This morning, I had an incredible experience at Brides by Jessa! It was my very first time looking for and trying on wedding dresses, and I felt so celebrated and cared for as a customer. Miriam spent about 2 hours and 20 minutes with us, and I probably tried on about 6 or 7 dresses in total. She was very helpful in talking me through what kinds of dresses I thought I liked, and allowed me to not feel too narrowed into one "style" or shape, which I appreciated. She made genuine comments about how a dress flattered and accentuated my body, she never made me feel 'bad' about my body or size. She asked questions about my fiancée and discussed how she wants her brides to feel comfortable, beautiful, confident, and that during the dress shopping experience, to consider how you hope to feel on your wedding day. It was a really great experience! I am an LGBTQ bride and so it feels very important to me that my vendors (?), or folks involved in the wedding are affirming and supportive, and I definitely felt that with Miriam! We also had a good conversation about how getting more options for plus size dresses is an area of interest for the shop, and how pleased I was with the selection they did have. I tried on dresses from size 16-22, I believe. I wear a size 18 in Old Navy jeans, if that helps...! I have not decided on a dress yet, but I will definitely be making a follow up appointment with Brides by Jessa to continue my search. read more

Two days before my wedding I decided my dress needed a belt, the big challenge was that I needed to be an exact length because of the open back details. There was a belt I fell in love with but it was too long but Alli and Jessa to the rescue!!! Just picked my wedding veil (two of them) and they are so beautiful. I can't wait to try them on. This is the cutest bridal shop I've been to in my search. I had ordered my dress from somewhere before I visited this store and went to look for a veil. Staff are so friendly and very helpful and were able to find exactly what I was looking for. I had a fantastic experience at Brides By Jessa! I decided to check out the store semi-reluctantly at first-- thinking I probably wouldn't find the very specific dress I had envisioned. Walking into the store was like a DREAM. It's an adorable, classy gem of a boutique. I described the kind of dress & price range I was looking for and Jessa had it! She is super kind, personable, affirming and passionate about all things bridal! :-) She was respectful of my personal taste/style, which was empowering. Jessa was also very helpful in explaining what slight alterations might be needed. She definitely gave me a sense of peace and confidence as I practiced my walk down the aisle and decided to say yes to the dress. Bought my dress from Brides by Jessa and I am extremely happy about this decision! Though I havent received the dress yet (takes 4-6 months to come in) my experience dress shopping was amazing. Jessa and her team are so professional yet friendly! This was the first bridal salon I went to so I was a little nervous because I had no idea what to expect. But boy oh boy did I feel comfortable the entire time (even when I was getting in and out of the dresses ... thought it'd be awkward but wasnt at all)! One thing I really appreciated was that Jessa and her girls didnt give me their opinions about the dresses I tried on until AFTER I/my bridal party said our opinions. That was extremely important to me because I didnt feel any pressure from them at all. Oh! and they didnt tell me I looked beautiful in ALL of the dresses I had on, which made the ones I looked good in stand out all the more. They also asked me for my budget ahead of time and stuck to it..in fact, the dress I went with was 1/3 under my budget (and Jessa personally picked that one out for me)!! Score!! Like I said I havent received my dress yet and my wedding is still a ways away, but so far I give Brides by Jessa 5 stars (dont think anything will change)! read more

I had an awesome experience at Brides by Jessa! They have dresses here that you can't find anywhere else in Iowa and they are all beautiful. I liked that the dresses were all out and available to touch & feel. Jessa was so nice & gave great wedding advise. I have to say I did not find my dress here but I found a close second that I almost bought. I will be going back here for my veil, accessories & bridesmaids dresses though. I would recommend this store to any bride, I visited several other salons and I had the best experience here by far. read more
