She took my concerns and what I had researched on my own into consideration and agreed with the diagnostic; I've had nerves tested and MRIs but she was the first test hotspots for pain for Fibro. She listened, that's the most important thing to me, that she listened and asked what I wanted from this visit. The blood work was another wait but the phlebotomist was excellent, no pain save some discomfort for the amount of blood having to get done but she was fast and efficient. Honestly, I'm really happy here so far. Yes the waits are long but like I said, I'd rather a long wait and get a doctor who takes time to listen than one that just rushes through everyone.

The…read moreproblem is the new doctor (Julia Hoffer) is not in my network (Blue Cross), or any network as far as I can tell, so if I see her, I will get stuck with the entire $250-$300 bill for the visit. And you can bet your life that the Boyle Heights Clinic is going to aggressively pursue collection of that bill. So I need to find another primary care doctor. Which means I need to have my medical records sent to the new doctor. Which means calling the front desk. Which means that they will not answer the phone, and they will not return any message you leave. And if you call the only line that answers, you get through to the Glendale call center, but they cannot do anything with your records, which are at Boyle Heights, and Boyle Heights does not answer the phone, does not return phone calls, does not do anything that remotely passes for patient service. One star for this clinic is too high. It should be Negative One Billion Stars. If you go to the Boyle Heights Clinic, you are risking your health and your finances. Stay away, Stay far away. You have been warned.

They take the matter into their own hands and let the sun shine on each child along with their family members/loved ones. Children's Hospital in LA is the first and largest pediatric hospital in Southern California. One of my friend's 10 year old son has been in this hospital for the past week and I wanted to go see him. I went there today and even took few balloons along with teddy bear to cheer him up. He was diagnosed with a serious illness that she doesn't want to disclose. So, I respect my friend's confidentiality and will not be discussing her son's condition. When I got there today, the nurse was checking his temperature along with the other vitals. It wasn't a pretty scene to see this little boy suffering. Then a minute later, they brought him some food for him to eat. He was having trouble eating. His mom and the nurse helped him sit up to have leverage so he can eat. As I was getting ready to leave, the doctor came in and the rest I will find out once..hopefully soon, he will be discharged from this lovely, wonderful hospital. They accept all method of payments.. Everyone in the hospital was very nice, helpful, caring, reliable, and understanding. They have a gift shop, cafeteria, healing room, prayer center,& a HUGE parking lot. Dr. Levy is honestly the doctor you see when nothing else has worked. I had these chronic calf…read morepains for over 10 years. It was to the point where I felt like my calves were bursting and couldn't really wear pants. I saw a neurologist, vein, cardiologist, and even went to physical therapist and did every exam under the moon and no one could figure my pain out. I got the point where I threw so much money at doing all sorts of exams, I really had nothing to lose by visiting a chiropractor to help manage my pain. BEST DECISION EVER. After a session with Dr Levy, the pain started to subside. After a few sessions, the pain was subsiding in longer time increments. Now, I have general relief. No more calf pain after long-haul flights, and I don't have the kind of activity restrictions I used to anymore. I can go on long-haul flights knowing my calves won't kill me and can sit for longer periods of time without worrying about my legs swelling up. Dr Levy does more than just back adjustments. All of my doctors are with UCLA so my doctors who are all specialists tell me to go to the ER, I go. Unfortunately, the doctors at the UCLA ER are terrible! Not only do you have to wait up to 20 or more hours to be even seen but every single time I have gone in, no matter how sick I was, I was gas lit, for instance, coming in letting them know that I have a paralyzed, intestinal tract, and have not been able to eat or drink for several days and the doctor right off the bat asking me if I'm sure it's not the stomach flu! I tell him my specialist sent me to the hospital! Finally another doctor comes back and sees me and says that he just called my specialist and said he'll get me in sooner to my motility specialist. What they ended up doing was screwing up everything they canceled the appointment that I already had scheduled with the motility doctor that I needed to see and did not keep me for what I should've been kept for which was my heart, my thyroid and my stomach. My doctors were all blown away! My thyroid levels were critical, and yet they did nothing. My heart was on full pace, and the doctor and nurse that originally saw me immediately put me on a cardiac monitor and ordered fluids and morphine because of my heart, and two hours later a nurse comes in and said that she had just given me my morphine, and my arm did not itch, so none of that got in my arm. She did not flush the line and then just attached the bag hanging with the fluids that I was supposed to get and then shut off my call button. Not that I was asking for anything except for who was my doctor and what was going on... Either way I have been to UCLA ER on four different occasions now where they just discharged me without even doing a proper assessment, they were busy they had the main lobby turned into a makeshift waiting room with makeshift urgent care beds. It was a disaster. This time I'm going in direct admit so I pray that things will go a lot better. That last time where I didn't even get the fluids that were ordered when I was having a heart problem is something that I could really take to a lawyer if I wanted to. Unfortunately, when you have chronic illness, you don't come in freaking out every time you're sick because you're just so used to it, so you're good at faking well. I don't come in making a fuss or anything like that unless I'm really critical and then it's not like there's any question they take me right to the trauma Bay but unless I'm life and death critically ill to where they cannot deny it without running lab they will just toss you to the street. Had they ran my labs they would've seen I was having serious problems. Had they spoken to the specialist that referred me there they would've kept me instead I don't know who they talk to because I am on palliative care I have to have permission from my doctors and nurses before I go to the ER and generally they'll tell me to call 911, but where I live I can't do that because they'll take me to the nearest hospital, which generally cannot handle my condition. I have multiple organ failure and a lot of major problems but I guess I don't look sick enough for them or act sick enough for them. It's kind of hard to do when you used to being sick all the time.

For an institution with UCLA's reputation and resources, this is simply not good enough. If this is representative of the training and preparedness coming out of UCLA's health communications programs, it raises serious concerns about how well students are being prepared for real patient interaction. Patients are not case studies -- they are people who deserve respect, clarity, and competence. I would strongly urge anyone considering this facility to push hard for transparency and to document every interaction, because based on our experience, you cannot assume basic communication standards will be met. The women here are highly unprofessional and have disappointed me severely in their lack of ability to "care." They also had holes in their walls and the equipment in poor condition. His broad scope of expertise, humanity, tact, and sense of humor have made a lasting positive impact on my life. Like most of his other patients, I can say without hesitation that I consider him and Peggy to be a part of my extended family. I will never forget receiving an unprompted call from Dr. H late in the evening many years ago after they learned of a sudden health crisis that my parent suffered. Thankfully, my parent's crisis eventually resolved; but that brief check-in from Dr. H touched me deeply. I knew that I was not alone and that he genuinely cared. Unheard of in modern medicine, when you call their office after-hours and connect with the emergency line, the phone rings at Dr. H's house. They trust their patients not to abuse that access; but the small number of times that my family needed it, Peggy and Dr. H were on the other end of the line, providing useful information and reassurance, even at 4AM. My experience as a patient of Dr. H's played no small role in my own journey towards becoming a physician. I often find myself trying to recall one of his totally unique and pithy one-liner jokes when I need to break the ice with a new patient. Family practices like this one are virtually impossible to find these days. The world would be a much better place if everyone had a medical team like Dr. Horowitz and Peggy.

With covid and how things are run differently now, communication is KEY! Peggy sent me all the health forms that needed to be completed in a timely manner via email. She was wonderful at responding to my emails, and she made things so easy! They went out of their way to see me in person in a really short notice as my visit required necessary clearance for my nursing program. They only have certain days for appointments but she made an exception for me as my work schedule conflicted with their in-person office visits. Peggy also sent me my labs on a Saturday as I requested if she could send it to me as soon as they receive it.. they are closed on Saturdays and she did that for me (I am so grateful!). I also want to say that I drove from Monterey Park to Dr. Horowitz's office on a Friday during the time that there is so much traffic (traffic alone in this area if you already know is hideous) but I would do it again!
