There were various businesses as well; music lessons, yoga studio, hair salon, barn door refurbishers, massage therapy, acupuncture, various of other shops. Kismet Co. Is a lovely metaphysical shop located in there; they sell herbal tea, oils, art, jewelry, soaps, books, crystals, and other items. The antique items were plentiful and unique. The building is historic and very cool to see all the old remnants of the axe factory. Parking lot was a decent sized. Lisa's Crown and Hammer is located on the same lot and the Farmington Trail. If you're into antiques, thrifts stores, and yard/tag sales; you will love this place.

I've been furnishing an older home in the Berkshires for about a year and a half, and compared to the Fairfield County area (the old Mongers Market, Our Place, etc.) I find this shop to be perfect. I've been splitting time between NW CT and Western Mass for neat finds. Like most spots, you need to be able to maneuver in small spaces in most booths. You also need to be able to crouch down and stand back up now and then, or bring someone with you who can. I did not consider any of the prices I encountered to be over the top, and there's plenty of parking. There is also a lot of variety and unique finds. I highly recommend it if you're in the market for some treasures. I know I will definitely be back soon.

I saw racks and racks of men's and women's clothing, shoes, accessories, footwear, household goods, dishes, and kitchen equipment in the front of the store. In the back of the store were CD's, record albums, thousands of books, collectibles and pretty much everything. I even saw three Pez dispensers with likenesses of former presidents. Much of the inventory is what I'd call vintage, which is a code word for "old". Those items may not be for everyone, but if you're into old dishes, bric a brac, dolls, China, wall hangings, glassware, jewelry, furniture, and lamps, well Favarh might just be what you're looking for. Today was 50% off day, and I scooped up two ties marked at $2 each for a grand total of $2.13. You might find a thrift store out there with better quality merchandise, but I'm not sure you'll find one with as much stuff as I saw here. And since their proceeds go to charity, it's well worth your time to check out their stock and see what bargains appeal to you.

The employees there are volunteers. Once I walked in, it looked like a boutique. Clothes, shoes, and cutlery/china were in the front area. Everything was organized by size and color. I immediately found a Vineyard Vines sweater that I loved for $12. They have sales based on color of the day/week; I would ask the employee for that information. In the back section, they had household items, books, and miscellaneous items. You can also sign up for their free rewards card; you gain points from every purchase and that adds up for future discounts. Overall, a great thrift store and I look forward to shopping there.

But I have always liked Flea Markets. When I lived in Central MA, we used to hit the Grafton Flea Market a lot and bought inexpensive stuff like household goods, kitchen stuff, baseball cards, etc. When I opened up this week's local paper and started perusing -my eyes locked on a big ad for "Flea Market at Burlington Inn Antiques. The ad gave a phone number for dealer spaces and dealer information. 20X20 spaces were $20 and it asked vendors to bring their own tables. This sure made it sound like a nice big outdoor flea market. The ad said you could buy antiques, comics, baseball cards, sports memorabilia, fishing tackle, model trains, and household items. Sure sounds like exactly the kind of flea market I would like. As we drove down Route 4, I figured it would be easy to spot the outdoor flea market. I was wrong, my GPS told me I had passed it. I made a U-Turn and pulled into the parking lot of Burlington Inn Antiques, and to my astonishment there was no outdoor anything. No tables, no vendors, no nothin'. The store was open and we saw a lot of cool stuff, but this seemed to be what they sell on a regular basis. I asked the proprietor where the baseball cards were, and she said they were taken out of the store for a card show. The newspaper ad said the Flea Market operates every Sunday from 8:00 -3:00. Except there was no flea market. So WTF???

This is such a great way to spend a Saturday night. Even if you don't buy anything in the auction…read more(which you'd be nuts not to), they have delicious burgers, dogs, and pies. Oh my word the pies! I was fortunate enough to visit the auction with my family, and had heard about all of the unique, vintage finds that you can get there. I was intimidated to bid at first as I've never really been to an auction. But once I saw others do it, and how the ladies on the stage yell out the bid, I was entertained from the beginning and got into it. The owner/auctioneer Richard is quite funny. He livens the place up with his quirky comments and provides a non-threatening, overall fun environment. I came home with a side table, a white trunk, a box of silk scarves and several glass items. All for about $50. Love it! Although the auction is awesome, I do need to give a shout out to the pie maker. Holy cow. I've tried a cream pie and a fruit pie and both are to die for. Even if you don't want to buy anything, it's still worth coming just for the pie.
