Great course along the Embarcadero. Flat and fast, and the last two miles of the 12K are on comfy gravel along the beach at Chrissy Field. Not the fastest or most serious running crowd. With the upside of low stress and less formality around registration, slightly disorganized start corral, etc. A little pricey at $75 for 12K on the day of. About 2,400 runners, so way more sane than Bay to Breakers. The other B2B is more competitive and more fun, but you can't beat the course and Marina Green is 15 degrees warmer than the OB end of Golden Gate Park, which makes for a more enjoyable post-race scene for runners. read more

Decided to do the sf original run series which includes 4 iconic runs of SF Bay to breakers SF marathon The giants race and lastly Glide bridge to Bridge Relatively nice run by the Embarcadero to fisherman's wharf and aquatic park, then go up hill towards fort mason and then down hill all the way to Crissy field Marina to the finish line for the 5k run. The expo and after race concert are there too. PROS I liked this run, great views and scenery. The Glide booth had tons of giveaways. The lady there was piling the floss pick into my bag, there were also notepads, tee shirts and earphones. Also had my photo taken by Glide and photo can be seen online. Picked up my signed poster from the artist of the poster for the run at the Dignity health booth. Was happy to pick up my SF series medal and tee shirt at the booths. Shuttles were announced clearly for the return to downtown. The race started at 9 and the weather was way too hot to run. Would prefer an earlier start time like 8 or 8.30am to avoid the heat. CONS Wish they had some mile markers along the way, so i can pace myself and give it my all at the last mile but I did not know when that was, because there was no signage. Unlike other runs, there weren't a lot of food. I managed to get a protein milkshake, water, banana, tangerine and nuts. I guess it's better than nothing. Was disappointed not to get a medal for this run. Would have been nice to have the SF series medal as a bonus for doing all four, as well as a medal for the bridge to bridge run...disappointed. Even though bridge to bridge, it's not literally, because the race ends on the marina but you do get to see both the Bay bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. The material of the tee was cotton, not the same dri fit material of previous races. Overall, a great run to end the SF series. But should give out finishers medal anyway. read more

I thought this event was great and will not hesitate to sign up again next year! Registration and pre-event communication was easy and clear. I loved the 5K route from the Ferry Building (BARTable!) to Marina Green. Actually, I loved it except for that stupid hill around 2.5 miles in at Fort Mason. (You know the one. UGH.) I really enjoyed running through a typically tourist-crowded area of the city, sans tourists. I felt like we had a special backstage pass. At the finish, we quickly grabbed water bottles, a few snacks and our shirts and then made our way to a well deserved brunch. read more

The event ran out of water before 1/2 of the participants crossed the finished line; it took 45 minutes for them to replenish water. It felt very disorganized, no one knew who was in charge. I've done a lot of these runs and have never experienced a run without water at the finish line. The last thing you want to deal with after running 7 1/2 miles is hydration after paying $50 to participate. We ended up purchasing some water from the food trucks. The power generator also went out and the inflatable finish line deflated. Most of the sponsors did not have anything left when I finished and I was a mid-mark finisher (1,800 out of 3,100), so no water and only bananas were left. Whoever put on this event should be replaced with a new company next year. read more

Great race for a great cause. This year, the start of the race came with a light rain. The scenic views can't be beat along the Embarcadero. The unfortunate minuses: NO FOOD at the end of the race. This is seriously the first race where there wasn't fruit, bagels, cereal bars of some kind, SOMETHING.. But, no. Nothing. For some reason they ran out of bananas as people were crossing the finish line. How is this possible? Another HUGE minus. The excruciating wait for the bus for a ride back to the car area/start area. We waited about 1.5 hours in line for a bus. There was maybe 4-5 buses and there just didn't seem enough organization to get more of them. Overall, the tents didn't offer much. Tips for next year: Have a friend park at the end in the Park Presidio area and drive you back. Call a cab. Bring food. I guess the small pluses: a live band and the KNBR tent offering a free beer. Hmph. Free beer and NO food? Sadly, this race left a little bitter taste in my mouth. read more

3.5 stars for me on this race. Luckily the weather was perfect this year being a little chilly and no rain. It seemed like it was going to sprinkle but the running Gods were with us and whisked it away ! Pros: - 12k and 7k is the same pricing and the course is really nice and scenic. 40 bucks but my friends and I did a group thing and got a 2.00 discount. Woo! - It really is from Bridge to Bridge because you start at a later time - 9am which is great for Saturday night and going out at the Ferry Building by Bay Bridge and run to the past Chrissy Field to the Presidio so you have the view of Golden Gate. You're running along Embarcadero which is all blocked out for traffic so you never have to stop and go - I never stop at Aid stations but there was definitely a good amount and with cheerful volunteers! I like when there are sprinkles of kids telling you where to go or encouraging you. - Free stuff was pretty minimal but it was a cheaper race- some free stuff were beer, hospital recyclable bag, aluminum blankets which was cool, and some KRS energy stuff Cons: - Waiting for the bus! So since this race was point to point and not a loop its great because of the scenic run but after that you just want to go back t your car, shower, take a nap, whatever. Instead you are waiting as long/longer than your actual run to get back. My suggestion for next year is having one of your friends go to the finish line area and swoop you up. PLENTY of parking because people didn't know about this option. Nice flat run tho.. oh oh except for one hill by Fort Mason! A doozy but its good! read more

This is a great 12k that will get one set up nicely in order to run the Giants Half Marathon. Everything went off without a hitch. My bib was mailed to me in a prompt fashion so I would not have to worry about going to an expo! The race itself was well organized and had so many friendly volunteers. Thank you volunteers. The course itself is very flat so don't be scared of those San Francisco hills as there is only one in the race. The view are wonderful as one runs from Bay Bridge to the Golden Gate and back through Crissy Field. There are enough photographers on the course to ensure you will have a picture or two. The Finisher's Expo was a treat with merch available for purchase, unique race posters (for free) along with games, drinks and food trucks! The shuttles back to the start line was super convenient and organized. I highly recommend to park in the Embarcadro parking garages as you will be just mere minutes from the start line and where the shuttles drop you off. Parking was a total of $17...we were there an hour before the race and hung out at the Finisher's Expo for a good hour or so after the race. The medal was super fun and very unique. Love the thought that was put into them. Highly recommend this run to anyone. read more

This is an easy 12K run that has a beautiful course. You start at The Ferry Building and run down the embarcadero, through the marina all the way to Fort Point then back to a finish in The Presidio. The scenery cannot be beat and it's relatively flat so it's a good race for beginners. I'm definitely going to sign up again next year! This run is not the famous Bay to Breakers and it's nowhere near as crazy. It's a race for those who wants beautiful scenery at every turn and who are semi-serious about actually completing it! The main concept of this race was it suppose to start at the Bay Bridge and ends at the Golden Gate Bridge. In reality it started in front of the Ferry Market building and ends in the Presidio. So Bridge to Bridge is not really....bridge to bridge. After running the Bay to Breakers for so many years, I figured I'll give Bridge to Bridge a try. Marketed as "the most beautiful run", it certainly didn't disappoint. The race course was very scenic starting with the Ferry Market Building on Embarcadero, through the famed (and smelly) Fisherman's Wharf, Aquatic Park, and along the Municipal Pier. There's a climb (30 degree grade) to conquer which plops you down to Fort Point and into the Presidio for the finish line. For the most part the race course was relatively flat and easy. Although there were a few spots where runners cheated by cutting across instead of running around the entire perimeter (boo!). And yes they were booed! Unlike B2B, there were no costumes or nudity (thank goodness!). There were no slushes (none that I saw) either. What I did like was that you were able to check in your sweats and retrieve them after the race. On the year that I did this race, the shuttle buses (they're really yellow school buses) were far in-between. A bunch of us were shivering in the cold crisp October morning waiting nearly 30 minutes for a bus to come and scoop us up. By then we were all stiff and hurting! Overall Bridge to Bridge is not a bad race and I would run it again. It's not as commercial as B2B so there are little to no distractions along the course. As with all foot races, there were a few places where it wasn't all that exciting but I still enjoyed the run. read more

Complimentary schoolbus ride back to start - AMAZING Finish area - with free BEER and FOOD This run was extremely organized and set the bar pretty high. So high that during other races, I find myself comparing why they didn't do this or that. I'm still not sure how more than a couple participants cruised past everyone pushing strollers!!! read more

Really good water stations this year. Loved the bananas by the cool kids at the end. Minus 2 stars for: -- the rude dickhead at the sweat truck who refused sweats from about 15-20 runners as it was "time to pack it up", he was mean and nasty, not really what people want in their faces so early in the morning and this was over 10 minutes before the race (what are the sweats for if you have to take them off so early?). -- for some reason they stopped putting mile markers out after mile 4. I don't get it, you ran out? It's a bummer when you think you're almost done and then a faulty "mile 5" marker is up when it should have been 6, no biggy but my morale nose dived and I was pissed off until the end of the race after that. read more

This is a pretty solid fun run with the option of running a 5k (3 miles) or 12k (7 miles) from literally the Bay Bridge to the Golden Gate Bridge just as the race is named. The route for the most part is all mostly flat with the exception of the infamous Fort Mason hill (it's really not thaaat bad guys...at least compared to other steeper hills throughout the city). Registration online is pretty straightforward, prices increase when it draws closer to race day. They mail out the bibs and chip tag for shoes, which is convenient. This year they got cheap and didn't give away finisher t-shirts...for one thing the finisher tees in the past were already not dri-fit material and now they just don't give em out completely!? With a $45-50 registration fee, I feel that they should at least give out cotton t-shirts along with the well deserved medal. The only shirts they had were for purchase...really? No thanks. Anyway, the route starts at the Ferry Building where people round up to participate in group stretches, drop their stuff off if you want to do the bag pick up, use the restroom in the porta-potties, drink water etc. The race starts at 9am which is little later than most in the city, but I guess since it's only a 5k and 12k, it doesn't take as long as a half or full marathon. The route runs down embarcadero, through pier 49 and fisherman's wharf, up the fort mason hill to Marina blvd, to Crissy field, to the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge right before Hopper's Hands and back to the Marina green where all the boats dock. Fairly easy and scenic route, with mile markers throughout the course. I did the 12k and there were only 2 water stations set up, which seemed to be just enough. The finisher area had a lot to offer with samples from Ghiradelli, Blue Diamond, Glide B floss of course, Gordon Biersch beer (1st one was free for runners wearing their racer bib, whoo!), TRX equipment for a post run stretch, bananas, etc. Lines were a bit long and not really worth for me to wait in besides the free beer lol. I also later found out that the 2015 Warriors Championship trophy were in one of the tents, so that's pretty cool. All in all, it's a decent fun run or race to sign up in preparation for other bigger marathons. Just a bummer that they stopped giving out free finisher tees. read more

(A delayed review but better late than never.) Another convert here for the annual Bridge to Bridge run! I've tried to go for the last few years but always ended up out of town somehow during this time. This year was different. After we parked underground and pulled right into a spot, we proceeded to set-up my little niece in her stroller because she was ready to go. The day was beautiful - sun shining with a little morning coolness, and everyone was stretching and people-watching just like us. Soon, they announced for everyone to line-up at their pace marker and since I had a stroller, I was at the back of the line. Pleasantly enough, I was one of many stroller joggers and walkers so my niece and I made friends instantly! The run was seriously perfect! Mostly flat with a couple calve-burning hills but really no big deal. Of course, the view of the water was pleasing as who doesn't love looking at beautiful scenery? Towards the end of the run, groups of Cheer folk (cheerleaders without the pom poms and short skirts) were cheering on the runners as they past by and approached the finish line. It gave you a good laugh. Finally, at the end, you were given your time, water, and a little bag of goodies. Booths were set-up with more treats and a great area was set aside for the kids in the race...or those waiting for their parents to finish the race. My niece loved the performing pirate! He was really funny and you didn't have to be 3 years old to get his jokes, hee hee. Another treat for my niecey-pooh were all of the dogs there and since she is a natural animal-lover, she befriended every single canine present! Literally! As we were shuttled back to our car, we reminisced about the superb morning and committed to participating in this run every year from there on out. I'll keep you posted but I'm pretty certain we'll be doing many more annual runs in the city! read more

My wife and I make a regular trip to SF on the Bridge to Bridge weekend. October is hands-down the best weather month for San Francisco! Beooootiful! This weekend was fabulous and the Bridge to Bridge was icing on the SF weekend cake. For a 12K it's a breeze - flat save for a little hill in the middle. Hands down the most beautiful run in the Bay Area -- except perhaps the marathon, but that's not fair cause you cover more ground in the marathon. I used to run this race every single year back in the day (pre 2000!!)... then I escalated to Marathon status and began to poo-poo the 10/12k distrance races. That was years ago. Since then, I've burned out of marathons/triathlons and got pretty darn close to retiring from running altogether... I was inspired to sign up this year after a few successful, pain-free training runs. Guess what??? I'm sucked right back into the racing world. When's the next race that I can sign up for?!!?! I totally forgot what a positive experience a well-organized run/race can be. I finished in 1 hour 13 minutes and change... probably my worst time ever, but I am happy that I simply felt great/strong throughout. My competitive spirit always comes out and I can't help but pass anyone who is in my way and who I am capable of passing! : ) The highlight for me was enjoying Lagunitas beer (thanks KNBR!) and listening to Zoo Station after the race. What an awesome choice for post-race entertainment! Kudos to all involved for another successful event on a spectacular October day in San Francisco! read more

Best thing is still the free soft-serve vanilla ice-cream at the end, but why so small???? and my friend needs BIG CHOCOLATE, i just need biGGer vanilla. A perfect run and perfect day, lots of time left after running for more walking, lunching, yoga, freaky people watching at folsom, walking, biking, whatever... *older review* fun run! but... buttons you have to lace onto your shoes, then unlace at the finish line to track finish time, how annoying. and oxygenated water to wash down garlic fries after running 12k, yuck. and too many strollers, why run with a baby, i don't get it. maybe if it were on your back, that'd make sense. but... free vanilla soft serve ice cream cones. great run! read more

Great scenic route although the finish line festival on the soggy Marina Greens was a bit smelly. I ran the bridge to bridge as my 4 of 4th race in the San Francisco Originals Run Series so this race in particular was especially rewarding in earning that awesome medal. Also rewarding was knowing proceeds were benefiting the Special Olympics. I have a brother in law who is a special education teacher for over 10 years so I highly respect those who have the patience, courage, and honor in helping the developmental disabled. Props to Glide Floss! Views along the route included the Ferry Building, Pier 39, Aquatic park, Fort Mason, Chrissy Fields, partial views of the Palace of Fine Arts, and of course the Golden Gate Bridge. Coincidentally I get to take in all these views on my next run but will be a half marathon in which I get to actually cross the Golden Gate. The Bridge to Bridge Run was a great warm up. read more

This run in perfect weather the loveliest reminder of why SF is such a special place. And we had perfect weather today! You start off at the Ferry Terminal and end up in the Presidio, running along the Embarcadero, Fisherman's Wharf, Fort Mason, Marina and Crissy Field. I loved the fact that the Embarcadero was closed off to runners and we had Fisherman's Wharf to ourselves. Not even the Bush Man was awake to scare the bejeezus out of me. I decided to run Bridge to Bridge since I had already completed 3/4 of the races in the SF Originals Series (Bay to Breakers, SF Marathon, Giants Race) and liked the medal. I must say that this was definitely one of the least organized races that I have ever run. Compared to the other 3 races, this was an amateur production. Bibs for the race were supposed to be mailed to all participants who registered before t-7 days from the race. I never received mine and thought that maybe I was a special case. The instructions on the website said to go to Will Call the morning of if that happens. I did so only to find a line that must have had at least 25% of the runners in it who were missing their bib. To make matters worse, there were only 4 volunteers helping to get people their new bibs. I got mine after waiting about 15 minutes but still. This is poor organization and something must have gone wrong. I *was* impressed with how quickly they were able to assemble the start line and get people moving. They closed the Embarcadero starting at 7:45AM for an 8:00AM start which was impressive. We were moving by 8:05AM after a warm up from Dignity Health. The course was not what was advertised on the website in terms of the turning point. I think the mile markers were off. I was running with my Apple Watch and though my watch recording 7.55 miles (expected) by the time the race was done, the 6 mile marker was DEFINITELY 1/4 of a mile past where my Watch measured 6 miles. Plus, their aid stations were not where they were announced to be. The main positive of the race was the finish line festival which was definitely one of the best that I had attended. The music by a local radio station was on point and fun. They had Peet's Cold Brew (the BEST recovery drink IMO) as well as Beer, Cider and Champagne for all finishers. Marina Green is a great place to end a race. Plus, getting on the complimentary shuttles back to Embarcadero Station was easy and we didn't have to wait too long. Would I do the race again? Probably not. This was too stressful and too much went wrong. For a race that has been run 40+ times, this was ridiculous. read more

I thought it was going to be a nice flat run along Embarcadero but beware, there is a nasty hill near Presidio and you end on an incline so it is difficult to sprint at the end. I like how they announce your name as you cross the finish line and for me they added a reference to my "Aerosmith" last name = Tracy "Love in an Elevator" Arrowsmith - nice touch. This is our second time running the B2B ... first time running the 12K. There was a lot I liked (yeah! motivational signs along the route) and the route is beautiful. However, there was NO WATER left when we finished the 12K ... and NO, we were not last :0 Our pace time was just under 11 min/mile ... there was more than 1000 to finish after us according to the run results. And for $50 registration fee ... a B2B shirt would have been nice. read more

In addition to benefiting Special Olympics of Northern Cal, there are lots of goodies at the finish line, a misting tent, giveaways, coffee, live music, free massages....and the best muscle relaxer of all: free wine. :-) read more

What a great event! My daughter and I walked the 5K portion of the Bridge to Bridge Run and had a fantastic time. It's well-managed and not a zoo-like atmosphere! Walking the course gives you a great perspective on the city that you wouldn't get otherwise. All the participants we encountered were in great spirits and the race volunteers along the way were wonderful cheerleaders. read more

Beautiful course along the SF Bay with great views of many attractions, like Alcatraz, Coit Tower, Fisherman's Warf and Golden Gate Bridge. Would like to have taken BART from the East Bay, but first train didn't arrive at Embarcadero until 25 minutes after the race start. It was a great day to run, cool and clear, but was a little surprised they didn't have any race shirts - missed that in the literature. There were some Glide Floss shirts available, but the line was about 30 minutes to get one, so opted-out of that. Festival had lots of stuff going on and the bus service back to the start was pretty easy and fast - will probably be back again next year. read more

Just a nice race. I've done it twice and will probably do it every year. Not too long, weather is usually superb, great course, beautiful views. What's not to like? Go fast and then get an ice bath for your legs at Chrissy Field. Parking downtown on a Sunday morning is a breeze, and the shuttle got me right back to my car in a jiffy. read more

Great course with beautiful scenery that starts at the ferry building and goes towards the GG Bridge. We did the 12k and I brought my own water which turned out to be a good thing because there were not many water stations along the way. The course is totally flat with the exception of the hill before Fort Mason. The $50 price does include a free beer/hard cider at the end of the race. I will probably do this race again next year and would recommend it to anyone who wants to do a run in SF! read more

You won't find any Kalenjin Kenyans here as it is a true race for locals. Keifer Sutherland and Gavy was said to be here although I didn't see them. It starts late enough (9am) so that you don't have to wake up at the crack of dawn to run. I only wish there a change from the concrete course. read more

Really good race!! There were plenty of portapotty's at the start and finish line, and water at the start and finish line and 2 water stops along the race. They offered a 5k and 12k this year, which is nice cause I really like a 12k distance. Another great offer was the free shuttles from Crissy fields to the embarcadero that was very quick. I only waited in the line for 5 minutes. Good race with a beautiful course!! read more

Bridge to Bridge Run - Free concert at finish line - Races & Competitions Near Me - San Francisco, California

I had the privilege of running the 12k portion of B2B yesterday. Things started out a bit rough with the fact that I did not receive my bib and had to travel four hours to get it before four the day before. That is my only complaint! The race started exactly on time and there were many many volunteers throughout the course. Some on bikes, some at intersections or turns and some at hydration areas. There were plenty of porta potties if you needed one along the path, and I saw many EMT's as well. The views were incredible, the weather couldn't have been better and the after party was fun. Flat course with one pretty decent hill by Fort Mason around 2.3 miles in. Loved seeing many in wheelchairs participating as well Great way to see the city in a different perspective, it was quiet and serene. read more
