This place is a gem obviously well known to the locals in a nice part of Ayr. Had booked in to the Horizons hotel a bit further along the front, but when we arrived the rooms were grubby, small and not worth £150 for two nights in a family room. Went on the hunt for something better and happened upon The Chestnuts Hotel. A bit more expensive at £180 for two nights b&b for 2 adults and 2 kids, but what a difference. This is a family run hotel and all staff are friendly, courteous and efficient. Nothing is too much of a bother and the place is immaculate. We are not ones for eating in hotels as we like to see a bit if the area but this place is so good there's no need to go elsewhere. It's handy for all decent attractions in Ayr and a short walk from the beach. Even if you don't stay here, pop in for a beer (real ale too!) or some food as its the business. You won't be disappointed. read more
