**WARNING!** If I could give this company negative five stars, I would do it. I hired Mark Kinney…read morePlumbing Heating & Air to simply install a new HVAC system in my brand new home with all of the ductwork already ran. In all of my 40 years working in mechanical engineer field, and building houses, I've NEVER had a contractor this bad.
First off, I told him what my budget was, and he said he thought he could do it for that. When he "almost" finished (he ever finished) the installation, he handed me a bill that was MORE than double what we agree on. But given the time he spent, I didn't argue with it, I paid it. When we cranked the system up, it started blowing hot air even when the cooling was on. That told me the emergency heat strip was on. My $280 electric bill for 4 days running also confirmed this, and we had not yet moved into the house. He wired it wrong! Heat strips running 24/7 has burned more than one house down, not to mention the four digit electric bill's you'll get.
Now the lies start - I ask him to come out and correct it. He said that he would, and said he would be out Saturday morning. He texted me and told me he had an emergency job he had to take care of, and I understood. The next week, he said he would be out on Saturday. Saturday comes, and he texted me and said he had another emergency. The following week, he said Saturday, and a no show. Two weeks later he said he would be out Saturday, he texted me saying he had an emergency and would get back to me. The problem is he kept having the same exact emergency with the same client, and even said that THAT client was more important than I was. This last exchange was Oct. 14th, and as I write this, it's March 23rd, over 6-months! He also admitted he broke the TXV valve, so he knew of this issue as well.
Totally Trashy - Mr. Kinney also decided to clean his work van out since I wasn't around that day, and throw the trash in half of a bay in my garage for my wife and I to pick up. In the three foot pile of thash, was over two cases of Miller Lite beer cans (DUI???), over a carton worth of cigarette butts (he constantly smokes), rancid food, parts from toilets, insulation, metal duct, pieces of broken used sewer pipe, oil, and who knows what else was in all of that. There was so much trash that it filled four 55-gallon contractor trash bags. Oil and liquid from the food bags, beer, etc. penetrated the concrete, and the smell is still there to this day, and we can't get it out.
I will be filing a complaint with the South Carolina licensing board against him, and my attorney has been made aware of this as well. I've had to hire another contractor and will be seeking reimbursement for the new contracto's services. And if necessary, legal fees.
