"Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible, and suddenly you are doing the…read moreimpossible." -Francis of Assisi Living Independence Network Company A.K.A. LINC is a local service agency that cares for people with disabilities, all levels, focusing on ability within their disability and helping them to be as independent as possible. My mother-in-law gets services through this agency and I help her with many of them. Linc is very helpful for families by learning available resources and support. This is the first review of the Boise, Idaho office. This is my 434th review. There are many different services that Linc provides and in three cities: Boise, Calwell, and Twin Falls. Some of the services they provide are: Advocacy: Call them if you're experiencing a problem in relation to how you live with your disability. Whether it's a landlord, employer, local business, and the such, Linc will help you by speaking on behalf of you, writing a letter for you, or acting for you. This is a very important part of social work and for people living with disabilities. Independence Living Services: The will help locate housing for you, train you to live independently: budgeting, renting an apartment, working with Health and Welfare and much more! Personal Care Services: They will help you hire, train, and pay employees to help you through the Medicaid program. Help can be cooking, cleaning, hygiene and other quality of life tasks. Transportation: They hell you apply for assistance with transportation such as medical taxi (Medicaid/Medicare pays), and discounted transportation such as taxi and bus passes. Medical equipment loans: That's right... if you need a wheelchair, power chair, crutches, CPAP machine, you can call Linc and they will help you with that. You can borrow these items for as long as you need. They also take donations of these items and many more if you ever hear about them or have some to discard. Lastly, The ramp and rail loan program. According to their website This program provides: Temporary loans of modular, portable, aluminum accessibility ramps for residences averaging 30-90 days. Only requires a fully-refundable deposit of $250 or $450, depending on size and configuration Ensures people with accessibility or mobility issues to maintain their independence and freedom. Even if you're having a family member come to visit that requires a ramp, you can borrow a rail free of charge, just put down the security deposit. Linc has been in the Treasure Valley for nearly 30 years. They have a vast amount of resources available and a database of other resources for yourself and your family. It's important to know what services are available out in the community. You never know who is going to need this knowledge. This review is going into a new "Community Resource" Yelp list which may help our community grow and overall help individuals help themselves move up Maslow's hierarchy toward self-actualization. As for my review-- I am going to post this same review on all three cities because it brings awareness and again, may help someone. The staff has always been friendly. I've dealt with the community nurse several times, they come to the participants home, and are always filled with both compassion and empathy. My brother in law is unable to walk long distances and his mobility scooter took a dump. He was unable to get a new mobility scooter due to lack of funding-- Linc provided him with a "loaner" which he can use for as long as he needs, and he once again has the independence and quality of life that we all deserve, thanks to Linc.

Todd Wilder (their Ramp Guru) has been on great support in getting me information on everything from Service Dogs to Scooters to Phone Apps that make the ph more accessible for visual & other impairments. I know they can also assist in work accommodations & housing accommodations- you need anything related to being Differently Abled- call LINC!

We toured eight different facilities in Boise and the Garden Plaza of Valley View was by far their favorite. We actually didn't have an appointment and just stopped in to see if we might be able to talk to someone - Pam welcomed us with open arms and gave us a very thorough tour. They joined the waiting list, and moved in a few months later when a space opened up. At this point it has only been a few weeks since their move, but they are extremely happy and we've noticed a difference in their health already, especially with Mom. Her speech and walking have both improved, and we credit the Garden Plaza with that. She has 3 regular meals a day, social interaction, walks more, and she doesn't have the pressures that came with owning and caring for a full-sized home. My folks tell us every day how nice everyone is, from the staff to the residents. They wish they had made the move years ago and say everyone they talk to says the same thing. (Better late than never!) I liken it to living on a land-based cruise ship - all their meals and utilities are included, their unit is cleaned weekly (including towels and linens), there are tons of activities, there's transportation to get them around town, and everything is bundled under one price so they don't have to keep track of a ton of bills (or even this one - they're set up on auto-pay)! It's so nice that my teenage daughter wanted to move there after getting a tour. To say it's been life-changing is an understatement. My parents are thrilled, my siblings and I are thrilled, and a huge load has been lifted from all of us. Since I don't live in Boise, it's an enormous comfort to know they're happy and that people are checking in on them daily. Thank you, thank you, thank you to Pam Dillman and all the wonderful staff and residents at the Garden Plaza of Valley View! (Oh, and there's an AMAZING bakery in the lobby - try the blueberry lemon cake.)

I also took care of my sweet Aunt until her Dementia became debilitating. Both my father and my aunt went to two separate places in California for their Care. I was so unimpressed and had to actually move my Aunt to another place. Neither of the facilities had an RN on staff or PT. Garden Plaza of Valley View has BOTH! Every time I visit, they are doing something Special for their residents. They even built a Bakery so that the residents can visit and have a sweet treat. If you are considering special care for a loved one, take a tour with Melanie. She is personable and understands how important this transition is for everyone in the family. The Company is locally owned, I believe this makes a difference.
