introduction to acting I could've asked for. She is a truly extraordinary teacher as well as being an exquisite human being. I recently completed the 2 week ISP training and had one of the most transformative experiences of my acting career here. This review is definitely an essay for those wanting to know all the deets. I'll admit I wasn't expecting too much at first but I am always eager to learn different approaches to improve my craft, so I signed up. I was amazed from day 1 and can easily say this was by far the best money I've ever invested into my career. I get many questions from my peers about how it was at Margie's and I can't recommend it enough. That's the short version and you can go sign up now! Now, for the review sleuths: To begin with, the structure of the 2-week program was extremely thoughtful and comprehensive, from the benefits of being able to work with a different instructor each day and receive feedback from a fresh perspective, to meetings with other working actors, a commercial acting expert, a casting director and including a manager Q&A, even an organized dinner with your peers and an improv show at Groundlings for a fun night out. All of the instructors were excellent and there is something to take away from each one (or at the least, study and appreciate their own human behaviors and individuality ). The program jumps right in and there's not a single day wasted, so it's a positive guarantee that you'll walk out with a plethora of knowledge and tools to apply to the craft, so much so that I think it'd be wise to definitely be prepared to take plenty of notes for later review as it will help further digest the information and keep it fresh. It's hard to limit the review to the well-orchestrated logistics because there really is so much personal growth that occurs as well when working on this art form, and that's the priceless component to the training here. For me, the biggest takeaways included my ability to not just "love" the craft but to also learn how have FUN with it. I had to take on adult responsibilities since childhood growing up in an immigrant family in Detroit, I graduated with my masters by the age of 22, moved across the country and started my own business. Only a couple of years ago did I decide to finally give my inner child a chance to pursue her dreams. What I didn't realize was that the constant adulting and management of responsibilities had sent the "playful child" inside of me into a deep slumber and to have that part of me reawakened here felt beautiful. I felt freed, re-energized, exhilarated to keep experiencing life while embracing my whole self. I took the class during a tough transition in my life and it was cathartic. I had a blast and everyone applies Margie's philosophy here, ultimately creating one of the safest and most supportive spaces I have ever seen to embrace your individuality in totality and grow alongside others. A few small details that made a huge impact included the freedom to not have to sit upright in a chair and be able to use the bathroom whenever, or have snacks as needed. Here, you were encouraged to do whatever you needed to do to take care of yourself unapologetically. My needs are frequent and at times, strange. To be able to learn without neglecting those needs was liberating, unlike most traditional learning environments. Something I couldn't help but appreciate as well was the well-maintained facility. I've been to many acting studios but have not yet been to one where there was a constant supply of water, coffee and a pleasant tea selection to choose from. I don't know why most acting studios don't offer this because 1) students are still paying customers and of course customer service can impact the entire atmosphere of a business and everyone involved with it and 2) our bodies are our instruments so doing our best to take care just makes simple sense. Perhaps it's because Margie is a mom. The thoughtful touches of air fresheners and feminine hygiene supplies in the restroom are just so kind. You'll feel the love here. I have high respect for Margie not only for the fresh approach she is revolutionizing the craft with, but also for her authenticity. I can't imagine the vision she had when she started this but she's evolved it into something incredibly valuable and makes the continued effort towards further improvements. In general, she's an ageless inspiration as a human being. I would start listing off my fave instructors here but then it's just gonna get tooooooo long, and they know who they are - or else I'll be back to make sure they know it. But I'd like to additionally thank Hamish and Sarah. While our interactions were brief, the warmth from each of them also made this experience possible for me when I could've potentially just...disappeared. Anyways, I look forward to being back here not just for the learning but because I trust the people I've met here, I love everyone's transparency, quirks and kindness. Just finished taking a month of Advanced Acting classes with Jim Nieb and absolutely loved it. I haven't been in class since before the pandemic and was nervous about going back to an environment of competition and "preening." But this class was the exact opposite of that. On the first day Jim told us to embrace mistakes, to remove good/bad from our vocabulary and to take chances. He was welcoming , open and created an environment for us to thrive and learn. Plus he was very funny which helped break the tension at the start of the process. By the end of the four weeks we were like a family, cheering each other on, pushing each other, and most of all learning! From an acting perspective I really liked the Margie Haber method because although I've studied acting for decades in various places this was the first time I've heard a scene be called "a slice of life". What an incredible term for what we do as actors. I also liked the reinforcement of relationships as the foundation for every "slice of life" that we build and the use of improv to "practice" cultivation of imagination. I pre-paid $450 for a foundation class. (I also bought Margie's book, as they suggested.) The day before class started, I had to go to the ER with fluid in my lungs, a bizarre reaction to a virus, and was diagnosed with a type of asthma that's pretty awful. I called the Studio from the ER explaining the emergency, and the treatment, which means I can't take this foundation class. I asked for a refund or even a partial refund. And they have refused. They say they require two weeks notice so they could fill my class seat with someone else, it's "policy." Medical emergency meant nothing. They have kept all the money and will only offer a credit for the future, which they call a "compromise." I am stunned by this experience with the Margie Haber Studio and heartsick about the money gone. read more
