I had an incredible experience with Tae at Bridal Designs & More. I had a very unique timeline for my wedding dress alterations because of COVID. I was also moving from KC to Tennessee three weeks after my first fitting with Tae, and was aiming to get the alterations done before I moved. However, Tae worked with me and completed all of my alterations (hem [cutting off train], take-in back) in my timeframe, and I am so happy with how the dress turned out. My initial fitting was very pleasant and it's clear Tae is extremely knowledgeable. However, my details from that initial meeting were lost and after that Tae would not work with me, even though she was in the shop. The initial alteration fit so terribly I was almost in tears but the worst part was they were trying to pass it off as acceptable. Eventually things got fixed but it was really upsetting and took a lot of extra appointments. It also ended up costing several hundred more than the original quote. I hate writing this because I'm so impressed with Tae's talent and attention to detail but I don't feel like I got fair costumer service, and it was far and away the most stressful part of wedding planning. read more

Bridal Designs & More worked wonders with my dress. I bought my dress several months before the wedding from Davids Bridal. I then lost a ton of weight. I had 2 concerns walking in there. 1 - my dress was a little loose. 2 - my dress was (though beautiful) a mass produced design. These guys made several little tweaks that resulted in a well fitting & (somewhat) unique dress. The altered the neckline, moved the straps out, hemmed, and added a bustle. I didn't give 5 stars because the bustle actually broke during my first dance. But I'm not putting all the blame on them. It was a swing dance and there was a lot more movement than one would generally expect. I probably should have mentioned that to them when they were putting in the bustle. read more

Tae and the ladies did a great job altering my dress. They for sure have an eye for detail, and listened to what I wanted the final look and feel to be. The dress fit me like a glove on my wedding day, and it wasn't even as uncomfortable with how heavy it was. The shop is very efficient and quick, but at the same time, everything turned out beautiful. I was nervous to go here at first with the Yelp reviews, but I heard a lot of praise as it is used by most Miss Kansas and Miss Missouri ladies and has a good reputation by mouth. Loved my experience here! Initially went to a different alteration place that was recommended and it was terrible!! The dress was not fitted to me right, the material they tried to line my dress with didn't match and clashed. They lied to me and it was a nightmare. I was a month out from my wedding and had a bride freak out, bought a second dress I found on clearance at a bridal shop in case my original one didn't work out. I switched alteration places and went to Tae who is recommended by a friend and also Bridal Extraordinaire! Best decision! She got my dress fit properly and it looked beautiful! Even my mom commented that initially she didn't think there was much difference in seamstresses but after being at both places she was so impressed as well with Tae. Can't thank her enough! Im referring everyone her way! Your wedding day is such a big day in your life, everyone's checking out your dress, learn from my mistake and start here. Hope this helps others! read more

Out of all our wedding vendors this was the most disappointing experience of all, it is really hard to write about this, because frankly it still makes me upset to talk about. I had worked pretty hard to get in shape in a healthy way during the months leading up to the wedding and felt pretty comfortable about my body and how I looked. However, because of my alterations experience I was put in a very bad situation where I was basically forced to lose more weight inorder to breath in my wedding dress. Because I live out of town, they decided to do the majority of the alterations the week of the wedding (because they made a mistake 2 months earlier in not marking my waist and chest with pens). They refitted my sample dress for my waist and chest (straps and hem were done earlier) on a Friday and when I came back on Monday and there was a big gapping in the chest area and the dress was so tight that I could hardly breath. I tried complaining about the chest first and they said they would have to completely take apart the dress to fix the chest, but they finally agreed to fix it (but had to make it much more lowcut, which I was not happy about). As for the tightness, they kept telling me it wasn't too tight and that it was supposed to fit that way and basically refused to fix it. The owner and assistant were very aggressive and since I was alone I felt very overpowered by them. In complete distress I started researching ways to lose weight and debloat and ended up having to lose about 5 pounds so it would fit (I tried it on one another time during the week and had to keep losing).... I had to turn down dinners with family and friends, who I had not seen in months, just to try and keep the pounds off... it was heartbreaking. When I finally went to pick up the dress it was not ready (but when I called they said it was)and I had to drive to the dry cleaning place myself (which they partner with) and get it. Once I tried it on the dress satin looked wavy and wrinkly from the pressing. When I complained they reluctantly agreed to steam it for free (umm I was NOT going to pay for that botch job). They would not give me any discount for the awful job they did, and like I said they were very aggressive... I felt backed into a corner with these people. On my wedding day the dress looked great, but once I ate I was in serious pain. About half way through the reception someone gave me a big hug and the dress snapped... which ended up actually being a blessing because I could finally breathe and dance normally. Luckily the zipper stayed up and the broken hook and beading wasn't super noticeable in the evening light. I would not recommend these people, as I would never want this to happen to anyone else!! read more

The people at this shop basically helped insure my wedding happened. We had a lot of problems with the shop who ordered my gown and ended up being gownless a week before my wedding. Tae worked magic and was able to alter the dress (with 15+ ties for the bustle mind you) in plenty of time. She's a god send. Seriously, go here. The alteration experience was extremely frustrating at Bridal Design and More. I went in for my first fitting and had the dress marked for where to take in and hem as well as given a cost. I was told to come back for my 2nd fitting about a month out. I went in for my second fitting and had the following issues: 1. The hem was not touched 2. The front did not lay flat 3. The bustle had been made so there was 3 clear buttons going across my butt in plain site. I was told the bustle would look best there. If you can imagine that would mean while I was up on the alter and prior to bustling the 3 buttons would easily be seen. When scheduling my 3rd fitting she said to come the week of the wedding. We questioned if that would be too close. We asked if there needs to be anything changed would they have time. She told us she would not have time to have it ready before then. We proceeded to come in Tuesday before a Saturday wedding and had the following issues: 1. Dress still did not lay flat (still) 2. Dress was too big as I had lost a bit of weight since the last fitting was a month out. When we told her it needed to be taken in she said that would be an additional cost as this was my "final" fitting. We also told her it only needed to be taken in, in the waist and not the bust. She had me come back the next day. She ended up taking in the waist AND the bust which caused the bust to now be TOO tight. She now had to fix overnight and get to the steamer for me to have on time. When I went to pay the bill she not only charged me extra for having her take it in but she also charged me for the front not laying flat. She claimed she only took in the sides but didn't touch the front. I can confirm from pictures it did not lay like that when I went in originally. I'll give two stars because my dress ended up turning out looking good but not without many extra dollars and a lot of stress. read more

The woman I spoke to on the phone was extremely rude when I asked basic questions regarding costs and hung up on me when I said I purchased my dress out of state (in my hometown). My entire experience with Bridal Design and More was expensive, time consuming, and unpleasant. I had to order my dress a few sizes bigger in order to accommodate my hips. I understand that taking in a dress, especially one with extensive beading is difficult. However, the dress was still loose despite them taking it in. My biggest problem with them was discovering my dress straps were significantly uneven the day of the wedding. There was about a 1/2 inch difference in width between them. The difference was so significant that it is easily noticeable in our wedding pictures. They also did a last minute tacking on the chest line, and assured me that I wouldn't need to come back and try it on before my wedding. It was so poorly done that the dress was uneven on the hanger. We had to cut those loose and tape my dress to me so I wouldn't flash everyone at my wedding. I was also encouraged to buy heels instead of having them hem the dress, under the pretense of it saving me money. I think it was because they don't want to do their jobs. Originally, they told me to buy 1.5-2 inch heels. When I came back for my second fitting, the dress was still way too long. They then had me stand on a 1-inch board and we magically discovered I needed 2.5-inch shoes. Why they didn't have me stand on the boards to begin with is baffling. I'm truly grateful that I wasted money on shoes that I didn't even use. I strongly encourage people to take their alterations elsewhere, unless you enjoy hemorrhaging money on poorly done work. read more

If I could have chosen ZERO STARS OR NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD HAVE! We visited this place to have my sister's first wedding dress fitting. Tae, the "wanna-be" seamstress assigned to us, rushed us through the entire appointment. Simple alterations and moving appliqués is what my sister was requesting. Tae obliged at first, insisting her way was the right way the entire time. Once we got to our hour mark into the session, Tae became annoyed and said things like "I am doing this as a favor, and I'm not getting paid for this", "sometimes I can't please everyone that comes in here", and "maybe you should go another tailor". It was our pleasure to leave that wretched, heinous excuse for a boutique. Her attitude and demeanor our entire appointment was atrocious! read more

Tae and her staff are the best you can ask for. I had recently finished my final fitting and my dress fits like a dream. Tae takes notice to all the details and is very particular in getting every stitch, layer, and seam in working order to make your dress look straight out of a catalog. She noticed some of the lace of my dress needing restitched in a spot that I would have never seen! In addition to working to fix my gen until it was perfect, Tae worked within my budget, and schedule being extremely flexible when I called and generous enough to split payments before my final fitting. Tae also gave great insight through her many years of experience from getting a great bust in your dress without having too much cleavage all the way to showing family members the correct way to bustle my long train. This place was recommended to me by the shop I bought my wedding dress at. I loved my experience with them. My dress required a LOT of detailed alteration work because of the amount of layers but Hong did an AMAZING job. I'm 5'0'' so they already had to hem it a good amount. But in addition, my dress had detailing at the ends that they had to carefully detach THEN re-attach to the shortened hems. It also had several cascading layers so they had to measure different hem lengths. They did such an incredible job and the dress turned out even better than I could have imagined. There was also a lot of work in the bustle but they made sure my bridesmaids were comfortable bustling the dress for my wedding day. The price was more than fair and I left feeling like I was leaving family. Thank you Hong and the rest of bridal design for making my dress specifically MINE. read more

No bride should ever leave anywhere in tears and that's exactly what happened. My wedding dress came later than expected, two weeks before the wedding. I walked in just to inquire about an appointment. The lady was very rude and made the comment "Oh you're getting married in April 2015." No, who alters their dress a year in advance? I was indeed getting married in April of 2014, yes two weeks before the dress needed to be done. She began to say how late I was and that they'd have to rush it. From the beginning I felt like a big inconvenience. I never felt comfortable during the fitting. I went by myself and don't know anything about alterations so I was intimidated and am not good with conflict. I will agree with another reviewer that I too felt overpowered by the aggressive assistant. There was not much to do with the dress. All I wanted was a bustle and to take in a little on the sides, other than that the dress looked great. At the end of the appointment she gave me my bill. Bustle $56 Take in sides $80 Darts in lace as pinned $50 Bra cups $25 Fitting Fee $50 Rush Fee $100 Lingerie loops on lace $25 That's $386 dollars total! Being a bride on a budget I didn't even know what to do, I wanted out of there as soon as I could and left in tears. It's like they put extra charges on just because I was a "helpless last minute bride" they could take advantage of. When I told my fiancé he went there and got my dress back for me. My mother-in-law called them afterwards as well letting them know that what they did was wrong. I went to another alteration place and the lady was so kind and only charged me $120 for the exact same thing and got it done in plenty of time! Do your research and get a couple options when getting your dress altered. They are more than likely charging you way more than what is needed. read more

I had a horrible experience with Bridal Design. Having never altered a wedding dress before I trusted the shop I bought my dress from and went where they suggested. First fitting was fine, although I thought pricing was significantly high, learned to expect this with anything wedding related. At the second fitting my dress was still too big in the chest, even with cups sewn in, so the suggested fix was white duct tape to lift my bust. This did improve the fit of the dress that day and I trusted these were professionals and they knew what to do. I did order some different stick on bras before my 3rd and final fitting to see if I could avoid tape being pulled off on my chest on my wedding night. Alas, the last fitting rolls around and again the only answer they have for the gaping top of my dress is to tape my chest up. My sister learns the technique, I pay the impressive bill, and am sent on my way. Luckily I thought to leave the tape on for the day, see how it held up and if I had an allergic reaction. Stayed on and no allergy but when the tape came off so did MY SKIN! The tension of the tape caused blisters where it was anchored on my R side! Again thankfully I was bandaged an oozing from my side a random week instead of on my honeymoon!!! So at 3 weeks before my wedding I'm running out of ideas and options. I'm so grateful I DID find an alterations team (Fatma's) who would help me on such short notice, and they were able to take my dress in adequately, charging me for their time not an exorbitant fee. It ended up fitting wonderfully, staying on tape free the entire day of my wedding. NO thanks to Bridal Design! It's now been more than 2 months and I still have scars, just hope the same thing doesn't happen to someone else and if you can't alter a dress to actually fit, please send an unknowing bride elsewhere. read more

Before you subject yourself to what my daughter went through based on the other review, please read this one. Unless you are a bride who wants to be two hours from walking down the aisle with a dress (fresh off the hanger from the final fitting) that unzipped all the way off the zipper track, then listen up. Forty-five minutes later, we managed to cut off the bottom of the zipper (which wasn't attached to anything) and put the zipper back on track while my daughter sat in front of a fan nearly hyperventiling. Again at the reception, my daughter was hiding out in the bathroom until someone found me - again, with a broken zipper. Thirty minutes later, we had it rigged up again. This was not an issue of the zipper spreading because the dress was too tight. My daughter is on her honeymoon right now and the dress is in her apartment. When she returns, I will be assessing the dress to see if this could possibly be a manufacturing problem, which I doubt since removing the zipper to take in the dress was part of the exorbitant price we paid Tae to alter this dress. I will also be taking the dress to another tailor for an evaluation of the work. If it turns out to be a manufacturer problem, I will post another review based only upon the other shoddy workmanship related to the alterations, which will bring the rating up apprioximately one star. Bridal Design and More was recommened to me by Bridal Extrodinaire for an alterations. I called and was quoted around $300 for my alterations by Dona. My total bill was $636.00. I was told it would be 3 fittings, but ended up going to their salon at least 6 times. During my fittings I was repeatedly told that I had unrealistic expectations and they could not fix parts of my dress. I am a particular person, but I feel most girls are particular about their wedding dress. The number one reason I would not recommend this as an alterations place is that I felt I was never listened to. Neither Tae nor Dona cared to hear my thoughts or concerns. My bra cups were not sewn in until my very final fitting and the belt was never sewn until after my final fitting, so I never got to see it until I picked it up from the Bridal salon. My last fitting had to be rescheduled "due to the morning time not being a good time". The bra cups ended up having to be removed because they made my dress stick out and I had to find a bra to wear with my dress 5 days before my wedding. Another big concern was that I felt my belt was slighltly uneven. I was told by both women that it was an "optical" illusion and that it was even. When I got my dress to my hometown and took it out of the bag I measured it myself. The belt was sewn on uneven, however both women had insisted it was not. There were also strings hanging down from the font of my dress. I called a month after my wedding to let them know that I had to have someone come and sew the strings back in to my dress. The alteration person in my hometown took one look at the dress and said "you are right it is uneven", "do you want me to fix it for you". The fix took no less than 10 minutes. When I spoke with Tae on the phone I was yelled at for 15 minutes straight saying things like "We hate working with people like you", "I spent too much time on your dress", "I don't believe that your belt was uneven", "I don't believe that someone else fixed it for you", "you cried in my shop and you don't even know what a problem is", "I can do nothing for you", "if you think this is expensive you have no idea what this costs", and far too many other hurtful things. She wanted to speak to the person who fixed my dress in my hometown, but I refused since I did not want her yelling at the person who actually listened to me. The first 2 fittings were okay, but after that it was downhill. Of note, my friend took her bridesmaid dress there and Dona was incredibly rude to her. Both of us agree that we will never be returning. Again, I admit I am a picky person, but I was never rude or cruel to any of their staff. After all, it was my wedding dress and I think every girl has a vision for their wedding dress. I truly have never felt more disrespected than after my final phone conversation with Tae. I told her I just wanted to let her know that I had to have things fixed and I was going to write a review. Her final response before she hung up on my was "you write a review, I don't give a crap."
