We did a 4 day Fallout trip around West Virginia and we were glad we added this massive bridge and National Park to our itinerary.

You just have to hike a short distance on the Kaymoor Trail from the trailhead. You will cross over a creek on a small bridge. It had been raining for a couple of days prior, so the waterfall was flowing really nicely. The unique thing about this waterfall is that a lot of the rocks had moss on them. It also continues to fall underneath the trail path. Definitely a nice waterfall to see, and a short hike from trailhead. The path is not paved though, so not stroller friendly. Get outside and enjoy friends!

It took about half an hour to get our harnesses on and get shuttled to the bridge walk site. We spent about an hour walking the bridge one way and the shuttle picked us up at the opposite end. Our guide was Pete and he was full of bridge knowledge. He snapped a photo for us too. Most importantly, I also felt safe the entire time. The tour runs rain or shine. No refunds. We got lucky and it was clear skies (a little windy) for our 9:30am tour, but the 11am definitely got a bit wet later that day. Definitely a check off the bucket list while you're at New River Gorge NP!

When we approached the harder rapids like Keeneys and Double Z, having Bean as the raft guide made me feel a lot secure because he's very capable and he takes this profession very seriously. Then there is Scott who is also very funny. He talks a lot of sensible humor and looks out for his co-workers. He pitches heavily but nicely about (clients) showing appreciation for the great time at the hands of New and Gauley River Adventures staff. This is a must-see for the area. There are many sights to…read moresee in the New Gorge National Park like the Sandstone Falls, overlook, the New Gorge Bridge, and others. This is definitely one of the sites that you should see if you are visiting this area. It is not just one site, the Fayette Station bridge, it is an entire drive with some great spots and pullouts along the way. This drive starts on the north side of the bridge behind the visitor's center on the road to the right (the one that goes downhill). It is a well-paved road that has 2 switchbacks and a pullout or two on the north side and then you are down by the river and driving across the bridge. There is a place to stop by the bridge for those that want to walk across it. There is a park on the south side a little bit down from the bridge. The south side road taking you back up to the main road also has some very nice views along the way. This is a wonderful drive that is well worth the time and effort. I highly recommend this drive and site to any of my fellow travelers in the area.

The view was absolutely breathtaking and gave us plenty of time to stretch and take the sites of the West Virginia mountains. Well, not overly large. It is the perfect size to get a quick break during long road trips and see parts of the country that you may not normally see.

This was a moderate 3.2-mile out-and-back to the lookout point with views of the bridge…read more There is a slow descent in the beginning, followed by a slightly steeper descent in the middle, then an ascent up to the lookout point. I included a photo of the elevation during the hike. There are a number of parking spots at the trailhead (maybe 25 or so). During a weekday morning, there were only about 7-10 cars there. This is one of the two "must do" hikes in the New River Gorge National Park, and I'm glad we had the experience.
