My dining companion and I agreed that this was one of the best meals we have had anywhere. Food was amazing. Service was good. Ambience was perfect. We started with house salads. My dining partner had the gnocchi, which I believe was on special that night. I had the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin with Parmesan mashed potatoes, green beans, and a herb mustard demi-glacé. Aimee and I came here for dinner after climbing the high point in ND (White Butte); looking for a steak as we had seen cattle for hours and hours during the drive from Denver. The ambiance was mixed; coming in, there is a cozy bar area on the right; and upstairs there is another dining area (closed when we were there so we didn't see it). The main dining room was open, and the lights were up, so not the spot for a cozy dinner. That said, we had a great dinner. Started with Bloody Mary's, which were good. A bread basket was provided; the bread was good, but the spread that came with us didn't float my boat. We had the mussels and clams starter in a saffron broth; this was delicious, light, great saffron flavor, mussles and clams cooked perfectly. The bread was useful here to mop up all the sauce! For an entree we shared the 14oz ribeye. This did not dissappoint; tender, flavorful, and big enough for two. We ended with the lemon dessert; this was amazing, so light and flavorful. I picked the Brickhouse Grille because of the high ratings and moderately good reviews. Since I travel alone, it's easier for me to sit in the bar area. I did that here and have never been more stressed during a meal. The bartender announced to me as I sat down that she would get to me when she could because she was backed up with drink orders. That was the least of her stresses and everything went down from there. The pictured ribeye steak was to be my treat for the night so I splurged for the added Gorgonzola topping. Seems the cheese is mixed with a very heavy blend of panko bread crumbs then added to the steak. It neither looked like nor tasted like Gorgonzola and I had to scrape it off the steak. The pictured Crème Bruelle, was supposed to come with "Jack Fruit" but was served with buttered popcorn atop. I don't care for popcorn so that was a huge disappointment as well. Could it have been a bad night for everyone, sure but I expect that meals are not randomly reconfigured as they are ordered because of some issue in the back of the house. The steak was ok, but the potato dish I was served (kind of like stringy au gratin potatoes, but they called it something different) was cold and not so great. The grilled asparagus (difficult to mess up) was decent. I sat at the bar. It took about ten minutes for the bartender to acknowledge me despite having only one other customer. She then argued with one of the servers over being forced to "dress up" (she wasn't close to being dressed up) and a few f-bombs were dropped about something I couldn't hear. There are very few dining options in Dickinson, so we had to give Brickhouse a try quickly after we moved to town. We happened to go on Christmas Eve, so the restaurant wasn't busy, but the service was excellent. Unfortunately, they were no longer serving alcohol that evening so we were unable to try anything off of the wine list. The steaks were seasoned well, but the food was inconsistent. Some steaks were slightly tough and lacking in flavor, while other steaks served that evening were spot on and delicious. 4 stars for the ambiance, food presentation, and great service, but 3.5 stars for food that evening. read more

They brought it out with one clamp and 1 fork. This was almost certainly something prepackaged and frozen. Lacking any sauce. For entree, husband had 2 appetizers: seared ahi and bacon-wrapped prawns. Bacon flavor completely overwhelmed any prawn flavor, and the ahi was coated with cumin, which detracted from the flavor of the fish. I ordered roast chicken. Was picturing a succulent entree with crispy skin. Instead it was a breast on the dry side covered with a salty sauce. This is the area's only true fine dining option and a place very near and dear to me. To say this house of brick is perfect would be a lie but I can assure you that both sides of the house are doing their best to deliver that. Perfection. From steaks to cocktails. That was the ideal set forth by the original owners, and it lives on in the core staff that composed the Brickhouse Grille and the current chef de cuisine. The prices are appropriate and modest for a fine dining house. The portion sizes are polite and classy atop of well flavoured. There's other options in this town for a wallop of potato slop and an oversized steak of questionable origin for less money. Please don't insult yourself by whining at a $50 chef's whim. That's actually cheap in the realm of fine dining. The cocktails will send you to Christ if you pound them. The martinis are cheap for how much booze and thought goes into them. The wine selection is vast and the liquor selection rivals it. It's the place you get yourself cleaned up after work for to dine at and the only spot worthy of going on a first date. And if you're wanting to relax with friends in a quiet atmosphere devoid of the regional bar scene, the B2 is the place to be. There's nothing else like the Brickhouse in this area and I advice anyone to give them a chance next time the long overdue date night comes about or simply to diversify your flavour spectrum. read more

We had a gift card and decided to use it for our anniversary. We were early for our reservation so we headed up to the lounge. The lounge was empty but we were met by a friendly bartender named Sonja. She was awesome! We aren't from Dickinson and got to chatting with her about Vegas - her hometown and Portland, Oregon - my hometown. We mentioned to her it was our anniversary. As we headed downstairs for our reservation, we met our nice sever Bella. The food was great, my husband had the ribeye and I had baked ravioli. Sonja mentioned to our sever it was our anniversary and they customized our dessert! We definitely will be back and look forward to stopping in to see Sonja again! read more

My wife and I each had the 10 oz New York steak with au gratin potatoes. The steak was perfectly cooked and delicious. The potatoes were okay, but do you really want to eat them out of a tin dish? The service? Youthful, brisk & breezy, completely lacking in personality or personal attention. I was so disappointed in this restaurant! It was recommended by a travel blogger we are following while on a road trip, but my meal was downright bad. I ordered the baked flounder, but it was not edible. The flounder was completely mushy--unlike any flounder I've had before. When I mentioned this to our waitress, she said that that was the way this flounder is because it's steamed. I pointed out that the menu says the dish is baked. She just shrugged and said, "Maybe it's steamed and then baked?" This is not the treatment I expected at this type of restaurant. The server should have asked me if I would like something else, or she should have offered to take the meal off of our ticket since it was completely inedible. Was visiting Dickinson from Houston for a project and this place came up on my searches. It earned four stars from me. I had the ribeye and au gratin potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The potatoes were really good. Service was perfect with no complaints. The only suggestions I can make is the steak was a bit pricey and in Texas, most steak houses do a 14oz for much less. Yes, this isn't Texas, but I did not see a cattle shortage in the beautiful fields. Also, I would say make the potatoe portion a bit larger and offer a second side instead of the weak veggies. I guess I have already tasted almost all of the restaurants' steaks nationwide, but Brickhouse's ribeye steak has all the unique flavor. The best of all, the most delicious steaks I have ever tasted in all of my life. Not only their steak dish but so with the other dishes that we had that night. It's not salty! That is why the menu prices are justified because they are so delicious! We had our business trip from California to ND, so it's worth going back to this restaurant. Just had to add another review. Mike and his team are just great. I stopped by, without notice, at 5 on a Thursday and asked Mike if he could help me out with my anniversary the next day. I needed reservations, and wanted to drop off gifts and have champagne ready. Mike said of course, and when I showed up the next day, he had everything taken care of. I had the lamb, and it was amazing. Hubby had his favorite, the ribeye. I stole a bite and it was awesome. Of course, we started our meal with chizlet and cheese, a can't miss. Came in from a long drive and, since the visitors website talks about it, I figured I had to go. Great service from right off the bat. Wes was my server/bartender in the upstairs lounge and he was thorough and attentive and upbeat. Ordered a sirloin. It was delightful, as was the loaded baked potato. It was, I realized,my first complete non-sandwich dinner in like three days. Glad it was here. Price? Expensive but got away cheaper than I expected. You should be ready for an expensive dinner (entrees are $30+ on average). Drinks are not unreasonable - $7 for my Moscow mule. These are the prices I expect coming from a big city. The one star comes off for two reasons: 1) the salad was just greens, a slice of tomato, and generic dressing. 2) the taste of the steak made up for the chewiness of the meat, but it was still chewy. This is a hidden gem in Dickinson. Here on business, and not many dinner choices to be found other than Applebee's or the 'famous' (fantastic!) steaks at the Elks Lodge..... we chose this because of the seafood and chicken choices on the menu. There's alot of beef in these parts, so this seemed a welcome change. The chocolate creme brulee didn't hurt, either. My business associate and I both had the pan roasted chicken breast with couscous. Excellent! Nice atmosphere, more upscale, art on the walls.
