Definitely try the coffee too- they said it was from Costa Rica and it was so good and I don't usually drink coffee so I was shocked I liked it so much. I wish I had discovered it sooner, as the food was quite good and I have wanted to try arepas for a while (they've become popular on the East Coast of the US, but they're hard to find in Los Angeles). The actual menu shifts somewhat from day to day, depending on what items are available. Lyna tries to serve only what is fresh. There are typically three or four main items on the menu actually available out of a somewhat larger assortment listed on the menu. The owner deals with this by having a menu with a number of clear plastic slipcovers in it like a small binder. There is a neatly printed overview menu on one page up front with the drinks list on the back of it, and then photographs with handwritten titles of the day's available items are in individual clear plastic pages following, so that she can swap them out on a daily basis. I have heard that opening hours can be a little inconsistent, so it may be best to call ahead and confirm if you're going with the group or going far out of your way to the restaurant. The arepas were delicious: deliciously cooked shredded beef and/or chicken, avocado, cheese, and vegetables, all stuffed into a chewy, crunchy split pastry made of cornmeal (polenta, harina de maiz), a bit like a pita but much chewier and very satisfying. there are two sauces to go with it, I read somewhat spicy sauce and a green sauce flavored herbs and a bit of garlic. Plaintain chips and fried bananas were also quite good. Desserts vary. Sometimes there is a flan. We had small, sweet cornmeal pastries stuffed with cheese and sweet corn. Beer is good, from Únětický pivovar.

Arepas De Lyna - Don't let the looks fool you. This soup smells and tastes delicious. I could eat a whole bowl of this. Free with the lunch special.

Yes, it is located approximately 20 minutes from Prague downtown, in Hrncire district, Prague 4, but they offer a nice spacy parking lot, so no worries ... It is the experience worth the travel! You will enter and you will be immediately embraced by wonderful smells and a very cozy Latin American atmosphere. And there is a big open grill at the end of the ground floor room, with a chef who checks every steak and tenderize it with his strong fist. Yes, it is a bit of a show for tourists, but nevertheless, we liked it. The question mark might be a fountain in the middle of the ground floor room, yes, it is a bit of a kitsch, so please follow my recommendation and don't look at it when you are there Very good tapas: Chorizo crepinet at 95 Kc, a nicely spiced "jitrnice". Steaks are delicious, I could tell you. Close to U.S. quality, hahaha! 1) Ojo de Bife Aberdeen Angus Argentina (Rib Eye/CZ: Hovezi vysoky rostenec) 250g at 395 Kc, THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR LUNCH, 2) Vacio Black Angus (Flank Steak/CZ: Hovezi pupek) 200g at 285 Kc. 3) Cerdo Iberico Con Jeres Pedro Jimenez (Grilled Pork Chop with Chestnut Puree And Pedro Jimenes's Wine Sauce) at 475 Kc. Salsa houbova and Salsa jalapenos at 45 Kc, nice fresh salads. Red meat could be nicely paired with a red wine by glass "Viu Manent Estate Collection Reserva 2011, Calchagua Valley, Chile, Carmenere" at 109 Kc. Suitable for parties and celebrations. One birthday party was just happening there during the time of our visit, on the first floor. Summary in CZ language: Super novy steakhouse na kraji Prahy, v Hrncirich. Otevreny gril, opravdu skvele maso, utulny interier, vhodne i na velke oslavy.

During our brief time there, learned that they are of Guatemalan heritage. The menu was an eclectic mix of Latin and Spanish foods. My son and I ordered the Plato Chapin, which included three tacos and two empanadas, along with a few chips. My wife settled on just the tacos. In a rare moment, we all agreed the food was excellent. Of the two empanadas, I enjoyed the beef better than the cheese. Very happy that we found this place and would recommend it to anyone that yearns for a really good meal with really nice people.

The chicken and beef taquitos are great and the combination of Spanish tapas and Latin American dishes offer a lovely variety of dishes. In the end, we let the owner know that 16 years ago, they were kind to me and that they have been so appreciated since. They were not surprised to hear about all of the microaggressions and bigotry I dealt with in Prague in 2006-2007, but assured me that as it's become more cosmopolitan, much of that archaic thinking is changing. I hope so, but if you're ever in need of warm welcomes and good food, El Centro is your place.
