Firehouse 135 - Denny "guarding" my office :)

    Firehouse 135

I'm in town for two weeks to visit family and my mom's dining room will not cut it as the backdrop…read morefor my WFH meetings. Additionally her internet is spotty and there's too many distractions so I was interested to find this gem only 2 miles away. The surroundings may be a little sketch, but the building is secured and the exterior is well kept so I felt safe. It's an old converted firehouse so the structure is different than a new build. It reminds me more of a schoolhouse. I was ushered in by Carter (not sure of title but he's the main guy). The first floor appears to be occupied by an environment organization (although I'm not 100% on that). There are young professionals staffing those desks. The place also has a fridge available for storing lunch. Haven't used it yet but I'll update when I do. On the second floor is a conference room, multi-stall bathroom and a handful of offices with doors. My office had a desk, small table, lamp, trash and two chairs. There were also two closets but I didn't use them. There's dependable WiFi, electricity and it's quiet, so I was set. The most fun part was there's another professional working next door who brings his sweet basset hound, Denny, to the office. Denny hung out with me for a bit which was fun. All in all, the space provided what I needed and I'll definitely be back.

The team at Felner Corporation is professional and has the associations best interest at heart. Becoming involved in my association felt like a part time job which I truly didn't understand. Nice people but poor management, is a generous review. Our 1 year experience was among the worst…read moreour complex has experienced in 40 years. There was a serous lack of oversight, follow-up, and basic checks and balances. We discovered numerous issues, examples; no collection efforts were being made on delinquent units, late fees weren't being charged, invoices were paid without required Board approval, some payments were duplicated or incorrect or work was not properly completed so vendor should not have been paid, owner bill-backs weren't being done/processed so when Felner provided a budget, they recommended a significant increase in condo fees. Knowing this was wrong, we dug into the expenses and discovered units were not being billed back along with various other issues. Felner also paid themselves from Association funds without the required Board approvals. Repairs went unaddressed for months, including serious issues, while unit owners often received no response to emails. Maintenance contracts and reported problems were not consistently monitored or addressed. Ultimately the Board had to step in repeatedly to identify the problems, inform Felner of the problems and push to have these and other problems corrected. Very disappointing experience. We are no longer with this company, yet we are still experiencing problems; they continue to send invoices to Unit Owners for condo fees as one. I strongly recommend that anyone using this company, look closely at all of this for your Association.
