Instead, it felt like I paid full meal prices for a tiny appetizer. The alcoholic drinks were another disappointment. The entire selection was wine-based, yet they're presented as cocktails. To make matters worse, the drinks come in aluminum cans that are opened and poured into clear plastic cups. This is an outdoor market, so naturally it's hot outside. Within about 15 minutes, the drink was warm and noticeably watered down from melting ice. For what they're charging, I expected something that would actually stay enjoyable for more than a few minutes. And then there was the customer service. The woman at the register took my payment, didn't give me everything I ordered, and then walked away when I tried to get her attention. I had to wave down another employee just to get what I had already paid for. When you're charging premium prices, the food, drinks, and service should actually feel worth the money. Unfortunately, none of them did. The only positive thing I can say is that the actual market itself is very nice and appealing to walk through. They have a good variety of produce, merchandise, and other vendors, and the atmosphere is pleasant. Unfortunately, the food and drink experience didn't live up to the market itself. The food, drinks, and customer service left a lot to be desired. With the prices being as high as they are, I expected a much better experience. The market may be worth visiting to browse, but I would personally skip the food and drinks.

They sell all kinds of fresh produce as well as some meat and eggs. The strawberry fields are PACKED with berries -- beautiful and delicious. Plus, on both occasions we visited we were basically the only people there so it was easy to socially distance. This place doesn't have the bells and whistles of the larger farms with activities for kids and what not, but it's perfect if you're not looking for a crowded environment. Plus, it's reasonably priced. The strawberries are $2 per pound and a bucket holds about 5 pounds when completely full. They are CASH ONLY so do make sure you have some on hand when you go. From early May through November, the Suffolk Farmers' Market (SFM) provides a plethora for our senses. Approximately three years ago the SFM started a visitor center that has some nice features, including a pavilion and ceiling fans. Here are key features: -local produce -baked goods -artisan crafts (e.g., jewelry, bags, wood, etc.) -dog biscuits -live music -plants -petting zoo -grass-fed meat and eggs The SFM is open Wednesdays (3 p.m. - 6 p.m.) and Saturdays (9 a.m. - 1 p.m.); personally, I would recommend going on Saturdays as the selections on Wednesdays can be sparse. It is not the biggest market around; but, more so, it's about the community and supporting local businesses. Check it out!

The other reviews say cash only - but they did have a square card reader so you can pay with card. It's was $20 dollars for a bucket & pick your own strawberries. This patch was very spacious so even though there were quite a few other pickers, it felt like you were on your own. The strawberry photo cutouts were an adorable added bonus. Will definitely be back again & especially for pumpkins.

They update the fb almost every day on how the crop is looking, the berries are wonderfully sweet and very well maintained. There are little signs to poke your head through to make you look like a strawberry person- and the people who run is are small town honest people. I only had a credit card this one time, so they told me (and I saw them do this to multiple people too!) to just take the berries and come back eventually when I had cash. I know it's the honor system but it was so nice to be treated like a human vs customer. These are good people, good berries and good picking

Three ships coffee roll up in their awesome coffee machine (don't know what I mean? You should be here then!) and Doughminion Donuts brings the treats for your sugary needs, soon to close their doors in Selden Market, but they'll be here right through til September. Then there's Fayton Farms artisan cheeses offering up some finely crafted small batch cheese from Mechanicsville but locally sourced milk, and Hampton Roads Winery coming through with the vino offering a taste of their wines for $1, and my personal favorite The Flower Lady, Robin Lindsey from Portsmouth along with her heeler pup Reno - bringing fresh free range chicken and duck eggs along with locally grown flowers. The prices are about the same as any other farmers market. They were super friendly and told gave me the lay of the land and what was fresh. Yup...this is going to be a regular stop for me.
