On February 2023 I submitted an inquiry at Realtor.com looking for information on a property at a…read morebuilding in Mystic, CT. Within minutes a young lady from Garden Realty was calling looking to find out additional details on our wants and needs. A few minutes later that day, I received an email from Greg Hanner with additional information on the property, the area and an introductory video of himself, his realty company and services. Later that evening, Greg called me to introduce himself already informed on the details from my conversation with his assistant. He shared his background and extensive experience on the southeastern part of CT (2022 and now for 2023 the #1 Agent of the Year for CT New London County). I told him that we were early in our search and that we weren't even sure if we were ready to buy any properties. However, if we found the right place at the right price, we would consider it. Greg was very professional and pleasant, and even with this low-level interest, he was willing to assist us in our search. Over the next few days, he shared a series of property options, his own personal experiences with other buyers, and scheduled a viewing on the original property we had inquired on. Over the next few weeks, Greg facilitated several showings, and was present at each one, very engaged, clearly informed and knowledgeable. It was also very apparent that Greg had plenty of experience in the area, as each property we saw hit many of the must-haves we were looking for. He pointed out where a compromise would be necessary along with pros and cons, at times highlighting features we would not have considered. Finally, it seemed as if Greg knew everyone as we connected with the realtors on the seller's side and others. We requested a showing at another unit in the Mystic building we liked. The unit had a renter and getting in for a viewing required some negotiating. Greg made the necessary arrangements and we there we found our dream unit! Greg helped us come up with the best and fairest offer which after some waiting (and back and forth with Greg) was accepted. Greg presented us with a bank for financing with whom he had plenty of experience and who were best suited for the area. Greg scheduled the property inspection with a local home inspection team he had worked with in the past. Greg was there throughout, asking questions, ensuring that we understood where there were areas of opportunity. From the inspection, there were a number of areas where we would need addressed at some point, so Greg negotiated a credit to the purchase price as to not disrupt the tenant to address some cosmetic issues. Overall, our experience with Greg was very positive. His knowledge of the local market, his experience as seasoned realtor, his pleasant demeanor, with and realistic expectations were exactly what we needed. The first showing she could not be bothered to be there. She did not bother to put a lock box on my home. She told me to leave and leave the doors unlocked. There have been numerous robberies in my town lately, I was incredibly upset to do so. I then called her that evening excited to receive the showing feedback at 7:57 pm after dental surgery and and she said it's too late in the evening and she would call me tomorrow. I fired her that night, and took my house off the market. If I EVER sell it will be on FOR SALE BY OWNER. They also made me keep their contract for 1 year! After I fired her after 2 weeks.

We scheduled to look at 3 different lake houses as we live almost 2 hours away. I requested a…read morereturn call via the website and was called back almost immediately by an agent. All phone conversations were professional, and my questions were answered. One of the homes we wanted to look at went off the market, so I added another one the day before we were supposed to go and look. Upon getting to the area, we drove around to see what was around and look at the houses. We were meeting at the first house so went a little early and looked around. I then received a call from the agent who said she was not going to try and make it because of the road being rough and hilly, this through me off as she asked specifically to meet there as it was the easiest to get to, and I came to inspect the houses. So needless to say we continued to look around and I called her when we were done and met her at the next street. Upon getting to that house there was no parking and no way to get into the driveway because it was locked by a gate which we did not have the key for. We had to park in someone elses driveway as the street is only one lane. In looking at that house our questions were answered but the agent herself did not do much of the showing of the home rather stayed around the living room/dining area as we looked around. There was some water damage which the only explanation was it was probably fixed. We asked about the driveway situation which was sort of explained, however we then asked a neighbor and his explanation was different. So that made us a litte wary. The next house was two over from the previous house, however the agent "lost" the code to get in, and did not want to drive around to the access road to that house, and could not locate the access code, although the house is listed through William Raveis Mystic Office (her office). She said we were welcomed to go and look around the outside of the house, and she went back to her car, as should said she was not going to walk over to the house. The entire experience was not a good one. We drove two hours to go look at these houses as we are extremely interested in getting a lake home. However the agent was less than helpful with two of the houses and with the one house she did come and look at with us, didn't try to sell it to us, rather just sat around and when we had a question answered it. She was an older woman, and knowing that these homes are in the woods, on hilly properties where we would need someone to show us and be willing to actually come to the property they should have requested someone else. We were less than impressed with the agent and the company overall and will not be using them going forward.
