It was either that or wait 3 months to be seen at a clinic closer to home - I love UCLA Health but those appointments book ouuuuut. BUT- I received great care at UCLA DTLA. I interacted with security, reception, nurse team, x-ray tech, and of course, the doctor. Everyone was so pleasant and everything was very efficient. Bonus, the facility was very clean and modern. My appointment was with Dr Xie - was he worth the drive? Heck yes! He was so thorough and took so much time going through all my concerns. I have been dealing with some issues for so many years and it seems I may finally be close to answers. I am looking forward to our follow up and hopefully be able to move through life with less pain. Parking was filled with the normal downtown stress - don't miss the turn in lol. Go all the way up to park on 5 and don't forget your ticket. They validate and my fee ended up being $3. Take the elevator to P and follow the signs to UCLA Health. It was an exhausting morning but I'm grateful to receive quality care - and that my follow up appointments can be virtual ;)

Dr. Levy is honestly the doctor you see when nothing else has worked. I had these chronic calf…read morepains for over 10 years. It was to the point where I felt like my calves were bursting and couldn't really wear pants. I saw a neurologist, vein, cardiologist, and even went to physical therapist and did every exam under the moon and no one could figure my pain out. I got the point where I threw so much money at doing all sorts of exams, I really had nothing to lose by visiting a chiropractor to help manage my pain. BEST DECISION EVER. After a session with Dr Levy, the pain started to subside. After a few sessions, the pain was subsiding in longer time increments. Now, I have general relief. No more calf pain after long-haul flights, and I don't have the kind of activity restrictions I used to anymore. I can go on long-haul flights knowing my calves won't kill me and can sit for longer periods of time without worrying about my legs swelling up. Dr Levy does more than just back adjustments. She uses east Asian medicine to provide a holistic treatment (she uses gua sha/lymphatic drainage techniques specifically on me) and really works with your insurance to make sure you are taken care of. She also recommended really high quality supplements and magnesium creams and honestly, they have been helping me maintain my calf inflammation in between sessions. Highly recommend Dr. Levy. Who knew a chiropractor would be able to fix my calf pain?

I was so happy to come back to LA and get to reunite my kids with Dr. Nakashima. One thing I love about him is that he is thorough and will try to figure out the cause of something even if it's resolved (something I find many of my own doctors don't do). Years ago I had to take one of my boys to the CHLA ER and when I told the triage nurse we saw Dr. Nakashima, she said that he's one of the best diagnosticians she knows. He's also patient, funny and truly cares about my boys. I never found anyone in our years away that came close to him.

AVOID Dr. Nakashima. There are many excellent pediatricians out there--don't settle for someone who…read moredoesn't respect your concerns. When the COVID vaccine first became available, my husband and I chose to hold off for our child at that time. I'm a healthcare worker and I personally received the vaccine due to my job, but our child stayed home, didn't attend daycare, and had very limited exposure. We were comfortable proceeding with every other vaccine Dr. Nakashima recommended--this was not an "anti-vaccine" decision. We simply wanted more information and time. When I respectfully shared that we did not want the COVID vaccine for our child at that visit, Dr. Nakashima made us feel like irresponsible parents. What bothered me most was that the nurse came in to administer vaccines and was about to give the COVID vaccine--something I had already declined. Thankfully, I asked what she was giving before she administered anything. The nurse seemed surprised and said she wasn't told I refused it. After she informed Dr. Nakashima, he doubled down and implied we were making the wrong decision. FYI, my son is now 5 years old and goes to daycare, he seldom gets sick and never had covid meanwhile me the one with all the covid vaccines got very sick with covid twice already. On top of that, there were multiple occasions where he dismissed my concerns and spoke condescendingly. One example: I brought up that my child was wheezing. As an ICU nurse I'm familiar with what wheezing sounds like, yet he brushed it off until I insisted he listen--at which point it was confirmed. We left the practice three years ago and found pediatricians who are respectful, communicate clearly, and take parent concerns seriously. I wish we had switched sooner.
