The Brig o' Doon is a beautiful place. It's a hotel, wedding venue and a restaurant.
We came here for lunch upon recommendation from our friends (Scottish) and family (British) who all told us it was a must-see, and we were not let down in the slightest.
We actually came out of our way to come here, but it was worth it.
We had lunch here, and we greeted by the Maître d who was fully adorned in tartan. In fact, the whole house is adorned in tartan from the carpet to the curtains. This might be the most Scottish place in Scotland. :)
The house sits on five acres and has stunning gardens reaching down to the banks of the River Doon. They host many weddings here. Definitely make sure to take a stroll through the grounds.
The food here was very good as well and very Scottish. We ordered the haggis appetizer to share and two entrees which were also excellent. The service was also very friendly.
Most interesting, while we were leaving, a wedding party came in fully decked out in tartan. It was pretty amazing and very charming.
If you want a quintessential Scottish experience, definitely make sure to come here. read more
