Brian has forfeited his fees to me and has been trying to execute a settlement that started in 2016 and involved me having all access removed from my two young sons. Looking at the volume of negative experiences, I'm seeing that I'm far from alone in being victimized by Brian. They negociated a minimal settlement in my favor for our bay ridge home from my spouse who has slowly lost her ability to deal with life without her addictions. I knew she has ZERO intention of complying with the settlement agreement even as we were signing it. I told both B and G of the situation and my ex's history. They yes'd me to death and then left me hanging for over a year. i only found out they had abandoned my case over a year later. They just stopped taking my calls. Did not have a positive experience. I had to wait 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment for The lawyer to finish his conference call. When he did come in I found him to not be very professional. I spent a great deal of time on the phone when making the appointment giving back ground on my case as they asked, but that was not used for the appointment as he had no background knowledge. The entire 5-10 minutes of the 'consultation' was him telling me pointless info on what he thought I should do since I didn't have enough in assets to make taking this case worth it for them. I say pointless, because the advice wouldn't have applied to my case, if he cared enough to listen. If I had all the money in the world, I would not be spending a penny at this place. I'm just sorry I spent the time and energy going into the office, to do something that could have been handled on the phone. read more

My first piece of advice is if you can avoid hiring attorney, please do it. Do your best to not be controlled by your emotions and to settle your case without the need of an attorney. The court system is inefficient & unjust. That being said, if you find yourself in the unfortunate circumstance of needing to hire an attorney the absolute best you can find are Brian Perskin and his team, especially Evan Seckular. Throughout my case, I was managed & handled by them in a way I first fought against, (because I thought I knew everything) but in the end I came to realize the advice they were giving me was in my long term best interest. With Brian Perskin you don't a single attorney working on your case, you get a true team that works together to achieve your ultimate goal. The advantage in having a team like them can not be understated. If you hire a sole practitioner, they will undoubtably be too over worked to give your case the attention it deserves. Some of the time I hated what they had to tell me. Eventually I had to learn to accept that they are the experts here. You don't storm into the cockpit and tell a pilot how to fly a plane. Don't argue with your attorney about his strategy for your case. It might be hard to believe given the slew of shoddy attorneys our there, but Brian & Evan will bust their collective asses to see your interests are looked out for during the entirety of your case. It might not be in the timeframe or manner you expect it to be, but they 100% without a doubt know what they are doing and you need to accept that (personally that was my most difficult struggle.) I hope you can learn from my mistakes and listen to their advice without unnecessary struggle. By the time the dust settled and the final order was signed, they were right. Looking back on my case, they managed me and my case every step of the way and at the end of my case, I received more than I was willing to settle for when the case started. Going through a divorce is no fun. Period. Whether you are the plaintiff or the defendant. When I first met Brian and his associates, I met with Dina first, I felt at ease, she explained everything to me and didn't care about the million and half questions I asked her over and over again. Brian is very personable, approachable and has a good relationship with the court as well as a strong professional network with other attorneys. He has many years of experience and has seen all sorts of tactics that nothing really surprises him anymore. He is sensible but also a passionate advocate when you are dealing with a case like mine, one that ended up being a bit more difficult then I realized. Evan Sekular is very thorough. Brian is a straight shooter who is able to quickly sift through information to hone in on what each particular judge will focus. Got to an outcome I was relatively happy with, which is all you can ask for. They know Manhattan judges well which helps them settle cases quickly. Easy to work with, return calls quickly, good communicators. Court system in NY is very complex, non-intuitive, tried at first to go pro-se which did not go well. read more

Was happy to hear that it would only cost me $5,000 for a full divorce, but the services have been very lacking as of late - particularly returning phone calls for updates. It's been years for a pretty amicable and agreeable divorce, and I find myself calling weekly for an update that never comes. Emails go unanswered. Phone calls go unreturned. I've exhibited patience, have never lost my temper or gotten angry...but my current gf isn't so understanding. My life is being held up, and my attorney doesn't seem to care. They were really very nice and accommodating at first - checking in every couple of weeks / months or so. At this point, I haven't heard from them in about 3 months, and that was after another long break of 5 months...with me having to reach out to them for an update. I retained Dina Botwinick at Brian D Perskin & Associates, P.C. in 2018, after she was recommended to me by my son's then court appointed attorney (who I later find out is her friend). My son is autistic and we were abused by my ex-partner, who is wealthy and resourceful. I was vulnerable and desperately needed help in a child support and visitation case. Dina appeared to be compassionate and seemed to care about our trauma history and my son's substantial medical needs. The retainer for the law firm is $3000, and lower than other law firms. Little did I know that the retainer would be gone in 1 month, then they offered me a payment plan of $500/month, as my legal fee grew exponentially every month. In 2 years, I would owe almost $200k in legal fees, without obtaining any child support for my son. Even though I retained only Dina, I noticed billing charges from 3 partners at the firm, for meetings and interactions with the opposing counsel, that was never discussed with me. On 4/9/19, Brian Perskins, who was not at all involved in my case, billed me $1125 twice in the same day for "a meeting" that I was completely unaware of. I was also billed hours each month, for my attorney to "study case law" on various aspects of Family Law. I sent email after email to the firm, requesting that they stop billing me for "meetings and work" with opposing counsel, that had not been discussed with me, and about all the fraudulent charges. When the pandemic hit NYC last year, and when most New Yorkers stayed home, I had to pick up more and more shifts at work as a frontline healthcare worker, in order to pay Brian Perskin's law firm. I risked my life and my family's lives in order to pay Brian Perskin's law firm. I found out this week that Brian Perskin is suing me in Brooklyn Supreme Court for $134k for their fraudulent legal fees! This is extortion and they are criminals. I have lost everything, and have to file for bankruptcy because of Brian Perskin's law firm. I cannot imagine this happening to another person and another family, so don't let them destroy your life, like they did with ours. read more

I first met with Brian Perskin in a free consultation to get a better understanding of what might be a reasonable settlement if my wife and I entered into mediation. He was the second attorney I consulted, and the first who seemed both competent and trustworthy. Ours was a seemingly simple case, but Brian took the time to walk me through the range of possible outcomes and patiently answered all of my many questions. He encouraged me to try to reach an agreement with my wife without retaining attorneys, even though ran contrary to his own financial interests. When it became clear that my wife had no intention of using mediation, I retained Brian's firm and my case was assigned to Dina Botwinick, his senior associate. What we expected to be a straightforward case and a quick settlement turned into a three-year endurance event, as my wife's attorney did everything possible to delay any movement. By the end, the case had been assigned to three different judges and one referee, and formally adjourned five times, with hearings cancelled or delayed on several other occasions. I had suffered a serious health crisis that, for a time, left me unemployed and insolvent, and Dina had prepared time and again for court appearances that were sabotaged by opposing council on a few hours' notice. My wife's attorney consistently refused to even discuss a settlement until every possible delay had been exhausted and we appeared for trial. It is very unfortunate that my very first experience on Yelp has to be leaving a review for Brian Perskin. I hired Brian to represent me in a "not-so-easy" custody and financial case. I can say he was quite negligent to the financial issues that were presented to him, and more so omitted a humongous issue which would've settled my case rather quickly. I had to nag for him to send out subpoenaes to Banks, and of course, I was billed for it. Although Brian does have good people working for him, he himself, as a founder of the firm and a seasoned attorney with 30 years of experience cares very little for the future of his clients, at the very least, it was the case with me. I am still in the middle of the divorce and 2.5 years after parting ways with Brian Perskin, I realize that there was zero expertise and effort from him invested into my case. More so, I can go on and on with the issues he has created for me and discomfort he has caused for me and my two children. Shortly put, if you know that there were assets dissipated by your spouse in anticipation of divorce, this is not an attorney who will believe you or make an effort to settle the case in your favor. We were recently represented by Perskin Law, specifically Evan Seckular, for a child custody case in Brooklyn. It was an extremely difficult case as the mother used every stall tactic possible (she went through three lawyers!) and she absolutely refused to be the slightest bit reasonable when it came to negotiations. The highest compliment I can pay to Evan was how extremely well he handled the frustrating situations the opposition created, all the while protecting us and not allowing our primary principles to be compromised.
