Yay! Clean chimney and fireplace! It's probably been over 20 years since our chimney's been given a good 'ol sweep. As the rainy and cold season is upon us, we thought we'd give the fireplace a spin but know we desperately needed a clean. Ron was quick to respond, on time, extremely friendly and did a fantastic job! What more can you ask for? Oh, and he loved on my puppy, even while she was bothering him for attention while working :) I find workers who come through our house are usually stand off-ish and not very friendly. Ron was seriously the opposite and THAT is the person you want and trust to enter/work on your home! Great price for the quality of work and I know who to call any time we need our chimney swept. He even gave so much insight on maintaining it. Although we had a request for him to look at something else in our home (which was completely out of his field), he willingly looked and helped us as best he could! So sweet!! I first contacted Ron back in 2018 for an estimate after my husband and I moved in to our little rental house. He got back to me very quickly but, at the time, the service wasn't any emergency or anything and I actually forgot about it. Since we rent, and fireplaces in LA are not super essential and usually more of a nice treat from time to time, it just slipped my mind. Flash forward to the year that we all are in a hurry to forget and I was browsing Yelp again thinking it would be nice to finally get the fireplace checked out. We hired Ron to sweep our chimney since it had been 7 years since the last cleaning. 1. Showed up on time 2. Presentable and friendly 3. Honest. He quoted me a price over the phone but when he assessed the work he lowered the price to reflect our particular job. 4. He showed pre and post video of the work 5. As you can tell from all of the favorable Yelp reviews for window washers in general, and Bright On in particular, having your windows washed by a professional is a transformative experience. Ron provided an excellent cleaning service but overall provided excellent service with his friendly demeanor. He removed the screens form my window to wash them which caused me to realize, why do I need screens so I stored those in the garage. He also explained that the screens collect dirt & dust that then gets spattered messily onto the glass of the windows during the rare rainfall in Southern California. Ron pointed out how the energy of the space changed and I'd have to agree with him. There's a little guilt in having watched Ron circle the exterior and interior of my house deftly removing screens, hosing windows that have not been cleaned in 18 months, and squeegeeing them clean while I sit and do nothing. I mean, my bungalow is only one story, so for the three hours he spent meticulously cleaning my windows I thought, shouldn't that have been me out there doing that and not just once as a special treatment for my home but like every month? If I had a second story and lacked a ladder than I'd have an excuse. However, I had to look at myself in the mirror and say you are a man who will pay to have your windows professionally cleaned instead of doing a normal household chore. Nevertheless, as I looked at Ron's range of squeegees and technique, hiring him to clean my windows seems like the sensible thing to do. It likely would have taken me 6 hours even if I had all of the same equipment. Having your windows professionally cleaned is a little like cataract surgery. I have to let everyone know what a great experience I had today with Bright On. I asked Ron to come to my house to clean two of my three chimneys. He was exactly on time (even called to see if it was convenient for him to come early)-this never happens in LA! He arrived, extremely personable and eager to check out all 3 of my chimneys for the same flat rate. After inspecting all 3 -he told me that they all were already clean, safe to use and not in need of service. He certainly would have made a lot more money by cleaning them as I had hired him to do-but was extremely honest in explaining to me why they were in great shape and how the cleaning was unnecessary. And here is the kicker!-I told him that one of my fireplaces had smoked up the room once in the past several years-even though everything was in order. He suggested that we place four bricks under the log grate in the fireplace to lift it up a bit so smoke would go straight up instead of into the room, possibly on a windy day. With that he went on a walk with me through the neighborhood to find bricks at a nearby home remodel site -and then brought back the bricks and set it all up for me. All with smile on his face and a can-do spirit. Although I didn't end up getting my chimneys cleaned-I will have Ron back when I need to! I highly recommend him to all.
