It was an absolute pleasure to work with Tom & April. They were incredibly personable, extremely thorough and went above and beyond when it came to explaining not only how the systems of the home worked (well, septic, heating system, water system ect) how to maintenance them, how to maximize the longevity of your systems and gave us some pretty awesome and honest recommendations on where we can order supplies and get maintenance done. Tom and April are in the business to make the inspection process of buying or selling a home a breeze. We ran into some issues with the septic and Tom was able to get on the phone and make accommodations for us to get the process started to have someone come out and take a look. I have never worked with someone so thorough. Tom and April aren't here to make an extra buck or profit. They are just genuine people who genuinely love the business they're in and want to see people do well. They are extremely kind hearted people. We were there for the inspection and found them to be an absolute pleasure to deal with. They were professional and thorough. They answered every question we had and went the extra mile to make sure we understood everything about the house. They labeled several important parts of the house including the Watermain shut off and the gas shut off So it was more than an inspection it was an education! Tom and April were very thorough in their inspection, and Tom took the time to explain how certain home systems work--like the boiler and the oil tank (ones that we don't have where we're moving from). We appreciated that the report included videos of certain items explaining why they needed to be fixed. Tom also offered to come back out for free once we're moved in, in order to help us learn how to take care of the systems we're not as familiar with. My only feedback for Tom would be to be mindful of addressing both homeowners equally. Once my husband joined by phone, most of the discussion was directed to him rather than to both of us. Since I was the one who scheduled the inspection and we share home responsibilities, it would be helpful if information were presented to both parties equally. In terms of the inspection report itself, all of the information was clearly presented and covered all the things mentioned while I was present, plus a few minor things (maintenance issues, not major defects) that we didn't discuss at the time. Other inspection reports we've had in the past included severity (e.g., major defect, minor defect, maintenance issue), which was nice--but I'm not sure if that's standard or not. The 1 star is a gift. He inspected my first home purchase. 5 months in, I notice the 275 gallon oil tank in the basement is leaking. Those leaks don't happen overnight. They take years to be visable. He missed it. He missed the white garments stained with brown feces wrapped around a pipe (under the bathroom), in the basement ceiling. Missed that the front door didn't lock. Missed a mouse infestation. Missed the flooding that occurs in the basement any time it rains. Missed the porch sliding off of the house. But when He Refused to help when we had no heat, I decided to sue him. His inspection report CLEARLY shows he never even looked at that tank. Only the fill pipe outside. Once I mentioned it to the local oil delivery companies, they blacklisted me. They refused to deliver. We went all winter without heat and had to use space heaters resulting in a $650 electric bill every month. I have rheumatoid arthritis and I was sludging through snow to pour 5 gallons of Diesal in the pipe outside, once a day, just to keep the heat on 45 so the pipes wouldn't freeze. Did he care? Nope. I begged him to send someone to look at it. Crickets. Once I replaced the heating system, ($11K) thanks to Energize CT, I tried to sue him in small claims and it was thrown out because His contract says you can't sue him. (Nice!) It Says you must go through arbitration. Well, arbitration costs $2500.00 to start. No wonder! No normal person can afford that after they've had to fix all of his mistakes. This guy is such a bad person deep down that he even refused to send someone out and put me on a payment schedule. I was desperate. "The tank wasn't leaking, be a responsible homeowner and fix it yourself". I have 7 rescue animals here, and me. We were all huddled in one room all winter last year, with electric blankets and a space heater. All because he sucks at his job AND couldn't just be a decent human being. Don't use this company if you want peace of mind, A "SOUND HOME", to have any recourse WHEN he screws up and lies about it, or a THOROUGH INSPECTION. read more

Tom and April were excellent for our recent inspection of a home from 1747. Tom took the time to educate and help us understand the functionality of a home from the septic system to making sure we grasp where light switch locations were. The biggest purchase of our life and he really helped us grasp the things we need to look out for. I was nervous about having such an old home inspected and wanted someone who had a lot of experience with antique homes and I am so glad I found Tom. I highly recommend his videos as well before he comes out - they go into great detail and can also prepare you for your inspection. An example being not having the septic pumped prior to inspection which is actually what septic companies require - he goes through his rationale in the video! Plus he has some great educational materials he gives at the inspection. The home we purchased was a short sale, so of course we sat on it for 6 months waiting approval, then had 2 weeks to obtain inspections, appraisals, and close. I had interviewed several inspectors, and selected Tom due to the time he took to explain the type of inspections he did. Once hired, he was prompt, very professional, and quite thorough. I am an agent in the Hartford area. I am representing clients purchasing a historic home constructed in 1768. Tom came highly recommended for inspecting antique homes, and he did not disappoint. This home was in excellent condition for its age but still had many unusual quirks that Tom was able to explain and document well in his inspection report. This was especially important as the buyers could not be present, so they had to make decisions based on my input and the report. Tom was also able to speak with them after the inspection which was very helpful. Tom Morgan was on the list of preferred home inspectors by my real estate agent as we were selling our deceased father's property...and needed to do it in a hurry. Tom, instead of providing the inspection report, said he'd like to buy the house for cash (cutting out the real estate agent who recommended him - highly unethical) and flip it himself. He said we would close within a week. I don't know how he managed to manipulate my siblings in the expert way he did, but before we knew it, months had passed, winter was closing in, and Tom could not even provide proof of funds. He had every excuse in the book, crashed computer, dead relative, health issues, etc. At that point, we pulled the plug on Tom and had to take a HUGE loss on the house because we had to sell before winter, as the house had electric heat and other issues. We were looking at a foreclosed condo as an investment. The unit was empty and the utilities were off. Tom Morgan did a top to bottom review of the unit and found many issues that might easily go unnoticed. For example, the circuit breaker for the electric dryer was UNDERSIZED! Yikes. The suspended deck was not properly attached to the building - look out below! The finished report was complete with details including photo's and was multiple pages long. Tom explained his findings in a clear and precise way - any layperson could understand. Tom was on time with the inspection meeting our tight schedule for results.
