Turning left out is a little bit of a challenge - cars intermittently come from both directions. The library itself looks like it was built in the 70s, with a spacious entryway that hadn't quite realized it's potential. The interior is divided into adult, teen, and children. The children's section is particularly adorable with the endcaps painted to look like a rainbow. The library has multiple areas to study and read in the teen and adult section, and is well lit. The librarians at the reference desk were particularly friendly and informative, and welcoming visitors back to their library. Stopping in was a great experience!

It houses this large array of published and unpublished books and papers, photographs and maps, among other materials, recording over three hundred years of Norwalk history. Ms. Bullen was very helpful in helping me tract down ancestry information and even found a rare photo for me.

He wants to start learning new recipes from the Dutch side of the family. He has his Spanish roots down, but we want him to experience the best of both worlds, especially when it comes to cuisine. I was going to get a library card for myself while I was there but my visit ended without one. While we were looking through the shelves of books, I noticed a loud deep voice talking the entire half hour that I was there. I thought it was someone else visiting the library and couldn't understand why the librarians weren't kicking them out. When I went to say something about it, I noticed it was a library staffer doing all the talking. A woman with long dark hair - I thought it was a man before I saw her because she had a deep voice. I left without signing up for my card or taking recipe books out, because I couldn't hear my own thoughts over her talking. To add insult to injury, my grandson who struggles with anxiety was becoming stressed from this loud woman's incessant talking. I tried moving us to other parts of the library to calm him down, but we could hear her everywhere. I went back yesterday at lunchtime hoping for it to be quieter without my grandson this time. The deep voice talker wasn't there, but this time there was a different dark haired woman with tatoos and two blonde women having a party at the desk. That's what I think they were doing because of their loud cackling and laughing. I left again without signing up for a library card and I won't be back again. It's sad that there aren't peaceful places in the community anymore where I can bring my grandson and enjoy myself, a book and each other's company in a safe and quiet environment. I thought the library was that one place for us.

Lots of interesting nooks and crannies to explore, local historic artifacts, paintings, etc. Also, nice selection of DVD's to borrow, and fun activities for babies and toddlers during the week. If you are local, this is a great place to stop during a walk up Main St. or to bring some books or laptop for study.

She went above and beyond the call of duty in helping me to find exactly what I needed and and did it in a cheerful and friendly way. She tracked down the book I wanted, and then scanned maps within it. She next found an additional resource I was unaware of, and made photocopies of its content. As a result, I had an excellent experience at Newtown's beautiful library and came away extremely happy. Fantastic job, Shari!

The Oxford Public Library is absolutely delightful! First, the librarians are so welcoming to…read morevisitors. I was blown away by how excited they were to show off their library and discuss it. Secondly, it was obviously decorated with love and excitement in their job. The displays are adorable (for kids) and calming (for adults). Third, the building is new and feels spacious as you browse around or look for a place to read (including their outdoor patio). The parking lot also has plenty of room for visiting cars.

It has four levels, with the ground one dedicated to an ongoing book sale at reasonable prices. The exterior has a reading garden in the back, with covered benches for enjoying a book and some hidden art in the leaves. I wish I lived closer to this library!
