Robert, our chief electrician has by far proved that customer service, doing a great job and being a good communicator makes a difference. Robert showed up on time every day, cleaned up every day, when he had to move stuff to do his job he moved the stuff back, no other contractor has done this! He checks in with us when he arrives to ask if we need anything as he may have to turn off water or electrical and works around our schedule. Lake Norman Electric repaired a ground fault to my lake side pump. They diagnosed the issue quickly and offered a very fair estimate. Their front office is very responsive and easy to work with. Dan the technician ran a new line partially through my crawl space reducing the required trenching and cost. The work was performed efficiently with no damage to existing electrical lines or irrigation pipes. The system was tested throughly before they left. I called this firm to come fix my boat dock and they stated I had to pay for a technician to come and provide an estimate, it was not free. The technician showed up for the estimate along with the bill, what never showed up was the estimate. Not too much later the company had the audacity to throw me in collections and still to this day have not gotten a written estimate. I'd pass on these guys read more

Lake Norman Electric gave the worst service of any provider I have used and I am a builder and licensed contractor. I ordered an underground service. Told them to follow my directions for trenching to avoid sprinkler pipes. As I explained to their representative they needed to meet with me to mark the locstion of the underground. That was an oral part of our contract.They refused to consult and cut through multiple pipes and electrical feeds. They also cut phone line and we have no phone service. No internet service. My professional advice as a builder is to avoid them at all costs. Update. Lake Norman Electric also cut the AT&T telephone and internet line. So no service if we had an emergency. I had to order emergency repair service from AT&T on Sunday at my expense. Azt&T had to install a new line and inside house equipment to match. There $2,500 fee, given their performance, was not justified, in my opinion. read more

I'm giving Lake Norman Electric 2 stars mainly because of their appraiser, Rob. I initially called the company to install an outlet over my fireplace so we could hang a TV there. They arrived the same week, were polite and did a great job. The two electricians that were in our home were very nice, professional, and answered all of my questions. While they were here, I mentioned that I would like to have lighting in my backyard. I'm planning a very large party in a few months and need to have some lighting set up. They informed me to get in touch with Rob, and he would come out and provide an estimate. I went back and forth with the office for two weeks waiting for Rob to get back to me. All the office could tell me was that Rob made his own schedule and they would pass on my message. Finally, he did call on a Friday, and stated he would send me a text message on Monday to let me know exactly when he could stop by. Two weeks later and I am still waiting on that text. If you need something simple done, like the outlet, their electricians were great. It was a bit expensive (Around $250 for a simple wall outlet), but it was very convenient to pay the bill online and the office staff uses text messaging which made communication very easy. If you need a quote for something, I would suggest moving on to another company. You'll never hear from Rob. read more

Made an appointment last week for a GFCI fault that happens on my dock, whenever it is energized. Being a water location, I wanted to give these guys a chance at solving this. They came highly recommended. Upon my initial call, the staff was friendly, and assured me it would be no problem. Got a call and a message last week verifying the date and time of service as 10 am to Noon today. Well, after waiting until 11:35 am, I called to verify I was still on the schedule. The nice person who answered assured me I was, and to be patient. I was second on the list. At 4:38 p.m. the office called me to apologize that they weren't going to come today, and they had no space in the schedule for me to make up for my lost time. Time is the one thing we don't get back. Wasted an entire day to waiting to meet them, and explain the problem, as well as detail all the work I wanted done. Now, I get to find a new provider. Ordinarily I would reschedule, but that was the end of ANY willingness to extend any further consideration to these folks. The electricians may be good. I will never know. You only get to waste my time once. read more

I called because we had some weak circuit breakers that needed replaced. First, it took two weeks for an appointment. The electrician came out and determined 3 breakers needed replaced. The only problem was that he only had 1. The options were to either have them come back another time and pay the $135 service call fee again, or I could wait for the techs to go buy some breakers. They didn't tell me I would be paying for their shopping trip. They arrived at my house at 8:38 AM (they did not call ahead like I was told they would). The finally left at 11:09 AM. That's 2 hours and 31 minutes (151 minutes) . It took them 54 minutes to go buy the breakers. That means they were physically here for 97 minutes, or 1 hour and 37 minutes. If they had had the breakers on the truck, they'd of been done in that 1 hour and 37 minutes, and I'd of been billed for 45 minutes (.75 hours) over the 1 hour service call, approximately another $73.50. But, according to their company, since they were out buying my breakers, I have to pay for that time too, and they billed me an additional 1.75 hours (an hour and 45 minutes) over the initial 1 hour service call. If they can't stock all the different brands of breakers on the trucks (they did have 1), then why didn't they ask me two weeks ago when I called what brand/type I had, so they could stock them on the truck for my appointment? In my opinion, I paid for an extra hour, $98, that I shouldn't have had to. The techs were nice and knowledgeable. But, I won't do business again with a company I feel ripped me off because of their own incompetence. read more

I thought these guys were stellar. They did extensive wiring for my boathouse project. I liked them right off, because they saw that the boathouse could be more than just a utility shed. They had a "can do" attitude about my wish list and even made some other suggestions that I didn't know were possible. They saved me a ton on trenching, which they did in house. $$$ that I could spend on more lighting. They made changes without complaint or penalty. They put in 220 for my welder and Table saw and even retired the saw for the new switch I had bought for it. I had mix matched plugs, busted switch and I came out and they had set it all up for me. I was surprised and very pleased. During the job I asked them to put in "up lighting" for the trees in the backyard, they took it in stride and were much cheaper than my neighbor's lighting. Their crew was professional, competent, and got the job done lightning fast. They got so much lighting installed so quickly with their large crew. The dock looks fantastic. It looks like Vegas out there. :-) I have them coming out to install more underwater ligh next week and I'll use them for my upcoming expansion projects as well. The first time the guys were polite. They came to the door to tell me they were there and they got the job done. The second time was a nightmare. I heard a awful sound and they were digging a trench right at my fireplace and hitting concrete. Instead of digging it in the yard where the original wire was they were insisting on going beside the house where I have outside lighting, hydrangeas and other things the machine would have torn up. I showed them where the trench was supposed to go. It could have been so simple. But this guy could of cared less about what I wanted. I called the polite man I had before and he said he would of laid the pipe beside the house and it could have been covered with pine needles, with no digging. I wish they would of sent him. I ended up just telling them to forget it. They sent me a large bill and did nothing. read more

The folks who answered our call for electrical services were very informative and professional. The electricians arrived on time and executed the work efficiently considering the high level of difficulty of the work being requested. In addition, when questions arose during installation, they reached out and asked questions to us before making any assumptions which was very much appreciated. Charged outrageous rates and the work was subpar, but I paid the bill in full. Also, don't expect them to make it right....Communication is terrible. 0 star. Actually -5 stars. This is first time I'm giving anyone negative feedback..They don't even deserve one star if I'm being honest. Wasted my money and time with them. It was the worst experience I've ever had with any contractors and $3000 worth of nothing that it didn't even pass the inspection. Now we have to hire a new electrician to finish the job to pass the inspection on our new dock. They are asking $2100 more to finish the job. Over priced and you'll be lucky to pass the inspection with this company. I'd never recommend this company to anyone. My Dock builder has done wonderful job, but recommending this company was their biggest mistake.. Very unprofessional and only thing they care about is how to get more money from their customers. Their attitude toward the customers after the job is done is like, we have enough rich customers in the Lake Norman area that we don't need you anymore. read more
