My work was having a Native Chief come in and a customary gift is ceremonial tobacco. My boss told me the day before he was coming. Yikes! He sent me a photo of leaf tobacco, but it's impossible to get on such short notice; all that's available is all natural rolling tobacco. Luckily, when I called Brigham & More, they knew exactly what I was talking about. They had it in stock. Bonus! I headed down to their store and it's beautiful. Humidor room for cigars and fancy pipes on the walls. A little pricier than my boss expected, but he doesn't smoke either, so we're oblivious to tobacco prices. Purchased what I needed and they put it in a tin for me as I felt handing a Native Chief a sandwich bag of tobacco was a little tacky. Very knowledgeable staff! Thanks for your help! read more

I have a Writer's Tears whiskey and cigar ritual which only happens when I have a new physical book published. Presenting as somewhere between a beach bum and a homeless dude in shorts, a t-shirt, and a backwards ball cap, I asked if I could come in. I was welcomed by a really nice guy who hooked me up with some outstanding cigars. The Nicaraguan house-blend is shockingly good, and I won't tell you how inexpensive they are because they really need to raise their prices. I've had $50.00 cigars which didn't taste or burn as well. Went here after a bad experience at a cigar shop in Oshawa. While parking is a bit of a pain, it is a GREAT store! I went in twice on two separate occasions and got the same excellent service from three different employees. I purchased a Millennium humidor for me and a Solstice for a friend. I felt the price for the humidor was quite good as it comes with many extras. The staff are friendly and will treat you with respect even if you don't know anything about cigars (I am not expert but I often play dumb just to see how I will be treated). They even do the initial seasoning for you to get your humidor ready for your cigars! They will not let you into their humidor alone but they will not make you feel like you are being monitored while you are in there (as the unnamed shop in Oshawa did). The only thing I would suggest is that you check over your humidor. On one the lock cover was loose and the other, the glue on one of the shelves came loose when I wiped it down a second time (it is a poor fit in the groove). These are not high end humidors (and they are made in China) so you cannot expect them to be perfect. Hence the suggestion to check them over. In fairness to the store I have not raised the issue with them but I will likely take them down the next time I am in Toronto to see how they respond. Just adding something here as I couldn't remember the name of the first employee I dealt with. Saw it on an older review. Tyler is a very pleasant young man. A little bit chatty but that is only because he loves cigars and talking about them. You certainly can't hold that against a cigar shop employee! read more

As someone just starting the pipe-smoking hobby, I'm sensitive to customer service. I like the person behind the counter to not make me feel dumb for not knowing the inns and outs of pipe smoking and risk turning me off. This was not the case, and although the clerk told me he was in to cigars and not pipes, he was still very knowledgeable, helpful, and above all friendly and patient with my questions. I've been to a few other tobacconists, so far, Thomas Hinds and Casablanca, and though they were fine, Brigham and More far surpassed my previous experiences. Selection (for Canada, at least) seems good, and the stock seems fresh. Would go on a regular basis if they were not across town, but will visit again. read more

Amazing shop! Came in to get some Romeo and Juliet (preferred brand) and left with so many other great recommendations that I've tried and loved! The staff are so friendly (and cute!). They're very knowledgeable about the products and are immediately available to help. The store provides a warm and friendly environment where you can relax and feel as of you're smoking with friends in the comfort of your own home. They have a seasonal patio which I took advantage of in the summer. It was beautiful. They've made a regular customer out of me! read more

The guys at Brigham and More keep their humidor dialled. It's not uncommon to find boxes with beautiful plume, many of which are a couple of years old. The selection, you can tell, is hand picked. My only criticism is that I'd like to see more from Cuba. While I'd like to buy all of my cigars from these guys, I have to go elsewhere to get more obscure brands like Diplomaticos, El Rey, La Gloria. Prices are on par with the other shops in Toronto. Staff are knowledgable, friendly, and easy going. The back patio is a great spot, and offers good protection on windy days. Tip: Try the Matilde brand. Brigham and More is the exclusive distributor in Toronto, and these are some mighty fine non-Cuban cigars! They've got a small stash of Trinidad Coloniales from 2006, and have had some really sweet boxes of Bolivar Petite Coronas recently. read more
