The rooms were spacious and clean, with attractive furnishings of tables, dresser, chairs and bed. We did not try the pool-like bathtub (next to shutters that open to the main room and TV!) but the shower was magnificent! Towels and ROBES were fluffy and floral-smelling. Toilet flush was awesome, lol. Height of counter was thoughtfully higher-than usual and it had room for personal effects. The bed was not super-comfortable but acceptable. It was soft over hard, and my sister felt pressure points. The chairs sunk in the middle, but we weren't in them long. The gas fireplace was lovely!! And both windows open for fresh air, which I find very important. The place was very quiet and we only encountered other guests a few minutes here and there. The grounds are Gorgeous with grasses, roses, huge lavender plants. We loved sitting in the metal patio furniture with umbrellas, by the marina, eating our custom breakfasts! So relaxing and decadent. Kat, our breakfast waitress, was A+ and very pleasant. We all liked the food too. We did walk to local restaurants from here, plus easily visited Mystic by car. We did walk the nearby 1mi bayside trail to the Hole-in-the-Wall beach. It was a bit too far unless you can enjoy ~3mi roundtrip from Inn to beach. Our favorite restaurants were 374 Kitchen & Cocktail, followed by Constantine's (deck). We did not care for Flanders which was crowded and noisy, plus several additional unpleasant features! Now for the gritty: For unknown reason, the Inn has very cheap toiletpaper! And there is no place to lay clothes in the bathroom except in a drawer. There is no fridge in the room - just an icebucket with a fridge and ice in the community areas. They provide 2 bottles of water at the start of your stay...but you can get another at breakfast. Coffee is in carafes in the morning, but otherwise from Keurigs in the community room. You may freely wear the robes - just place them with your dirty towels at end of stay. To get clean towels, place your used ones outside your door! Fresh ones will magically appear in a plastic bag outside the door. They were not offering the pontoon rides when we were there in early June. I was disappointed and felt they should post the limitations. They do have cookies plus wine/cheese/grapes at certain times. These items are in the main Inn, where there are two tiny closets with staff in them. We were pretty comfortable going in and out the business area. Kat was the most welcoming, smiling when we cut through the kitchen each morning. We splurged to stay here for 70th BD celebrations. All four of us loved the Inn and had fun days in Niantic and Mystic.

The hosts Jodi and Scott are lovely, welcoming people who make sure their guests truly enjoy their stay. Breakfast was served in their elegant dining room or on their beautiful outside patio. A full country breakfast waited for us every morning. Fresh fruit, homemade muffins, and delicious meals like sausage, potato strata and raspberry drizzled French toast were on the menu the days that we stayed. Once again the attention to detail was incredible. Meals were beautifully presented , and the tables were set with fresh summer flowers. The grounds were also well kept, and the gardens and pond area were so relaxing to stroll through or stop and relax for awhile in an outdoor chair. You don't find out until you've gone through the entire booking process, and only then will you find out if you happen to read through your entire confirmation. Also, the policy isn't clear - it just says they can't accommodate children because they don't have additional beds? I travel with my six year old and we usually share a bed, so I thought maybe they would make an exception for us. When I tried to call for clarification, the phone just rings and rings - no one even answers. I finally had to call the Residence Inn and the front desk girl told me there definitely weren't kids allowed in the mansion - but beyond that, they didn't handle the bookings and that I'd have to contact booking.com to try to cancel. Thank goodness I happened to notice before we actually went to the location. I don't have a problem with the policy - I have a problem with it not being stated ANYWHERE until after they have your credit card number. Imagine if we'd shown up and had nowhere to go? Thumbs down. Also, I won't mention what I do for a living, but given this mansions "haunted" reputation, I will say they just missed out on a huge opportunity for exposure.

The bathroom on the other hand, had 3 lights, which was helpful. Bed was comfortable and complementary breakfast was also a bonus.

On check-in, we met Paul, who gave us plenty of good tips for what to do and see and where to eat in the area. He didn't steer us wrong. The hotel is located a convenient distance from most of the major attractions in Mystic and the surrounding areas. They even have bicycles you can borrow to ride into town. They also have a tremendous indoor swimming pool, a real lap-size pool, which you typically don't find in a hotel. Breakfast is served to your door. This isn't room service; it's the included continental breakfast, which you call or text for starting at 8 AM. Breakfast delivery was fast, and they will also bring refills if you call or text again and ask. It was very convenient not to have to get all dressed early in the morning and traipse across to another building just to eat. The room was clean, and thankfully there was absolutely no evidence at all of bedbugs. Now for the stuff we weren't so happy with. First of all, the room was noisy. Really noisy. We were located on the second floor, and we could hear noise coming in from the driveway and parking lot all night long. Our room also faced the train, which we could see from our window and which ran all night long. We could also easily hear our neighbors speaking in their room. In short, the rooms need a serious upgrade in soundproofing. Our stay was at the beginning of October, and nights were chilly. There was a fireplace in our room, but it wasn't working. When we asked about getting it turned on, the desk clerk said that all the fireplaces were in the process of being turned on for the colder months, and she would send someone over to turn ours on. Well, no one ever came, and our fireplace never worked during our four night stay. It was very disappointing because it would have been a nice way to take the chill off the air and to provide some romantic ambience. The room also could have really used a mini fridge, even a tiny one, just to hold leftovers from meals out. We had to use insulated grocery shopping bags filled with ice to keep drinks and leftovers cold. Don't expect much of anything from the television. It was the size of a small computer monitor, so watching it from across the room in bed really wasn't great. There is also an extremely limited selection of channels. If you want to watch TV, you would do better bringing a device and watching your own streaming services that way. Finally, the rooms are not secure from the outside. At least ours wasn't. We stayed in one of the rooms that was subdivided from a larger house. There was an outside door that led directly to a stairway to the second floor, where there were two doors: one for our room and the other for a separate room. The outside door had no lock at all and no auto-close mechanism. On two of the five days we stayed there, we returned to the room to find the outside door standing wide open. Our room itself only had a simple lock on the door handle. It was the kind of lock that you put on a bedroom door in a private home, not as the sole lock keeping strangers out of your hotel room. If I had been staying there as a woman alone, I definitely would not have felt safe. Despite the drawbacks, we would stay again for the positives.

So happy that he found this hotel. When we checked out and were about three hours away from the hotel, we realized we left my daughter's favorite blanket in the room. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but this was a huge disaster! I called the office and Al said that he would go look for it, he called me back, found the blanket and actually took time out of his life to mail it to our house. So thankful for him and the staff at the hotel. They went above and beyond anything they had to do. I would highly recommend this cute hotel on the beach and the staff.
