Cakes, slices and scones are all homemade and wholesome but the best thing about Mockingbird Lounge is the 5 (yes 5!) rooms of second hand books and heaps of cosy corners to loose yourself in. Gorgeous coffee, and a magnificent slice of pear and ginger cake - yum! The breakfasts that were coming out looked devine, so I'm looking forward to trying that out too. Staff were friendly, and there is plenty of seating - so glad we left before the cyclists arrived though - *shudder* - nowhere is safe from them!!! We also did a bit of shopping next door in the little organic shop - it's only small, so the range isn't massive - but they do stock soap nuts, which I was very impressed with (they are nuts that you use instead of laundry powder - highly recommended!). I went with poached eggs and avocado on toast, eggs were cooked perfectly and the avocado mix was beautiful. I grabbed a Go Go goji juice which was delicious also. Friends chose the veggie fritter which was also given the thumbs up. Friendly staff and they were happy to help with your order and despite being busy, our orders came out within a reasonable time frame for a Saturday morning. I just wish I'd known about their reputation when I went there because I am quite partial to a good serve of Pad Thai.
