One of the owners, Frances, is also a beautiful artist and creates gorgeous paintings, you will NEED to check them out when visiting. She also has a beautiful path behind the hotel that will lead you up to her garden that she maintains herself. It's so fun that this hotel has a bar downstairs and a restaurant at the other end, I even believe there is an ice cream shop a few steps away outside. Everything you need is here for a relaxing getaway. We cannot wait to go back someday.

This room is spacious, has new good bathroom and a large, old bed where you can feel the springs. But the best is the view to the water! The breakfast was not good, no free tables, no one to clear the tables, sticky unclean fork, no good choices.

Popped along to the Boat House at Cameron House on Loch Lomond at the weekend for a birthday lunch…read more(not mine). If Cameron House is tartaned up to the eyeballs, The Boat House takes its influence from across the pond (a bigger one than the loch it's situated beside) with a New England nautical style. Very pretty and a lot more relaxed and informal than the hotel. Glass walls giving you alternate views of the loch, the golf course and the yachts. I counted...one two three A LOT of yachts. Best to go on a sunshiney day with all these windows! Okay, on to the food now. i'm a veggie and somehow that makes me difficult to please. Chefs of the world, take note: we eat more than goat's cheese and pastry! Er...so I started with some goat's cheese, but I think if you are a fish fan this is definitely the plaice (ahahaha. ha. hm) to go. There were cockles and mussels by the bucketload. Pizzas looked amazing, thin and crispy and hot out the woodburning stove. I wish I'd got one of them for my main. But I didn't, I ended up with some more cheese and vegetables with some salad leaves. Everyone else's main courses got the two thumbs up though. Highlights were my non alcoholic (I was driving!) berry surprise cocktail and the awesome peanut butter and chocolate icecream I had with my all American apple pie. If all the food leaves you feeling roly poly full, you can go for a wander round the loch to work it off or have a wee snooze in the sun on one of the benches. I'll go back for the pizzas next time.

Absolutely incredible location…read more Was in Glasgow for business, and we came out here for dinner one night. The view: breathtaking! The ambiance of the restaurant was easy elegance. Walking into the bar area, I could have thought I was walking into a giant luxurious living room in Town & Country. Wickerbasket couches in marine blues and whites, large window panes overlooking the lake, boats. The food was delicious - portions were large, and although I can't remember what it was I ordered, I remember being thrilled by the location almost as much as the food!

However, I think the facilities in the Visitor Centre are a bit disappointing for the size of the place. The cafe is quite large with lots of wooden tables and chairs, and it's clean and tidy, but there's little in the way of refreshments, just coffee/tea and a small selection of cakes and biscuits. The one lady serving could have been friendlier too. Apart from that, it's a nice building and shelter from the elements (!) with useful leaflets about the area, and some children's toys for sale. A big car park, and it's free too.

We sat in the comfortable lounge area - there were a few other people in there when we arrived, and it was nearly silent, making for a somewhat awkward arrival. Some tunes came on the TV (hits of the 90s, I was in heaven) and we settled back with our beers. I was quite hungry but food wasn't being served until 6pm, so we snacked on some peanuts instead. Within about 1/2 an hour the bar was heaving, it seems perhaps there was some kind of Tarbert pub crawl going on and every table was full. With a relaxing, friendly vibe this was a nice stop for a drink although with the limited range of beers, I'd trying visiting other pubs first to see if anyone had anything a bit more interesting.
