I was suffering from severe back sprain to due a strained and overworked back from cross-fit. I went to see three other chiropractors in addition to Dr. Smith. I ended up going back to Dr. Smith for multiple reasons: a fair cost, honesty and integrity, and sterling recommendations from Google. It turns out I made a great choice. When I saw Dr. Smith the first time, I told him about the horror stories that I endured with my first chiropractor - I spent $85 for a consultation and also paid for a follow up to look at my X-rays that were questionable. The chiropractor wanted me to commit to a lengthy and expensive plan for over a thousand dollars. From my first visit, Dr. Smith just laughed and shook his head. He was open and honest with his prices. He explained why a long treatment plan is never necessary or how chiropractors should be conducting their practice. After seeing four chiropractors, I finally decided to stick with Dr. Smith, and we got started. I explained to him my back from doing clean jerks and the tension in my neck from doing handstands. On a whim, I decided to bring up the issue of the intermittent ringing in my ears that occurred once every one or two weeks. In the first session, he adjusted my back and my neck. After that first session, I have never had ringing in my ears up to this date (a month later). It took a bit longer for my back to heal, but I don't believe it was to any fault on him. After our fourth session, my back finally mostly healed. He's honest about his prices, doesn't overcharge, and even gave me a few freebies. He would poke fun at me periodically, stating that the visit of the day would be $450 dollars or the X-rays would be $300, so be ready for some humor. However, he could care less about the money. He's a doctor that genuinely cares about the health of his patients. Thank you Dr. Smith!

That part I do not agree with. The office mgr tried to enforce a credit line to cover this equipment after I made it clear I have no income and can not afford it. I tried to agree since they insisted I needed it, but it turns out I can find similar equipment for thousands less online that does the same thing just not as expensive. They could not justify why I had to have their equipment and if it really mattered who I bought it from. A line of credit was opened in my name for 3K to cover said equipment, of which I returned after minimal use and expressed I felt the equipment was faulty and the other was too painful to use; they still insisted I kept the equipment. I made it clear I couldn't afford it or be able to pay the line of credit down any time soon, and they still enforced it upon me. I've disputed this line of credit 3 or 4 times now. It's been nothing but a headache and unnecessary stress to someone whose health is hanging by a thread. I appreciate the Dr's heart and care, but the office manager can be quite rude and moody when she doesn't get her way, which is not okay or professional. I enjoyed working with the others, but it is not legal or ethical to enforce equipment on people and care that isn't affordable. If you really want to help people then why are you over charging for services and equipment?! I had to move out of state for many reasons, but fighting this line of credit they knew I couldn't afford or pay down due to being unemployed and disabled, but here I am still fighting with Care Credit and others to get my credit fixed; this dropped it 80 points btw. I've been building my credit for years and this one transaction destroyed it in one day. DO NOT let them force you into anything you can not afford! They should work with everyone despite income levels and not overcharge for equipment and services, no matter how much they help you, this is not okay. The Dr did confirm the diagnosis I've been seeking for 8 years and getting nowhere with and I'm very thankful for that! It's just the billing side and the manager's attitude that added unnecessary stress that's just uncalled for. Especially knowing your patient is slowly dying inside from severe nerve damage and unemployed due to medical conditions, why should they also have to deal with coming up with thousands of dollars for medical treatment? This is where I disagree with not only this office but anyone in the medical field who does the same.

I also carry my stress in my shoulders and have two very boisterous Dobermans who occasionally include me in their wrestling antics. I react differently now when 160 pounds of dogs include me in their play than I did two decades ago. I figured this pain and discomfort was something that was going to be permanently present. I was so wrong. I saw the advertisement for By Design Chiropractic on social media and figured, "Why not?" I submitted my name and was contacted the next day. When I showed up for my first appointment, Julie greeted me as if we were old friends. (Seriously, I wish I was that excited about my job). She is super nice, helpful, and really organized. If more people were as nice as Julie, this would be a really amazing world. And, she is not fake nice - she is legit kind. Dr. Martinez met with me and took some x-rays. Once they were ready, he walked me through the issues in my back. Nothing was a surprise, but it was really interesting to see how I "look" underneath my skin. It makes sense why my back and neck hurt. The first appointment was a bit scary for me (I had never been to a chiropractor), but Dr. Martinez is really good at calming the nerves, explains what he is doing before he does it, and moves quickly (so there is no time to be anxious). I felt better after the first adjustment. We came up with a plan, and the plan is working! I have actually slept through the night without pain (something that has not happened in a decade) for several nights. I can move around, exercise, and live my daily life without cringing.
